There’s gotta be a good story lurking behind your screen nameI watched the replay of the UConn/GT game today.
Three quick takeaways:
1) We should dominate them on the boards, they don't team rebound, a lot of their guys just watch the shot after it goes up. I think it's at least +15 differential.
2) While they are not a small team they dont have the height of typical GT teams.
3) Mack is good going to the hole on screens. He dips his shoulder well, it will be interesting to see if he can get into the chest of Wilcher. Would've like to see Smith in this game but it's better he heals up rather than worsen the injury.
Georgetown when they are good gets a decent showing at the Garden (I am talking post-John Thompson II and Ewing/Mourning). Back in the heyday for them, they attracted lots of fans from all over.
They have a decent amount of Alum in the NYC area, but less than some other schools.
Tomorrow night, I'm thinking 12,000-13,000, with 15% quiet Georgetown fans.
The last game I went to before the pandemic was Georgetown vs. St. John's BET, then the next day we were ahead of Creighton at the half in the quarterfinals, BET ended due to Covid, so technically I say we won the tournament that year.
Anyway, we came back to beat Georgetown the night before (March 11, 2020), all hell broke loose thereafter.
I enjoyed it because of a very loud obnoxious GTown fan next to me, kept giving me the business all night, until we pulled it out. His Georgetown daughter next to him was very polite. [I didn't yet know the 114 crew, or else I might have been with them instead]
If my sense of humor bothers you, so be it. No “pining” for anything, just trying for some levity, but thx for the feedback.“and Johnnies continue the recruiting of portal 24 year olds.” Unnecessarily snarky, Paultzie, no?
The landscape of college bball has changed. We all pine for freshmen who stayed 4 years and grew with the program. Jeez, Mark Jackson couldn’t start as a freshman. But Rick’s in his 70’s and he has to win NOW!
I think not being ranked will help with this.Let down game. Color me concerned.
The fact is that the BE doesn't have football and so it benefits the NCAA economically to raise the profile of football teams at the expense of the BE. I am 99% sure that's why Mountain West got all their teams in last year over the BE.
A hot St. John's team is primed to capture the city's heart!
Can't wait for everyone to tune into..... oh FFS
You beat me to it.
Sneakily one of my favorite games of the 2000s. Earlington and LJ were both on fire coming down the stretch. Felt like a 20-0 run to end the game.
Then the NBA shut down on the way home and that was that for a while...
Agreed and I understand the logic on let down but our team plays hungry and it’s a game at MSG so I’m not overly concerned. Gtown will be desperate though so need to come out with full effort from opening tip.I think not being ranked will help with this.
I did not get Covid at that March 11, 2020 Georgetown game, but yesterday I did for the first time. The first game for one of my kids. People were starting to get scared of leaving the house, saw ticket prices dropping, and a group of us went in together. Fun game to be at and they all still talk about it.
I also went to game. Great game we ran them off there feet. People thought I was crazy that I went.I did not get Covid at that March 11, 2020 Georgetown game, but yesterday I did for the first time.
Anybody come down with Covid after attending the cancelled 2020 BE Tournament??
