Harvard, Sat., Nov. 30, 5p, Peacock

For whatever reason, Brady & Kadary seem to be lightning rods for criticism on our team. I have my theory as to why but will keep it to myself. I agree that Brady is a solid rotation player on our team. Plays like a coach's son and gave us a solid 24 minutes today with 7 rebounds and 0 turnovers. Took a couple of rushed shots but I have no problem with him getting 7th-8th man type minutes.
We need Smith with his head in team play to go anywhere though imho.
I do think Brady does nice job doing some little things like moving w/o the ball, making good entry & ordinary passes, hustling (although I don’t see him as a good defender yet) and being a great teammate. Where it gets dicey with fans of a team starving for consistent three point shooters, is he not yet a marksman from deep. Only a Soph, but imo he has to be the three point threat we need and has not yet proven that. Without becoming a highly proficient shooter, I can see why fans doubt his overall value. Hit shots and that will change.

Agree, although I didn't think Brady took particularly good threes tonight (with one exception). But to Amase's point when Smith plays guys get much better looks from three.

I think we will generate so many wide open looks that it won’t matter most games.

Inside-out looks and skip passes galore.
Our 4 best players excel at the rim. We'll get open 3s simply because teams would rather help off guys like Wilcher and Dunlap instead of staying attached to them and letting Kadary/Luis/Smith have lanes to drive. That's why those guys and Scott need to make shots consistently

Harvard was not digging at the ball like other teams. Georgia was absolutely insane.

Maybe that Georgia game helps us in the long run? It really highlighted a few team weaknesses.
Even just his handle top of the key getting into sets. No bobbles or fumbles. The dig downs on drives is a different story. His handles been way to loose.

I agree. You beat us by keeping us out of the lane. That kills our inside-out looks. You don’t let Kadary serve up assists on a platter from the paint and force Luis into off balance drives where he’s not as deadly.

That is true for sure. Smith is so essential to getting ball to guys for good looks and a major reason I would like whatever the recent problem was resolved.

Well the LMF report is that Pitino isn't happy with the players and they aren't happy with him. It is entirely possible that the old school approach to coaching is not the route to success in this era.

That unhappiness is also translating to the lack of connection between the players on the floor, and unlike last year the leadership characteristics of this squad are much different.

In my opinion the best offensive option for this team is to give Richmond the ball at the top of the key. He will either make a mid range shot, get to the rim, or find the open man off some action. Having him in the corner for stretches is just bizarre to me.

It's wonderful that Glover hit some shots but people who think he's ready to be an actual player against legit competition need to remember that there's more to the game than shooting. He should progress but his defense and court awareness need a LOT of work.

Team continues to seem structurally unsound to me and today Pitino was obviously casting about for fixes to things he should have considered when recruiting.

I think in the end it will get figured out and we will be OK but I don't have a high degree of confidence. The degree of unhappiness and friction (and my vantage point is not far from the bench and the huddle) was fairly alarming.
Sounds like last season all over again. Let’s hope they figure it out sooner.

At one of the pressers RJ said something very close to "we always feel like when Brady has an open shot it's going in". They clearly trust him.
Unfortunately with very few exceptions, most games this year and last that’s a fallacy. Problem is he came in here with the rep as a pure shooter. Has not shown that. But as for being a high iq glue guy who has a role in the rotation, no arguments.

You're happy with the team's play so far?
They have steamrolled against lesser opponents, which not all teams can say, such as Rutgers losing against Kennesaw State. And the two losses were not horrific, though disappointing for sure. So, on balance, while I would love them to be undefeated and ranked, the sky is not quite falling and I do not expect it to this year.

Good perspective.

Absolutely putrid effort and team play today.
We have two money players in Luis and Richmond that could have dominated Harvard and, while they played well, Pitino gives Question Mark and the Mysterions too much offensive play. Brady Dunlap cannot complete against similar sized players even if he has the greatest coach's son mind in America. Vince thinks once he touches the he needs to make an offensive move inside. Players like Scott should vary their shot selection to include more midrange jumpers.
Three guys need to be the main focus of the offense....Richmond, Luis and Zuby.
Everyone else should get opportunity points off drives and picks. Smith needs to become a more steady maestro on the floor.
There are a lot of loose ends on this team....role wise.
That's what Pitino is getting the big bucks to figure out.

I think Brady is clearly hurt and that is impact the shot. It looked good earlier in the year before the injury-bug.
