Either, Boeheim plans to coach at Cuse forever, or he wants to get Autry some HC experience to be potential successor or he doesn't want him to fill his spot.
Talking to a colleague who I recently found out went to Fordham, as my daughter will be heading there in Sept.
He said the same thing posted earlier by Otis, that they've historically been tight on keeping admissions standards within reason of their profile and if they don't bend there, it doesn't matter who they bring in to coach or how much other support they put to program, they'll struggle to get out of A10 basement more often than not.
Curious to see how Ed Kull moves along here. Interesting post on Fordham Academics . It's always been a pretty highly rated school but , ranks below Gtiwn , BC , Marquette , on School Rankings .. Hard to understand how these other Jesuit schools get kids admitted and not Fordham . Make no mistake Fordham has always been a great school . The Jesuits don't seem to share the Vincentians Mission of admitting a lot of kids who need a break , Academically or Finanancially .
I'd much rather live in Santa Fe but that's probably a 55-mile commute each way, and I'm not even sure how much the gig pays, but I've always thought the New Mexico job was a good one. Probably because of the fan support.Paultzman" post=421992 said:https://twitter.com/jeffborzello/status/1365497154454831106?s=21

Rumor Frank Martin might be interested because his buddy is the A.D.
No suprise that he's denying it at this point

For many years, Cardinal Hayes could not get kids accepted to Fordham, although they did have a few seniors accepted to Boston College. Go figure.
That said, through the intervention of a member of the Hayes Board of Trustees (who is an influencial Fordham alumnus) we have had 10 young men from the Hayes Class of 2019 accepted to Rose Hill with great financial packages.

However, other schools like Davidson, seem to do OK and don't settle on academic profile of the recruit too much.

Share a quick story about how their own stubborness and sanctimony can hurt them. Mario Gabelli was a famous grad. Ended up making a fortune in the market and is the founder of Gabelli Funds. Worth a fortune. His kid applied to Fordham and expected to get in as a legacy. Except even with a looming big donation Fordham denied admissions because the kid did not quite meet academic requirement. That pissed off Mario he took his kid and his donation to Boston College. And they did not talk for years. Eventually they kissed and made up, Gabelli made a huge donation and the business school of which I am a grad is now officially the Gabelli School of Business and there is a recent building on campus that was re-done for the school with largely his money.
I can see him wanting to leave because it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business, and he might be growing stale. But he makes $3 million there, and Weir was making $775,000. I guess he'd get six years from UNM, and he probably doesn't have six years left at South Carolina at his curret win rate. Just wondering how much UNM would have to bump the salary to lure him.MarkRedman" post=422096 said:Paultzman" post=421992 said:https://twitter.com/jeffborzello/status/1365497154454831106?s=21

I know this is a little off topic, but JJJ, thanks for all you did to get those Hayes graduates accepted into Fordham. I hope this is the beginning of a trend for Hayes. Well done!jerseyshorejohnny" post=422097 said:SLYFOXX1968" post=422018 said:RedStormNC" post=421996 said:fordham96" post=421950 said:Good friend told me Boeheim called Ed Kull personally and recommended Adrian Autry.

Dempsey out;
This just in: I’m told Binghamton is elevating assistant Levell Sanders, a former Seton Hall star, to interim head coach for the next year. School must conduct a search per state regs, but Sanders certainly could become permanent. Sanders was a successful head coach in Europe.
I went to Binghamton and am familiar with their basketball program which has really struggled after their one NCAA tournament bid which seems like a long time ago. The problems that occurred during and after that year were tough to overcome. It set the program back to square one. Dempsey did a good job recruiting some great student athletes unlike Albany and isn't a bad coach. Things never clicked and the program never took advantage of the wonderful facilities which have now been built at UMBC and will soon at UVM and Maine. Wishing Sanders good luck. Queens kid.
