He is already dealing with a ridiculous fan base that expects nothing but championships and is just going to get worse in the changing world of college basketball. If he was going to make this move, this might be the best time to do it.There’s a certain amount of truth to this statement whether or not anyone agrees with it or not. He’ll have to prove himself at either of those places, deal with ridiculous fanbases who expect nothing but championships or stay where he’ll be a god the rest of his life. He’s rich either way.
Can you please remove your nails from the chalkboard? Thanks in advance!Yes, because neither job is even remotely close to being as good as the job he currently has.
He’s already won 2 championships there. He doesn’t have that benefit of the doubt anywhere else. I get it, none of you like Mullins revenge and I find his hatred of Ledlum and Dingle strange at best, disturbing at worst, but he’s not really wrong here. Hurley is always gonna be remembered fondly in CT, barring a complete disaster and, like I said, rich regardless. He is already dealing with a ridiculous fan base that expects nothing but championships and is just going to get worse in the changing world of college basketball. I don’t really have a guess (and that is all anyone can do) as to whether he stays or go and quite frankly don’t care one way or the other as to what the end result will be but find the debate and conjecture interesting.
He might or he might not. If he does stay, it doesn’t make UConn a better job, just a better fit for him in his heart/mind (with an increase in pay, lower tax rate and lower cost of living which negates some of the yearly dollar delta).Lakers have offered 100 mil over 8 years. Im no math major but thats 12.5 mill a year. Uconn will offer 10 mil and he will return.
That’s the thing Mullins Revenge and his friends only care when they win in the tournament if not could care less about Uconn hoops, They’re at the casino disrupting card games or under paying women at Tubs for Two!He is already dealing with a ridiculous fan base that expects nothing but championships and is just going to get worse in the changing world of college basketball. If he was going to make this move, this might be the best time to do it.

Which should be the most important reason I would think, but that’s obviously just me.He might or he might not. If he does stay, it doesn’t make UConn a better job, just a better fit for him in his heart/mind.
I'm a man of respect around here. They love me. I'm a swell guy. He’s already won 2 championships there. He doesn’t have that benefit of the doubt anywhere else. My quotes has nothing to do with Mullins Revenge other than any responses I make to one of his posts. He’s already won 2 championships there. He doesn’t have that benefit of the doubt anywhere else. No, I think that is what I said or tried to imply.Which should be the most important reason I would think, but that’s obviously just me.
If any coach won us one championship, he’d be a god. If any coach won us back-to-back championships, we’d build him a statue and rename the Garden after him.My quotes has nothing to do with Mullins Revenge other than any responses I make to one of his posts.
His winning two National Championships will give him some leeway, that fan base will hunger for more and will turn on him if he doesn’t keep it up (see Ollie, Kevin). UConn is a good job (possibly great when you factor everything in) but it is not better than the Lakers’ job.
It will come down to what he wants and where his heart and mind are (and that includes how his wife feels about it).
Or Louie & 'Joe's' Arena. If any coach won us one championship, he’d be a god. If any coach won us back-to-back championships, we’d build him a statue and rename the Garden after him.
No disagreement there but we’re not UConn’s or Kentucky’s (Cal was basically run out of town there) fan bases. If any coach won us one championship, he’d be a god. If any coach won us back-to-back championships, we’d build him a statue and rename the Garden after him.
1000%. I can’t imagine him turning down the Lakers for precisely this reason. If those guys had to deal with NIL and free agency they may not have passed up the opportunities. You see how quickly they left coaching when this started
i dont understand this, “What else does he have to prove” stuff. Maybe hes wants to prove he can 3peat. Maybe he wants to prove he can win 5 in a row. Maybe he wants to prove he is the best college coach of all time.I understand the value of letting UCONN back into our league. I understand the value of UCONN and Villanova winning a trove of championships.
How much did all that attention and prestige help us on Selection Sunday this past season?
Competitively they are the only state institution in our league, meaning they have an advantage in being funded by tax dollars in part.
Yes they have a great coach. Yes they've won more NCAA championships than any school before of since UCLA's Wooden led dominance. Yes the Big East does better financially with them in our league (which is the only reason they were let back in).
I wouldn't miss his whiny face if he leaves, or their obnoxious fans if they leave the conference.
Historically the Lakers have ALWAYS gotten their man, whether it be Chamberlain, Jabbar, Shaq, LeBron, or Phil Jackson. Risk of failure is high but what else does Hurley have to prove in basketball besides being able to say I conquered the NBA also?
Nor would he be here in the first place.1000%. I can’t imagine him turning down the Lakers for precisely this reason.
As for Pitino’s prediction, if he wasn’t 71 years old and trying to rehabilitate his image one last time, he’d be gone too.
The money isnt much more. Its 12.5 a year for 8 years. If Uconn ups there offer to 10 mil, in 3 years, he negotiates again and will make more then the 12.5 hed be locked in for 8 years in nba.If the money offered, as reported, is real, he should take it gladly. He has nothing more to prove in CT, why leave the money on the table.
