Georgetown game

The only problem i had with this game.....why can't we win with a little class? I get it, this was a huge win, we are playing really well, and these are still kids out there. But after the Obekpa block, why can't he just run down the court instead of talking sh*t to the other player. The Jordan tomahawk....it was a great dunk and all, but why the need to pound your chest afterwards? I am all about getting excited, but there is a difference between playing with emotion and making yourself look like a punk.

And at the end of the day, even though we are playing our best ball right now, we still have a lot of work to do. If the tournament were to start tomorrow, we would be on the outside looking in.
Jumbo...not sure if you were at the game...But, GT was talking trash the whole night and tried to rough up Jordan after his early start...they got their come uppance
GT is just a very dirty team and they got what was coming to them

To Jumbo - We held serve on our own court.

Best part of the night: As the clock wore down, the Garden crowd was nearly unilaterally on its feet, roaring its approval for our kids. I'm certain it was the loudest the Garden has been in three years, and something that the current squad has never heard.

Jordan is clearly the one guard now, and Harrison can focus on getting the ball in the spots he likes best. The great thing about Jordan is that when you give him the ball, there's a great chance you will get it back. Sanchez throws some pretty nice passes from the baseline, and this team is starting to love making that extra pass for an easy deuce.

Had to love Jordan's early dominance, and his double pump windmill jam at the end. Harrison loved running out the clock when G'Town finally gave up, and Obekpa stood a dozen feet away at the top of the key applauding the victory as Harrison dribbled and chatted with the ref. When the final buzzer sounded, Harrison was screaming towards the right corner for 20 seconds or so. Does anyone know if he had someone in mind, or was just cherishing the moment?

Anyone know what happen between coach Keady and the geargetown player? Looked lie coach was going to have a stroke or tackle the kid.

One of the G-town players hit a high arcing jumper with the clock running down..
It looked like the G-Town player running down the sideline said something to the SJU bench, becuase Keady and a bunch of others went nuts immediately.

Aaron Bowen.

We have arrived! This is going to be a fun finish. There is no team in the country that we can not beat right now. Harrison with possibly the best game of his St John's career. A defining win for him and our entire team. And Rysheed? Wow!!

D'Lo had several relatives at the game. That is who he was "shouting at" after the game was over.

The team I use to dream about over the summer is here. We are a scary team, our defense has been very impressive, no team wants to play us! One game at a time boys, great fu*king win !! St. John's for life !!!!

Just left Tracks in Penn post game (Stout was packed) and on the LIRR heading home. How sweet it is. Great job, big win against Gtowm. Absolutely loved that Tradwick fouled out and did so on a play caused by his typical style of play for which he received a technical. So sweet the victory.

@NYPost_Brazille: Lavin said Jamal Branch hadn't practice last several days, so kept him out. Thinks he will practice Mon, play Tues. #sjubb

The kid is so amped it's sometimes hard to tell his rants from his exortations. I was guessing it was the latter. Thanks for the explanation.

DLo hit a H-U-U-U-G-E three to stop the bleeding late when Georgetown had chipped the lead to 7. He also got absolutely hammered a few minutes later. You could hear the thud of his body slamming hardwood from my seat up in the high rows of the 100s. Didn't say a peep, and slowly got up after a minute or two crumpled on the court, and nailed two free throws. No question he is the heart and soul of this squad, and is playing his best ball of his SJU career during this run.

I was at the game and was impressed by the crowd and the enthusiasm of the fans. I love seeing the old time- long time StJohns fans cheering their Johnnies.

I agree with most on this board, Georgetown is a dirty team. They try to hurt guys. They went after Rysheed after his hot start and the foul on Harrison at the end when he went to the floor was a flagrant foul. They got what they deserved.

Sanchez played very well tonight. If he plays like this the rest of the way and even develops a little more, the sky is the limit for this team if he and Sheed can both play at a high level.

Fantastic win!! Now Butler becomes a trap game with Villanova lurking. Let's put Butler away early. I don't think they can play with us inside. Especially if Sanchez and Obepka continue to play at the level they've been playing at.

You must've missed the last Georgetown game, they kept their starters in the entire time and pressed us all the way until the end. We also haven't played Georgetown close since the hardy year. They HAD IT COMING. I'd honestly agree with you if we were playing anyone else, Georgetown and Syracuse I accept that behavior against, no one else

You either have class or you don't; you can't pick and choose.

I hated watching the big lead we had melt to 7 points, then Lavin called time out! When they returned to the court they never looked back and built the lead back up again. They simply exerted the will! Georgetown had no answers, their players on the bench looked like they were on the wrong side of a real beating!

Not true, if you're playing a dirty team that has been in sportsmanlike in the past and dirty during the game, there's nothing wrong with throwing down a couple of highlight reel dunks at the end of the game. This is a group of kids that has taken five games worth of beat downs from the hoyas, and we are gonna call our guys classless for throwing down two dunks??

Not a matter of picking and choosing. If G'Town refused to let up the last time we played, it probably figured in Lavin's decision to keep starters in and give Thompson a dose of his own medicine. For our part, Georgetown didn't give up until the very last possession, and their sloppiness led to a couple of breakaways on our part. Why let up, and win by only 6 or 7 points, which could influence to NCAA committee if we are one of three or four Big east teams tied for third at 10-8. Georgetown played hard the entire game and so did we. I have no problem with how we finished.

Jordan 8-11 (including 3-6 from 3) 5-6 form the line for an extremely efficient 24 points.
Harrison 7-15 (including 2-6 from 3) 8-8 from the line for a strong 24 point effort.

This is quickly shaping up as one of the best backcourts in the nation.

I didn't comment at all at what happened in this game or any other. I just don't think you pick and choose when to do the right thing nd then try to justify actions you think are less than classy or acceptable. Obviously you think they were ("if we were playing anyone else, Georgetown and Syracuse I accept that behavior against, no one else"). Just my opinion. As for the game, if JTIII took out his starters we should have; he didn't, so keep playing ball. I don't like trash talking but the game has changed and unwritten rules of sportsmanship just aren't part of the game anymore so to me the way we played to close out the game was nothing to even comment on.

I have to add it felt so goodto see D'Lo have a great game after all the struggles against Georgetown. Also it seems like he never misses from the line!

This is Georgetown. Personally I would have pissed on their team bus if I knew where it was. There was nothing wrong with anything we did tonight. I'm actually super glad we smacked them the f*ck down.

Butler I want to beat like gentleman but Georgetown deserves bitchslapping
