He needs therapy more than he needs practices.
You too :)
Funny but did you know that the Psychiatric center ar the University of Kansas Hospital is located in your namesake?
That's irony.

Glad my center was able to help you. If you could leave a good review on Yelp we’d appreciate it.

"He's got tendonitis, and it's chronic. I don't know if you've had it, but some days it's worse than others. We tried to cut him back in practice, but he's day-to-day." - #sjubb HC Chris Mullin on the state of Mustapha Heron's knee.

Doesn't bode well for BET if we win and have to play back to backs or even NCAAs with 2 in 3 days if we win. Very unfortunate but maybe with treatment the situation will improve.

Mullin is right on this one, always good days and bad days with tendinitis. Unfortunately basketball is a tough sport to play with patellar tendinitis. I hope he is able to manage his symptoms and get some good rest in between games.

Also important to note that tendinitis can worsen and lead to a tendon tear, which could be detrimental to Heron’s career, so don’t get upset at him if he sits out games here and there.

I don't think anyone is upset that SJU is playing it safe with him and not risking more serious injury.

But to act like you are the CIA in terms of not revealing potential injury status 24 hours before the game is a little much.

It’s good that we don’t play again until Thursday. At least he has four days to rest it and get treatment. If he plays and we win on Thursday. I would play him sparingly in the last two games

I hate being left in dark by staff, but I wish they would have kept it secret that it was chronic tendonitis. Let an NBA team find out on their own later on. Hindsight of course, but I would have been good with something more vague.

Haa. That is good...

And if they indeed kept Heron's tendonitis a secret, you would have been bitching that they kept it a secret.

All sympathies to Heron, who obviously should be careful not to exacerbate situation — but reminds me of a direct quote from Louie years ago, “tendinitis, schmendinitis!” Of course Louie did not go to medical school, but in context of talking about 20ish year old kids, always a point that resonated with me.

Guys, chronic means that it comes back. One can usually cure the chronic part by strengthening the thigh muscles. Been there, done that. Off season strengthening should take care of it.

I have it on good medical authority that schmendinitis is much worse.

Is this directed toward me? If so, you clearly don't know how to read.

Not good.
For his sake, more than ours.
Who cares about a gaggle of diehard old men fans.
That’s not a question, it’s a statement.
His career is on the line.
Dunno, but I hope the guy who said ‘strengthen the muscles’ is a world-famed plastic / neuro surgeon who worked on Marilyn Monroe.
You young guys remember her?
Rhonda Fleming?
Ann Margaret?
Jill-Yeah-St,. John.
Ahh, never mind.
Let’s go Mustapha!

I hadn't been attentive to the numbers that Heron had been putting up (clearly very nice), but did notice his absence in the first Providence loss as being key to even how we were getting crushed on the boards despite Keita getting more minutes than usual.

Heron may not at this point be the sure fire first round pick we expected to see this season, but he clearly can score in bunches at times, is a strong physical presence, a good rebounder and defender. That we won without him against a well coached SH team is a testimony to our growth.

Blessing in disguise is how well Edgerton played when dusted off and inserted. We must just go 9 deep come tourney time, with Roberts, Keita, Williams, and Earlington being of value.

Hope Heron recovers soon. I think these calls are to space out stress on his knee. We don't play until Thursday, then Sunday, then 6 days later. If we can nurse his recovery, we may just dance. Kudos to Mullin for sticking with a lineup with Williams and Earlington for an extended time in the first half even as Seton Hall bit into the 20 point lead. Additionally it appears to me that Roberts is a very quick jumper who can block anything put up in the paint. Both Keita and Roberts get nearly every layup they shoot blocked, but they bring value when on the court - Keita with surprise mid range buckets on Saturday.

Maybe he'll pull a "Willis Reed" move

It really depends on what tendon is bothering him. I have patellar tendonitis, and some days it is really painful, but, they actually make a strap for it that almost instantly relieves 90% of the discomfort. If it is the quadriceps tendon, there really is no quick fix for it. Either way I hope he is feeling better soon.
