Georgetown game

How was the crowd in terms of attendance and energy? I know we had some major recruits watching at msg.

I'm in Florida and was not able to watch unfortunately.

I am in Florida as well and I see just about every game! Try Fox Sports on Channel 450.

lower bowl really crowded. upper only a couple of sections. my guess is maybe 10 or 11k

very loud crowd though. you could feel the buzz even before the game started.

I think someone said 10,300

Gtown came out strong with the same military look- uniform they had in the season opener at U.S army base in here, South Korea.

The battle was more than rivalry, winning streak or dropping below .500 for both.

Huge win ! Go red !!

The only problem i had with this game.....why can't we win with a little class? I get it, this was a huge win, we are playing really well, and these are still kids out there. But after the Obekpa block, why can't he just run down the court instead of talking sh*t to the other player. The Jordan tomahawk....it was a great dunk and all, but why the need to pound your chest afterwards? I am all about getting excited, but there is a difference between playing with emotion and making yourself look like a punk.

And at the end of the day, even though we are playing our best ball right now, we still have a lot of work to do. If the tournament were to start tomorrow, we would be on the outside looking in.

This is Georgetown. Personally I would have pissed on their team bus if I knew where it was. There was nothing wrong with anything we did tonight. I'm actually super glad we smacked them the f*ck down.

Butler I want to beat like gentleman but Georgetown deserves bitchslapping

I 'm beginning to want to throw Creighton into the G'town category too.. Their fans are a bit hard to take for a team that hasn't won anything yet. Other than claiming they are the Champs of Philadelphia, after blowing out Nova again.

We may have to face the bluejays again in the tourney .. While McDermott is a great player , he does get all the calls from the refs. He's earned respect but, not sainthood yet.

Nova just doesn't match up well with the jays and bore the beating again.

Got back from the game about a half-hour ago and I am still pumped up. I loved the way our guys played tonight, especially holding off that Georgetown run when they cut the lead to 7. This team matures with every game like this.

Kudos to the students for a terrific turnout on a Sunday night. And I've never been to the Garden where it was rocking like it did tonight!

And it was great to meet two fellow .comers. Sat in the same row as Russell and met Paultzman on the train ride home. Great meeting you both and celebrating with you both!

Great meeting you Tony as well. Nice to celebrate a win over GT with great folks. Section 114 is so much fun. (When we win! Ha!) Mjm & the boys were on a roll, like the Johnnies, last night. Fun evening with a great bunch of guys!

we've got some great karma lately in our section. We were worried about Kranmars sister going into labor there at the game because it was so exciting.

And we will have Gman back soon also

I don't really want to get involved in this class vs. no class argument, but just admit one thing...didnt it feel remotely good to be the team dishing it out rather than the team receiving it?

It did to me. About time, in fact. Especially against these guys.

Let's just call it celebratory and youthful exuberance and leave it at that.

Now that was an electric atmosphere last night. Hands down the most energy in the building since the Syracuse game. A few thoughts:

After reading all of these posts, I'm convinced Joe3 is back lol.

Memo to the guys that insult our team when things go bad- the teams we are playing are also good teams, they will make runs.

Highlight for me in addition to the win was finally meeting Kranmars and MJmaherjr.

Students were great, keep it going.

Thanks. Great meeting you too NYC.

They got the snot kicked out of them last month by the same team and this isn't exactly the cleanest team in the world. Many of the players were quoted as saying this was a "revenge" game and that they not only wanted to win but win decisively.
These are glorified teenagers and sometimes a lot of people seem to forget that. Considering the way they were fouling us I can't blame them. This wasn't Pointer getting double teamed in Providence with 10 secs left, this was CO getting elbowed 25 feet from the basket and D'Lo getting dropped the floor like a sack of potatoes. With 2 something minutes left, too.

I really like your posts, and agree with nearly all of them. I've met both those guys - really good guys. I think I've met you too, at the Lapchick dinner, right - at my table?

And yea, it's either coaching this, or dump on some player's ability, and now dump on a little mild exclamation points on the win. It makes you yearn for the days where we'd beat St. Francis by two points and Norm would proclaim it a really great win.

Yes Beast, you and I were at the same table. You were the first Redmen.comer I ever met actually. Maybe we can all meet up early for the Butler game since it's a 9:00 start.

Now if only Greg Bodkin would stop loudly calling me Beast in front of my family. :)

As an FYI Moose was there with his usual posse yesterday. I want to call him out for not being on his feet during the many standing ovations - bad knees? or he's just a cerebral fan.

And Guinness, yes, I agree with your assessment of the Georgetown hard fouls. I hate that Nate kid, too.

Speaking of who was there:

"...St. John’s hosted Roselle Catholic (N.J.) standout Isaiah Briscoe, considered one of the top junior point guards in the country, for the game. Wings Academy junior center Jessie Govan, another St. John’s target, was also on hand...."

From the Post piece.

While I don't like dirty teams, I like the rough style of play. I think it works to our advantage. That's why we are a better matchup against Creighton than Nova is. Hopefully, we show the same toughness against Nova...and the refs lets us play.
