I suspect that Hofstra will be motivated and well-organized to play against us. If the team has a post-UConn hangover, they may well find themselves in a dogfight and could even come up on the wrong end of it, especially in an essentially neutral-court atmosphere.
Agree that Hofstra will be motivated. When CMA was fired there were "rumors" that Claxton really wanted the SJU job. He will have his team ready for this game. Hope we come out strong like the Fordham game and not have this one decided in the last five minutes.

I finished my Ed.D. at STJ in '97. She who must be obeyed finished her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Hofstra in '96. Win or lose, I'm doomed.

  • UBS is a premature experimental move, tripling down on a sterile atmosphere in a hockey arena is foolish no matter how you look at it. The vibe for Kansas was horrendous with the amount of people that were there.

  • I looked at a couple of photos of the recent St.Joe's/Iona game to see if UBS still has 4 rows behind the basket and then 75' of open space before the 100 Section begins and it is unexplainably still the case.

  • Barclays is the same feel, I was there. The 10-0 run that we went on had limited, unimposing support from the crowd.

  • I don't blame tri state fans for waiting until there is a sustained, proven winner in March for consecutive years before they invest their time and money. I do blame the higher ups for thinking that this could all be flipped at the snap of a finger and attempting to capitalize on it.

  • If any of the 3 games that are at UBS turn out like Barclays when each of them could've been penciled in Jamaica then shame on everyone involved.

Agree on all points except the hangover part. Pretty hard for a hangover effect with a week between games (unless you’re Maher 😉😊).

Pitino has a connect with Lou Lamoriello, who hired him at PC, making scheduling games at UBS very easy.

Funny how Alumni Hall/CA has been ragged on for years, referred to as a HS gym. Now we want more games there.
Partnership between SJU and UBS goes back way before Pitino

Agree 100%.

Seems this is only because Pitino didn't want to play at CA, and apparently when he came on board he was making decisions based on his name and future hopes and not current reality.

While I'm excited to go while we're in NY (and sit behind mjmaher), I'd much rather be at CA packed house then what I'm expecting will be a 1/3 full arena. That DePaul weeknight game will be brutal unless we go on a winning streak by then
So , your completely disregarding a DePaul resurgence in 2024 ?

Go out earlier come home by 7pm= no more hangovers

The days of mjmaherjr even post gaming for an hour after a st johns MSG night game are long gone. Midway through the second half I'm not even looking at this site during stoppages in play. I'm looking at the time and my phone and the LIRR train schedule :)

Proof that we are never happy. Bunch of fans break out of prison finally only to want to go back in. Some serious Shawshank redemption stuff going on here like that guy Brooks who didn't want to live outside the prison

If we didn’t have Pitino, I’d be a little nervous about a trap game. Instead, I can enjoy my vacation to Mexico City without any worries.

He will not let us lose a game like this.

I've had season tix for since I don't even remember and my 114 crew will verify I had no patience to even try to resell carnesseca. Was a tax loss until last year when I started going again to campus
Tax loss....interesting. Perhaps you can hook me up with your accountant. On second thought, maybe not. There may be some IRS agents on this board :)
