Head Coaching Changes

Fordham should atempt to move to the Patriot League which would be a better fit for its academic profile rather than the the genreally mediocre academic MAAC.

That would be a good fit. So would the CAA that Hofstra is in. There are some very good academic schools in there as well. Dont think the A-10 would have a problem with them moving on.

"Leitao, meanwhile, is signed through 2023-24 but reportedly has no buyout and has no guaranteed money coming after this season."

Wow.....Leitao's contract makes more sense to me now.  He had a strong recruiting class and the pandemic hit.  It wasn't a good time to change coaches so they gave him what was essentially a one year extension.

.....he's gone.

They should try and get Porter Moser from Loyola-Chicago

BTW-I heard an interesting name in the Fordham search relevant to SJU, Steve DeMeo.
Might be a good choice as he has successful JC head coaching experience and NY roots.  Hate to lose him but I would rather have CMA hire AC's who have potential to grow into HC's.

Why wouldn't DeMeo be able grow into a HC?

iI take it to read that it's a good sign that Coach's assistants do have the ability to become head coaches rather than not have that opportunity thereby attesting to their quality.

We are in a so much better place than we were in the not-so-distant past, so if we do lose DeMeo I'm eager to see who would be interested in that AC vacancy.

I believe DePaul had a pretty good recruiting class for next season.  We'll see how that winds up.

And they all are unavailable to SJU.

Not unexpected since DePaul has a new AD who served in a senior position at UKentucky who will hire his own candidate.
