HOLY CROSS, Sat., Nov. 25, 7p, FS-2

I hear you I've been annoyed by that for years!
Look at you guys with your elitist first world complaints. There are children starving in Africa and you are complaining about HD reception.

Notice, MJMaher is too embarrassed to respond. What does that tell you?

When I was young we had to get up, walk to the TV and change channel by hand. And we had a limited selection with only had six or seven channels to choose something we liked.

Now, get off my lawn…

I just wish the original elitist rant got preserved and displayed as an art piece on this site. It was an incredibly funny post but it got deleted I believe

Another Alum , who I think played Basketball at HC was Dr Anthony Fauci .

I always suspected Dr Fauci only because he grew up in Brooklyn but , was a Yankee fan. Heresy !

Back in the day when he grew up, being a Yankee fan in Brooklyn was like being a outcast . Likely as not to get you a punch in the nose . Often.
Tony Fauci from Bensonhurst, Bklyn, went to Regis HS and was a star point guard, I wasn't aware he played at Holy Cross College, but he is definitely a Crusader and very very proud of it. HC has tons of doctors as Alums even though it is liberal arts and not a hard science school, they propel lots of people into the law, business, and medical fields. Also has one of the best Classics programs in the country.

Regis HS. not in college as far as I know. Regis known for brains not brawn. Monte will tell you Xavier known for brains plus national prowess in rugby.
Sorry, Monte, Regis academically in a class if its own. Special test and if you go there, every student gets a scholarship and a likely Ivy acceptance.

Regis is also a pipeline school to HC. Xavier is a great school too, like Xaverian in Bklyn, and FP in the Bronx. (And Bklyn Prep when it was still around in Bklyn.) All, except, Xaverian taught by the Jesuits.

Maybe it's because he worked for a federal agency for a lifetime and
he gave his heart, soul and brains to us as leader of that agency.
He is a national hero !

I'm referring to your statement that he goes which way the wind blows.
sentiments exactly Swish

I'm not far behind you on that TV history but the amount I pay for cable is obnoxious and too not have a HD option for a national TV network to me is crazy!

I'm very familiar with both schools, and there is no question that being tuition free, Regis from top to bottom has an academically superior student body.

Every regis grad however, does not receive a college scholarship to their school of choice, and while Regis grads are well represented among elite colleges and universities. As impressive as your postulation, being a regis grad does not in any way swing the ivy league doors open to grads. Ivys look for way more than academic achievement as they reject hundreds of perfect SAT and ACT scores each year. Applicants must have a superior CV of extracurricular activities and successes in the cultural arts, academic activities such as model UN, high school science research, mock trial, athletics, etc.

While Regis has an entrance exam (as does Xavier), Regis bases their final decisons for applicants on classroom performance in 7th grade above exam results, believing performance is a beytwr indicator for success than test results. Xavier's Ignatian Scholars program, also a scholarship program, values entrance exam results above classroom grades. Both Regis and Xavier's Ignatian Scholar's program produce exceptional college applicants.

Jesuit colleges end up being very attractive to graduates of Jesuit high schools. They strongly emphasize that they do not favor Jesuit HS grads in the application process.

Because of the competitive nature of elite.universities including Ivys, the usual suspects (stanford, MIT, etc) and most selective Catholic Schools (ND, Georgetown, BC, Villanova), Holy Cross while highly compeitive and a great much smaller liberal arts school is likely the equal of more competitive catholic schools in liberal arts but lacks the broader curriculum and other amenities that larger schools offer. Still a great school.

Regis may top to bottom may have the most.academically qualified male students in the nyc metro area, but Xavier Ignatian scholars don't yield much if any to Regis grads.

We have a couple of Regis grads on here as well as one on our coaching staff. I know a bunch of Regis grads and to a person they are each twrrific people and very smart. Not part of this discussion but your comme ts deserve a clunter. Will gladly n discuss in private if you wosh.

I would also think and hope a 46 point dominating win even as a 25 point favorite would warrant more also. But negativity stirs up a lot more interest so it seems.
Kinda like with news channels; people don't tune in to hear that everything is great. They tune in when things are a disaster. Guess it's human nature.

Come on, Kranmars, you "paid" a sibling a dollar so you didn't have to get off your duff to change the channel!!

After watching the dismantling of Holy Cross, even with wacky substitutions and odd PT for players, how could we have lost an exhibition game to Pace?

Agree to disagree with about half of Beast's post, but to each, his own.... as they say.

Sorry, Mods, veered too far off topic here.

Next topic!
