Georgetown game

We've been prison raped by Georgetown for 30 years and people are complaining that we don't win with class. I love the trash talk because people have been doing it to us and we took it like pu$$ies for tool long. Now we are showing heart.

2.5 weeks ago I mentioned we were 3 1/2 games out of 3rd place. Now we are only .5 game back!!! Unbelievable turnaround. This one never was in doubt which to me shows how far this team has come.

I thought it was in doubt when the lead was cut to seven
took the easy way out and shut the TV for a while and paced the floors - "My bad" as my son says
great win
fun reading all these posts - thanks for all of them
do you think the Prince of North Philly has shut naysayers about his choice of schools?

I wish they'd replay the game - where I'm at it ended then switched away too soon

It's being replayed at 9am (EST) tomorrow.

Thank you MJD - on Fox I assume
"Poor me" I'll be in Aruba (though maybe they'll have it on satellite station - then the best of all worlds)
good feelings for the entire SJU family -
QUESTION I wonder if any top recruits were at the game!?!

Word was that Isaiah Briscoe and his family were going to be hosted by SJU. I assume he was there.

You're welcome, SS&G! Yes, it'll be on FS1.

I'm not sure about the recruits at the game, but I wouldn't doubt there was a recruit or two at tonight's game.

A night to remember.
A night to savor.

Obekpa led the team in assists with 4 and did I hear Pointer scream "Marillac" when he landed his o-board and put it back for 2?

Another ghost exorcized.

I know we debate X's and O's, strategy, player development etc (all of which is fair and is reasonable for fans to do) but I'd like to take a sec to acknowledge an "intangible" that has been mocked a bit on this site. Coach has been criticized (again fair game) but applauded for being positive (yes I'm looking at you lawmanfan and I know I've broken the parenthesis record). As a fan of IU as well I can tell you that the reason that Crean ( a superb tactician and recruiter) gets crushed at Purdue yesterday and can't finish a season well is because he's unlike Lavin, who never seems to panic. Players respond to this. Faith in the skill of the athlete as important as anything a coach can do. Just saying

The only problem i had with this game.....why can't we win with a little class? I get it, this was a huge win, we are playing really well, and these are still kids out there. But after the Obekpa block, why can't he just run down the court instead of talking sh*t to the other player. The Jordan tomahawk....it was a great dunk and all, but why the need to pound your chest afterwards? I am all about getting excited, but there is a difference between playing with emotion and making yourself look like a punk.

And at the end of the day, even though we are playing our best ball right now, we still have a lot of work to do. If the tournament were to start tomorrow, we would be on the outside looking in.

Was that Jordan or Sanchez with the dunk? I thought it was Sanchez?
I don't blame the kids at all. The Gtown players were giving it right back to them, and they did got rocked last game. I really dislike Lubick. He can't even give a foul without being a douche. The guys on Georgetown all have arms twice as thick as our guys...it's crazy.

Sanchez had the two-handed dunk in the halfcourt, and Jordan had the tomahawk dunk at the end.

Marillac you missed Jordans windmill? I told you before the season that this kid is as explosive as anyone on this team!

I was celebrating Obekpa's block and outlet. BTW, I don't know how the hell Obekpa could block that shot, secure it, and have the presence of mind to identify and pass the ball to Jordan.I really wanted to beat them by 20+ I saw it, but I saw the "3" on the jersey and thought it was Sanchez. I was like damnnnnn Sanchez. It makes more sense now that I hear it was Jordan. Jordan is a tough guy to pick out on the court sometimes, because he is a tall, lengthy dude. Sometimes when I'm not paying attention I think he's Sampson or Pointer until I see him dribble.

No one brings it all. No spouse, kid, job....we are soooo fortunate to have Lavin as our coach - there will be downs and disappointments of course but
the intangibles, the magnetism, the upswing in recruiting and coverage
he can always get the xs and os from an able assistant

all the best

In the new big east there's no one I hate nore than Creighton and GT. Its been a great week.

Creighton? Really? Then I'm guessing you don't have 20+ or 30+ ... or even 10+ ... years of Big East rivalries under your belt.

Great win. I will happy to see Branch back. He will be important down the stretch.

I agree. They have a long way to go to surpass providence, seton hall and nova.

Hahaha He played a pretty good game. He had some nice passes and didn't try to do too much.
He acted like a few screens were 15x15 fences and let a few guys go by for easy layups, but so did Greene and Joran.
My other whipping boy, Sanchez, was actually good!

Yes he was along with Jessie Govan

McElbow gets away with WAY too much and still he complains about everything. The refs have been crazy calling any time an elbow gets to throat level. No calls on McElbow though despite the fact that he's done it sever times. Did get a call last year against Cincinnati for the same thing but this season he is untouchable. Pretty much every single time he is down low with the ball he's got an elbow in the defender's gut, chest or throat. Never gets called. The tall kid Artimo or whatever looked like he was going to cry when they were up 20 or so and he got called for a foul. The whole time mumbling and complaining as he walked to the bench. Gibbs was giving the ref a lecture. Literally looked like he was talking down to a two year old explaining things to him and smiling patronizingly. The refs for whatever reason buy it and don't get annoyed with it.

Whiniest team ever.
