HOLY CROSS, Sat., Nov. 25, 7p, FS-2

Like most, I was very impressed by RJ. Especially given the fact that this was his first game back (even though it was against Holy Cross). Even better, RJ will continue to get better with more PT/practice. I believe RJ said he felt he was at 40%, even so, watch out!!! Overall, a very solid performance (Joel, Ledlum, Dingle...) against a team they should beat by 25 and we won by 46. Chatting across the aisle with my bud, IDRAFT, the team has a very interesting look with RJ & Taylor on the floor together. Lastly, no news flash here, but Wilcher will be a stud.
We also couldn’t get over the fact that Georgetown lost to Holy Cross. Among other things, they fell down a lot when trying to run. No size, no speed, no bueno.

And one player who clearly had a body fat percentage higher than 10%.

Another big improvement over last year...I'm not tearing my hair out over bone-headed substitutions that make absolutely no sense. Pitino's an alchemist and he'll keep tinkering until he's satisfied he has the best combination of players on the floor in any given situation. I think we'll have some big in-conference wins this year, and it's especially exciting that three BE teams are currently ranked in the top ten. Wins against Creighton, U Conn and/or Marquette will more than make up for a paucity of resume-building OOC wins. Not predicting, BTW, just sayin'.

Holy cross has given up it seems.
This is what concerns me about this game. Hopefully it was enough of a tuneup for going to West Virginia. A win there is very important for an at large bid, especially after losing to Dayton, rather than Houston, in Charleston.

This is the relationship between Durant, his agent/partner & the school. The agent is a NY'er and fan of the team.

Correct. I believe Rich Kleinman is the agent/business partner’s name. He grew up in NYC and is a big SJU fan i believe.

Terrific game and one of the most dominant performances I’ve seen from is on a long time. Agree on Ejiafor. Not expecting strong post moves but he needs to be better around the hoop and finish off uncontested layups.
Soriano did not look good around the basket in the first half of his first season here. CRP will coach up Zuby for sure to make him at least serviceable offensively.

Taylor & wilcher will be two key subs off the bench going forward. We will just keep getting better
Love Taylor from the start. And Wilcher seems more comfortable each game. He'll be an important player by the end of the season. I was concerned that Davis might get some of his minutes.

“A lover of sports, Kleiman spent countless hours cheering on his favorite New York franchises, especially the Rangers, Knicks and St. John’s University at The Garden. He can still recall his first Knicks game watching Marvin Webster, Ken Bannister, Louis Orr, Rory Sparrow and Darrell Walker on the ’84 squad. He idolized Mark Jackson, a Brooklyn-born point guard who not only starred for St. John’s, but also Kleiman’s beloved Knicks”.

This game made me feel very comfortable about our future past this year.
You never know with the portal and NIL but this would be the gut of the team next season

Wilcher (Soph)
Cruz Davis (Junior)
Taylor (Senior)
RJ (Junior)
Zuby (Junior)

They all showed me a little something last night.
Not to mention that list doesn't include Ledlum and Dingle who DO have an extra Covid year.
Theoretically both could come back.

Love this. With Mullin and Anderson it felt like we only had teams that had a shot at the tournament every 3/4 years.

Is this definite ? I thought Ledlum and Dingle didn’t because of their conference but Beast mentioned to me a month or so ago he heard they did have an extra

Michigan thread 53 pages. Dayton thread 35 pages.

Utah thread 24. Holy cross 14.

Guess it’s more fun to trash us than enjoy us. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
Or people simply get more excited over and pay greater attention to Baked Alaska than a box mix cupcake?

St. John's did exactly what they were supposed to do against Holy Cross. Dominate. Rick Pitino got a great look at Brady Dunlap in extended minutes. Simeon Wilcher earned a lot of praise as back up point guard, and Zuby Ejiofor continues to play better, headlined by his defense. But the biggest headline from the 91-45 Holy Cross win was RJ Luis introducing himself to Johnnie Nation. Another weapon is at the disposal for the St. John's staff as they get ready for West Virginia. Frank and I go through all the positives from the win, specifically Luis and Wilcher.

Developing killer instinct is a staple of Pitino’s most successful teams. Good to finally see that last night.
