Fwiw, heard they are not counting on it, but we’ll seeI keep seeing periodic references to it but does anyone know for sure if Deivon has another year of eligibility under rules as they exist today?

Good analogy, Moose was right, “Give LMF a few years and he will grow on you”He's like a gadget player in the NFL. He makes some explosive plays for you in a variety of contexts.
You could go with a steady diet of him in the right offense, but in our structure he's a super contributor in very specific ways
True story: My best friend's brother meets my (first) wife-to-be for the first time around the time we got engaged. I've known him for probably 15 years at this point. He asks my intended "how long have you known him?" and she tells him 2 years or whatever it was. To which he responds "Really? It usually takes about 7 years to get to know and like him!"Good analogy, Moose was right, “Give LMF a few years and he will grow on you”
Takeaway #4: St. John’s is protecting the ball
This is the fifth straight game in which the team has had ten or fewer turnovers. The top team in the nation, Marquette, averages 9.0 turnovers per game. St. John’s now has 45 turnovers in the last five games, a rate of 9.0 per game, in this stretch, tying the nation’s leader in having the fewest turnovers per game.

Well if it’s a lawsuit regarding a St. John’s player and additional eligibility we already know how that one comes out.FYI -- less about rules and more about the very specific lawsuit regarding guys who had to sit out for part of last year.
I don't know the answer, but I really hope he is.
It’s somehow the only ones the NCAA doesn’t concede.Well if it’s a lawsuit regarding a St. John’s player and additional eligibility we already know how that one comes out.
That's not really the point. No you cannot expect to win every night when you shoot poorly, you're right.I think that this game clearly showed the value of Smith to the team. Not only does he force a quicker tempo but he is our most reliable long range shooter. While Wilcher finally hit a shot in the closing minutes, he couldn’t put the ball in the ocean and probably needed a break at some point.
And while we are winning these games with tremendous defensive effort, believing we can continue to shoot poorly or have such poor starts and overcome them, against quality teams, is fools gold. How we fair against Yukon and Marquette at home will tell us much.
Yup we’ve designated as the official exception proves the rule school. It’s somehow the only ones the NCAA doesn’t concede.
Agree. He hesitates at which time the opportunity is lost. He needs to go right up. Frankly, I’d like to see him go up 1 handed and slam…if you get blocked, so whatMy opinion is he is raw offensively but has good days and bad days. Definitely can finish around the basket but does have trouble in heavy traffic. Zuby was similar last year and his improvement has been radical and much quicket than anticipated.
He will play against good teams and it is part of his development. With his size and strength can become formidable. In terms of ceiling we have never had 3 big men like this before and certainly not getting schooled by a master like Pitino.
Would not be shocked to see Vince drop 8 or 10 points and 6 rebounds against a top team. With guards that can pass and attack the basket, he can be the beneficiary of easy buckets.
There is no chance he can become formidable at this level. He’s more than halfway through his junior year and he’s completely lost out there. My opinion is he is raw offensively but has good days and bad days. I think the point also is that while the team has played consistently hard, it’s poor shooting in multiple games has made the outcome closer then need be. We were fortunate in the Georgetown game that the Hoyas too missed several easy shots around the rim at games end. With some you can credit the defense with others….. divine intervention? But had some of those shots gone in????? Here’s hoping the shooting picks up cause the better teams may make those shots at games end. That's not really the point. No you cannot expect to win every night when you shoot poorly, you're right.
But a basic axiom in basketball is, you can't shoot well evey night. You CAN play great defense every game and as a result win.games you would only have otherwise won when you shot well.
Not fool's gold at all just a dime sion thatbsome great teams have.

I don't think we'll see Vince playing in the last five minutes of close games unless Zuby has fouled outGood point. The outside shooting woes are worrisome . Although we made 8 3’s vs Hoyas , it took 24 attempts .
The attempts are not the problem . It’s the number of made 3’s .
So , we got 24 points from our 3’s . Contrast that with a prior game where we made 1 -23 or something .
We were lucky against G’Town as they only made 2 3’s for 6 points . On only 8 shots , I think .
Against UCONN, Marquette we will need a good number of 3 pointers made . Since they will likely shoot a good number , we need a minimum of 4 or 5 ourselves
We also , to date , haven’t really blown out any team . The Nova and G’Town games were very close . Not decided until the last 4-5 minutes or so . 2 games that easily could have gone the other way.
And , as the season rolls on , we don’t want to dig ourselves too many double digit holes to overcome . That isn’t going to happen against the Huskies and Eagles .
Lastly , I’m petitioning Pitino to forbid Vince to shoot anything other than a dunk , if he’s in the game in the last 5 minutes .
We dodged a bullet Vs the Hoyas when RJ missed the 2 free throws in the final minutes . Can’t heap too much blame on him but , in close games those free throws are often the difference between victory and a loss .
And , can we stop with dumping on Wilcher ? He’s the 4 th or 5 th option to shoot on this team and he gets far fewer attempts than RJ, KR, Scott , Smith .Zuby
if GTown scored more than us... they would have won.some real good analysis going on in here. Wait if georgetown made some of the shots they missed we would've been in big trouble? Do I have that right
It is almost like if we made some of the easy shots WE missed Georgetown would have been in big trouble too. It is college basketball. Kids miss shots. Zuby botched one of the easiest layups he has had all year in the second half. But we grinded this one out. Without our point guard who is vital on both sides of the ball.
