Good coach;

Sources: Albany has parted ways with Will Brown. Won five America East titles in 20 years.

no need to feel sorry for Will Brown.  I am told he is vested in the NYS Retirement System.

it was reported his base salary was $350,000.  With 20 years in the system he is in line to receive a guaranteed $175,000+/-  every year of his life after age 55.
But if he decides to move back home, half of that pension will go toward paying property taxes./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

I always liked him. I'm sure he could find an assistant coaching gig pretty fast if he can't find a head coaching one but doesn't want to take a year off.

Hadn't seen him on the sidelines in a year or whatever but hopefully whoever hires Will makes him wear better dress shirts. He defined the frumpy look regardless of coaching ability. Desco approves of my comment

That figure is not correct.  He actually vested after five years (higher now). If he retires at 55 with 20 years in he would be entitled to 40% of his average salary of his last two or three years but would also be subject to a penalty which would reduce that figure by at least 25% (if he left with 20 years at 62, there would be no penalty).  Either way, it is nice to have.  He won't get any of it until he is 55 though.

He's from Central Suffolk. He's a product of his environment./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

How about Richard Pitino to Fordham ?

There would definitely be ties there between AD and the family.

Yeah, but on the plus side he doesn't sit on the scorers table and likes lobster rolls and IPAs/media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Desco approves of my comment          Good post about Brown . Reminded me about 2 HOf Coaches  we mentioned a few weeks ago . Rollie Massimino and John Chaney . Nether of whom were ever offered any Modeling $$ from Brooks Bros .. Too see either of  them after a Game made you want to throw up your hands to the Heavens .  Rollie , unlike Chaney usually kept his Jacket on , but it didn't help . His tie would be turned to the side , his shirt completely untucked under the Jacket and he jumped around like a giraffe . Plus , the gestures were hands flagging every which way.               Chaney , on the other hand , must have hated the Jacket ! It never survived a game . And , his trademark was the long sleeve shirt rolled up to the elbows . And , there weren't rolled nicely . More like who cares ! Of course the tie was loosened until the knot was down around his belly button . The 2 of them were a show in their own right . It must have been a treat to see them both on the sidelines when Nova and Temple met . But , they could sure Coach .   Louie , to be sure , wasn't a fashion player either .  Very superstitious . I recall him wearing Brown Slacks with a Black belt that he must have owned since childhood .  And , he wore them fur every game .  All these guys were characters in their own way . Loved them all !

"Fordham University is focusing on three candidates for its vacant head men’s basketball coaching job, multiple sources said.Bryant coach Jared Grasso, Saint Peter’s coach Shaheen Holloway and former Penn State coach Pat Chambers are the three leading candidates. There is no known time-frame on when a decision will be made."

Fordham should hire Grasso or Holloway before they change their minds
I didn't expect them to be able to attract such a quality pool of candidates
Good for them!!!

Doesn't Holloway have a "show cause" order against him, or something like that, which you think would be a factor?

Looks like that is all in the past at this point (See below)

A 20-month show-cause order for the former associate head coach. As part of the show-cause order, he is suspended from four games during the 2019-20 academic year and prohibited from all recruiting communication for six weeks during the 2019-20 academic year. He also is required to attend an NCAA Regional Rules Seminar in 2020 and 2021.

and for all that w/ Tauren Thompson who sat on Hall bench last year with 1 game played / 4 total minutes logged, and sat on Detroit Mercy bench this year with 2 games played / 2 total minutes logged all season.  This from his peak as a freshman at Syracuse where he played 18 min/game and avged 9 pts / 4 rebs...

Fordham coaching hire odds

Fordham Men's Basketball Coaching Search Odds - HoopDirt

(FWIW....Fran at 20/1 and Lav at 45/1 odds... lol)

Fran has lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for many years. He does a great job working for ESPN and most of the games he is assigned to work are within a reasonable distance from his home.

At this stage of his life, I would be surprised if Fran were to be interested in coaching again, especially at a program like Fordham that needs a complete rebuild and would take several years in order to possibly get to a point of respectability in the A-10.

Unless there is a major shift in university priorities, Fordham should move back to the MAAC, where they have a much better chance of competing than in the A-10.
