Georgetown game

So Sheed isn't allowed to talk to the media.

But Dom has the green light to supply bulletin board material?

SMH

Free reign to a walking technical foul...just like has on the court. He's the last kid that I would let talk to the media. He says Gtown hits you when you run through lane. When was the last time Dom Pointer ran through lane? He says he doesn't mind because he likes contact. Then why does he go bizerk every time he is touched, and why doesn't he ever initiate contact on the glass or fighting through screens? I'm tired of this kid self-promoting to make people believe he is a tough blue collar player. He's a finesse player.

At least his offensive rebounding has improved dramatically. :cheer:

This could be a defining game for the juniors

Definitely a defining game for our juniors who have never been close to beating this team. Especially Harrison who needs to be huge tonight on both ends. I would love to see him come out like he did against Marquette.

The 2 keys to this game are keeping smith Rivera in check from the outside. He torched us last game. And knowing where Lubick is at all times. He always seems to be in the right spot for an offensive rebound or a draw and kick to a cutting guard. He is very smart and we have to be one step ahead of him.

For those with short memories (like myself), our starting five from the first meeting back on Jan 4: Sanchez, Ndiaye (gulp), Harrison, Pointer, Balamou.

Leading scorer: Hooper (13).

Thirteen guys got floor time… Let that sink in.

Man, we have come a long way in a few weeks. LET’S GO REDMEN!!!

Anyone have the word on how Ndiaye looked in practice this week????

He actually has the flu and won't play per Braziller.

You are always such a positive poster about the team, but you really dis-like Dom's game huh? I want to see him poster-ize someone tonight :cheer:

While he certainly has faults I love how Dom takes charges. Haven't noticed it the last couple of games but it always seems like he draws one or 2 during games that are noticeable.

Hopefully he draws a few tonight

Dom is an asset...just needs to stop going to extremes to make something happen...avoid forcing drives and reaching in on defense too much

I am a big effort guy. I love guys that play physical, get dirty, and do the little things--guys like Postell and Grant. Dom had me fooled for a while. He's a freak athlete and he says the things you want to hear from a blue collar guy, but he does the exact opposite on the court. He's a pro at hamming it up for the camera by playing his man chest to chest 35 feet from the basket, slapping the ground, pounding his chest, clapping...until his man gets him by a step or a screen comes his way...at that point he stands straight up and either runs around the screen or lets his man blow by him to go for the backside block. It's lazy. It's not physical at all. Stay low...fight through a damn screen...try to actually recover on defense instead of letting your man by you and hoping you can get bailed out by a last second block. He gives up more layups than anyone on the team.

I see offensive rebounding as the best indicator of hustle...especially for forwards. Dom is nonexistent on the glass. He doesn't even pretend to try. He is holding this team back more than anyone realizes. Look at the production every top ten team gets from the SF position. Every single team in the top ten either has a SG or SF averaging 1.5-3.1 offensive rebounds per game and a forward shooting 35% or higher from three. He shoots 11% from three, he has a horrible handle, he is not even defended anymore and makes it impossible for the team to space the floor properly. He's an automatic 1-2 goaltends per game and you can write him down for 1-2 second half turnovers and a horribly timed foul. The two things that make it so much harder to accept are his elite athletic gifts and the fact that he's never covered or boxed out. He has a clear path to follow every shot. Swap Dom out with Postell, a guy who followed EVERYTHING, and this would be a top 15 team. Hell, swap him for Paris Horne, and we'd have 20 wins and a top 25 ranking.

Every five or six games Dom goes crazy and looks amazing. Today might be one of those days, but they are few and far between.

Can't argue with most of what you say. Glitz v. Substance too often.

While I will certainly be rooting for the win tonight our chances against Georgetown will certainly be difficult. Georgetown's size and aggressive style of play doesn't bode well for our players across the board. Their guard play kills us every time. While I expect that we'll compete better tonight I would be surprised with the win. Good luck players and coaches... We will certainly need it tonight..

He looked great. But unfortunately can't play due to the Flu LOL.

Keys to victory tonight... Defensively we have to be much better on the back door and picks, and aggressively defend the 3 point shot. On offense we need to spread the court wide and let Rasheed penetrate. Our guards don't penetrate enough.. If g town plays zone then we need to hit 3's..
