I'm done defending Harrison. Most of the people I talk bad about do well. So that's the new direction.
Harrison is having a terrible season....

Why single out him?
So is Sampson, so is Obekpa, so is Pointer, so is Greene, so is Sanchez, so is Lavin, so is Whitesell, and so is our team as a whole,

because harrison gets a "pass" with most fans here. they point to his points per game average and ignore his terrible shot selection and really lack of anything else to help the team.

MJDinkins had joe figured out from his first post with this new username lol

Your right .. Right now the team is quick , lengthy and good on the fast break Their quickness gets them turnovers .They are poor on spacing, hitting the open man, setting picks No one really moves well without the ball. It was admirable the way they came backHarrison is having a terrible season....

1st on the team in points, 4th in rebounds, 4th in assists, 2nd in steals. Respectable 40/35/85 percentages, especially for someone with his counting stats. Has been playing with incredible (and channeled) energy and intensity, particularly on the defensive end.
He hasn't been good in the clutch. That is the only objective criticism that can be made about this kid this year. With the plethora of problems this team has had, particularly in the month of January, a player who does all of the above but hasn't been good in the clutch is the absolute last thing we have to worry about.
FWIW, I thought his play down the stretch last night was his best in a close game this season. He scored 11 points between the 12:30 and 4:30 marks in the 2nd half. That's enough momentum for him to force the issue in the closing minutes as he has in the past. He didn't score from that point forward, but he also didn't force anything and actually facilitated some of the best ball reversal we had down the stretch. He was getting a lot of attention from Creighton and was happy to simply draw attention and create space for others.

I'm going to knock your post here, not really Harrison. I don't have nearly as high an opinion of him as a player as many do here but he is obviously one of our better players. Having said that, I do believe he is overrated on this board. I know the term "volume" scorer is in vogue now and he is that; to me it means one takes a lot of shots to score and he does. His shooting %'s clearly show that. But my real beef with your post is this, Harrison's defense has improved but in NO WAY does he play "with incredible (and channeled) energy and intensity, particularly on the defensive end." Sorry, he has become a decent defensive player, nothing more, nothing less. He blows as hot and cold as every other player on this team in terms of effort and production. Break down film and he and Greene get beat to the basket much more than either Jordan or branch and he rarely if ever hustles into help position (although in fairness, as a team we don't have many players committed to playing team defense.) I admire Harrison greatly for staying here and for his obvious effort in controlling his emotions but as a player he is what he is, a decent to good player who, like all the current Johnnies, struggles to understand and apply the things that it takes to win at this level.
I would love to see him win a game for us down the stretch.Good shot at 2,000 career points!
I would love to see him break into the top 5
I'd love to see someone else on the team step up so a defense doesn't know who's taking the shot. Oh wait someone tried that in Prov game. Didn't work out so well
Yeah, how dare someone else take a shot at the end of the game; I mean amazingly Harrison has never missed one; he's the reason we have that great record in close games.
Um yeah. That's EXACTLY what I was getting at.
Game on the line who do you want taking a shot? Curious to your response.
Oh and coaching the other team SJU with the last shot who are you focusing on?
Loaded question; if it is an open shot, a GOOD shot, I would want Harrison or Jordan. Since we know Harrison will be dogged, make a play for someone else and live with the results. Good teams have more than one option, not this guy shoots no matter what. The truth of the situation is much too often it has been Harrison shoots and it has not worked out very well. A question back, if Hooper's shot went in would you feel differently about Harrison or bust?
Another way to look at it is that when you come down to the last play or two of a game, refs often do not give guards the benefit of the doubt on contact on the way to the basket. I think I'd rather see Sanchez or Sampson taking it strong to the hole than a forced outside shot by Harrison or anyone else for that matter. At this point it doesn't appear that even Harrison is confident that the ball is going in on release.
I think with the improved PG play we are seeing I hope we will also see the team expanding its options in end of game situations, or at least I would hope we would.

but this happens in most of their games We did not score a bucket over 9 mins so how could anybody expect us to win
Hope we grab a 2014 recruit or a Jr. college transfer that will help us next yr
Yes always saying wait till next year. I think the University must be led by old brooklyn dodger fans
Seems like we are always saying wait until next yr
I agree that Harrison's defense runs hot and cold...there are times he plays with intensity and then spurts where he moves with no sense of urgency...but he does have it in him..its up to coach to instill a zero tolerance policy for taking possessions off..that said, he is a very good rebounder...maybe our best inch for inchHarrison is having a terrible season....

That's a fair review which a tend to basically agree with
