Georgetown game

Now that was an electric atmosphere last night. Hands down the most energy in the building since the Syracuse game. A few thoughts:

After reading all of these posts, I'm convinced Joe3 is back lol.

Memo to the guys that insult our team when things go bad- the teams we are playing are also good teams, they will make runs.

Highlight for me in addition to the win was finally meeting Kranmars and MJmaherjr.

Students were great, keep it going.

I really like your posts, and agree with nearly all of them. I've met both those guys - really good guys. I think I've met you too, at the Lapchick dinner, right - at my table?

And yea, it's either coaching this, or dump on some player's ability, and now dump on a little mild exclamation points on the win. It makes you yearn for the days where we'd beat St. Francis by two points and Norm would proclaim it a really great win.

Yes Beast, you and I were at the same table. You were the first Redmen.comer I ever met actually. Maybe we can all meet up early for the Butler game since it's a 9:00 start.

Now if only Greg Bodkin would stop loudly calling me Beast in front of my family. :)

.
thats hilarious

The only problem i had with this game.....why can't we win with a little class? I get it, this was a huge win, we are playing really well, and these are still kids out there. But after the Obekpa block, why can't he just run down the court instead of talking sh*t to the other player. The Jordan tomahawk....it was a great dunk and all, but why the need to pound your chest afterwards? I am all about getting excited, but there is a difference between playing with emotion and making yourself look like a punk.

And at the end of the day, even though we are playing our best ball right now, we still have a lot of work to do. If the tournament were to start tomorrow, we would be on the outside looking in.

This is Georgetown. Personally I would have pissed on their team bus if I knew where it was. There was nothing wrong with anything we did tonight. I'm actually super glad we smacked them the f*ck down.

Butler I want to beat like gentleman but Georgetown deserves bitchslapping

Of all of your posts, many of which are terrific, this is the winner.
Much karma.

Extremely well stated !!!!

At first I thought yea, maybe we should have showed more class, Sheed shouldn't have dunked it at the end, etc. But now watching this replay, I have to say I'm glad we went out like that. From the cheap foul on Obepka to Harrison getting clotheslined to them pressing down 20!!!!! I mean c'mon. If you're going to press down 20 with a minute left, that's an indication the other team can do whatever they want to score.

So what you are saying is you won't yell "motherf*cker" at the Butler game? ;)

Back from the game, and I have two observations to offer...

1) I have never seen a line of St. John's fans waiting to get into a bar like I did at stout after the game tonight. That was incredible. With Monday off I think every one was Ina mood to celebrate, great atmosphere.

2) if you want good sportsmanship, play intramurals. If you don't want to get scored on, then play better defense. I said the same thing about spurrier at Florida ... are they supposed to stop trying to score? Is a boxer with a big lead in the 11th round expected to not try to land a knock-out? No, it's entirely their prerogative to keep playing hard.
It's just nice to be on the other end of a beat-down for a change. Showboating is a lot of fun when it's your guys playing for the cameras! Also, Georgetown threw elbows all game long, they deserved to get punked at the end.

Most fans I ever saw at bars after the game was after the Pitt game we won with the incredible hardy last second score on the reverse scoop after tiptoeing down the baseline. Every bar in the area was drowned in fans. And we were some happy f'ing fans!

You are so right. I got a parking ticket after that game and did not care one bit.

One of the most exciting games (and finishes!) I ever saw.

The way I see it, is if a team is fouling us on purpose and wants to keep playing, Why not dunk?

Not sure if anyone noticed it but Lubick had thrown a shoulder into Sheed after a dead ball in the first half. Sheed ignored him (I think Sheed had just been called for a foul).

So, again, I have zero qualms with the windmill.

MSG is his home court.

Nah. Butler I'll be more subdued. lol

This rivalry is starting to be reminiscent of the early eighties, and I think a healthy rivalry with Creighton is also in the making. This was the kind of msg game that fox envisioned when they gave the conference the lucrative contract. The game looked and sounded great on television. The post-season games at msg should be competitive, and I think you'll find interacting with the fans from the new schools decidedly more pleasant than all those years with the toxic Syracuse and UConn fans.

I saw that. Smith Rivera also threw a shoulder at sheed. They are just mad that a point guard who scored 2 points on them in the first meeting is lighting them up. He is quickly becoming our best player. He is so good now that he's got all his confidence.

Dangelo was also huge last night. Every big shot he needed to hit, he hit it. His role was perfect last night.

Let's keep rolling!

LOVE the new profile pic.

Damn, that event (and the game shot) looks like fun. Wish I could be there to enjoy with the rest of the redmen.com and St. John's crew.
