HOLY CROSS, Sat., Nov. 25, 7p, FS-2

It does seem that way but , the Priests at Notre Dame belong to a Order known as the Congregation of the Holy Cross and they aren’t Jesuits like the Priests that run Holy Cross College , BC, G ‘Town , Fordham, etc .

It’s confusing to say the least . Further complicated by a College in South Bend, In called Holy Cross. It’s a feeder school to ND where Rudy went to get his grades up to apply to ND for his last years . It’s run by the same priests as ND .

It’s primarily for kids who don’t quite get admitted to ND but , still would like to attend rather than go elsewhere . These aren’t Remedial students who have academic deficiencies but , rather have good grades , just not enough to get into ND as Freshman .

Holy Cross in Worcester is entirely different . It’s a Jesuit school and , hard to get into as well . No prep school across the street , either .
Holy Cross Fathers also run Stone Hill College and Kings College besides Notre Dame, but, as said, not Holy Cross. Confusing.

The seatback were a smart idea but horrible execution. Any adult cannot sit behind another without screwing up your knees or ripping your pants. It's simply not worth it. I'd rather have the hard bench.
To be completely fair the seatbacks were totally implemented as a response to fans complaining (some here) how they wouldn't go to games without seatbacks being installed.

One guy on here said he was a season ticket complained long and loud that his elderly dad with a bad back couldn’t go to games because his back was in so much pain without the seatbacks.

Then the same guy writes the athletic department but changes the elderly dad part to "my pregnant wife can't ..." Cragg feels so badly he comps the guy two primo seats to a game with seatbacks. Guy got over on him.

So Cragg listens to all complaints and takes them seriously. Fans complain about no beer at CA and he works for a year to get it implemented. He even looked into controlling temps better inside the arena but found it wasn't possible.

To get students to games we made CA tix free, and promotions like free Chik-fil-A drew 1200 students who lined up the hill to D'Angelo to get in.

There is no way to better implement seatbacks in the upper sections of CA because the bleachers are concrete. You can't put seatbacks on the lower bleachers because those bleachers need to be folded back.

Agree completely that the seatbacks are less than optimal but until a Finneran comes along to drop 60 million and 50 other alums drop $1 million plus we are not getting a new on campus arena.

Even then with ubs, msg and barclay we have other priorities like a basketball practice facility. Above that NIL. Rick is advocating a 100 man club donating 10 grand each.

But whatever complaints it's not for lack of trying to be responsive to fans.

Hear you loud and clear. I wish personally I knew about the seatbacks before I picked that location for tickets. Not sure how easy they are to remove but maybe STH's get a choice of them. I know Cragg and admin have been very responsive to 'complaints' and you can't please everyone but it legit make it impossible for anyone close to 6 feet tall to sit without wrecking your knees. Will I 'complain'? Maybe haven't decided. But I also won't kick and scream and try to pull one over like the previously mentioned fan did to Cragg. I just want to enjoy the game and its tough sitting there.

I also saw an older woman in her 70's I'd say have to walk up the second level and literally hold onto the shoulders of fans as she climbed up to get to her seat which was likely in the 3rd level. The 'staff' which is mostly student workers should have advised the stairs behind the seats were a better option. I just don't know how the arena even passes code. Its just a relic.

I love the future direction of the program under Pitino but so many things still scream mom and pop and those are amplified on campus. I can see why RP wants to play less and less games there.

Put all the games in MSG/Barclays/UBS and these complaints will go away. Only kidding, people will always complain.
At least we are no longer complaining about the product on the court!

I'm on record here wanting a Statue of Cragg outside the Arena for getting us beer.

I also have offered multiple times to go up to the roof if they would just let me cut some holes in the roof and let the air out but told him this year at JSJ's party that with Pitino hired I'm not complaining about the heat anymore :)

But I gotta be honest I think the solution to the heat at least partial solution is ( absent of letting me on the roof with a saw ) is what they did yesterday. Keep the doors open till tip off. They had a very nice breeze in the walkway behind the baskets where I saw you. It still got warm up top but it wasn't the hell like heat that has made me regret going not going to confession for the last 30+ years in case I died of heat stroke

Yesterday was by far the coolest in the Arena that I remember going back to Norm Roberts but then it was just Kranmars,Zanman and myself sitting in Section 8 alone

I have family who own a heating and air conditioning company. If they get me a seat that won't lead to knee replacement I will make them figure out the heating at CA for no charge.

Sealy was a great player but was not close to being best 15-18 foot shooter in school history. The best mid range shooter that I saw play can be added to your all time slow feet list. Billy Schaeffer shot close to 60% from the field in his 3 season career, including a senior year in the 63% range. Most were in the 15 foot range. Before my time, but heard Tony Jackson could really shoot it.
Never saw any of those guys play.
Sealy baseline J was automatic
In my time as a fan Mullin and Sealy were best two mid range shooters

It’s early, but Taylor is at 50 percent from three and his shot looks good. I understand that is not sustainable, but the overall competition he has faced has been solid. If he can bury open threes he becomes one hell of a player.

He was advertised as purely a slasher.
He’s picking his spots better than anyone thus far. More than half his looks are coming from the lane.

I can plainly see and understand all the complaints about alumni hall and they are not without merit. Yet still I love going to games there and prefer it to the wmfa, barclays or ubs. I've been going to games there since 1973 and it just feels like home. Like watching a game in my living room.
I'd hate to sit on your recliner at home

Oh I know that about overall engagement especially with the casual fan. But this site isn’t the casual fan and you can bet your house on it if we won by 10 or less this thread would be up to 60 pages by now.
If we lost as 25 point favorites you don’t think 60 pages would be warranted?

I wish you would come try it. I'm darn close to Huntington and Bronx pale ales, lobster roles and bouilliabase are always on the menu.
The BPA’ and Lobster Rolls I’ll even bring foldable chair for myself and be happy. The FIG Boullibase is Podcast Dave’s choice. Not sure what his seating requirement is but if the food is close to FIGs quality I think he won’t complain either :)

From the font I’m guessing you think much shorter?

He makes ledlum look small out there. Not talking muscles.
I met the kid at SJU Media day, he seemed skinny then (September)

Seeing him yesterday - he looked huge, bulkier, and definitely taller. He looks big out there and the way he gets to the rim he plays like it. Really stood out to me. Can't wait to see what he does against WVa

To second your second point. I sit in the second section and have seen many people fall heading through it to the third section. Almost no one takes the stairs, it’s like the school wants to keep them a secret. If someone has tickets in the third level they should be directed to the stairs. One day someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Great quote from someone who sounds like a great kid!
Indeed he is. Humble and gets it. I sat behind his mom last night and I can't imagine being a parent of a D1 athlete, I'd be going nuts each and every play and his mom was so chill - fun to watch the subtle looks to each other. At one point he looked over and saw her and did a heart symbol with his fingers at her. He's a really good kid, got to know him, mom and dad a bit since they've been here. Sky is the limit
