Georgetown 1st Game

We need to go 4 - 1 in the last 5 Jack. Otherwise everything depends on our performance in BE Tournament. We can do that if we can get healthy.

Other than last year, Harrison never shows up against Gtown

He's never showed up @GTOWN. he played well at the garden once as you said, but I don't think he's ever scored more than 4 points at the verizon center

TERRIBLE GAME WE DO NOT DESERVE AN NCAA BID

Relax. Many were worried we would drop both Xavier and gtown games. We got one of two and are fine. The concern right now is getting all over guys healthy for march. Give the players the week off and sit obekpa Saturday and win without him because SH will be Gibb-less.

I don't think that is true at all. If we finish 9-9 we will be fine in my opinion because the bubble continues to thin out.

That's assuming that the other bubble from the power conferences don't come up with some quality wins against ranked teams which they have more of an opportunity to do than we do.

We just gotta take it one game at a time. Health is a priority. I'm a bit baffled by tonight. We were up 19-17 and looked fine and then we just collapsed. Strange. I don't know what to make of it but let's just move forward

It seemed all the air was let out after Jordan's tech. It was rather odd, as we had shown some resilience of late. It was one of those weird looking games. Almost like they didn't wanna be there, afterwards. Lethargic.

This one will bug me all week now until Saturday. Just win and keep moving. Beat SH and then Xavier. I think our matchup against Xavier is a good one. DLo just needs to get better and maybe for all we know he is fine but it was just another bad night for him against Georgetown who he can't seem to play well against

Unfortunately this matchup was easy to see and predict. The other easy prediction is we win 7 games in big east if we don't play at our best down the stretch and win 9 games if we play well and beat hall, Marquette and Xavier or lose one of them and beat gtown at home. We ain't beating nova so forget it folks. Lavin is a decent coach and good for the school. He probably won't get us to where we would dream we can be, but we aren't a top echelon program and haven't been.. We can be a Top 100 more years than not possible going forward if lavin stays another 5 years, unfortunately we were not able to get a decent big this year which would have made us stronger and put us in the top of the conference instead of .500 at best.. The results are won off season not in seaon. Still rooting but my expectations are set..

Georgetown did the right thing all night long. They smothered DLO. Then they lived in the paint. We don't normally score from the perimeter. Well played by G'town. Anyone who says JT 3 is not a good coach does not understand that he was schooled by his dad who was a great coach. Coaching won this game and we were out-coached.

No way we win against seton hall without oblockpa, Gibbs being out won't hurt them as much as you think b cause their players will step up and their bigs will kill us like they did in the first game. We don't have this luxury and lavin and the staff know it. They will be motivated to turn there season around against us.

I'd like to say we'll get them at the garden but we were so outclassed as the Hoyas toyed with us. Talk about giving them confidence. At the start of the game all I saw was grey uniforms rebounding at the defensive end with not a Johnnie in sight. And getting second shots as they totally outhustled us.
There is no doubt in my mind that Obekpa needs to recover from his ankle injury. We are going nowhere without him.
Need victories over the Hall, Marquette and Xavier. And if there is enough novenas maybe, just maybe we'll surprise G'town. Everyone has to be healthy by the time we go up against Nova.

We started a bottle of wine for dinner and I held myself to 1 glass. After this loss I just finished off the bottle and drank the last 2 glasses out of it.

Game sucked but at least the wine was excellent

Mobley isn't healthy, either. Delgado is.... well, Delgado.

Gibbs and Sina (to an extent, Carrington) were the one's who truly hurt us. Gibbs and Sina was hitting timely shots (mainly, of the long range variety) versus us.

Guess what? Gibbs and Sina ain't walking through the door on Saturday. Carrington can't shoot, and hasn't particularly played well of late. Yes, they have Whitehead this time, but they're gonna miss Gibbs and Sina, IMO.

It was a bad sign when we were down 10 at the half and they were 0 for 10 from 3. They proceeded to hit their first 7 threes in the second half.

Get three of the next five and win one BET game.

Jordan and Harrison need to get back on track at home.

I'm afraid that this team is not going anywhere. We are to inconsistent! When I see a team like Villanova shoot the ball like they do I want to kill somebody! We are mediocre at best! How does Harrison go 0-11? Rooting for this team will age you quick, and I cannot afford to age quick at 64!
Good night!

9-9 is too risky, IMO, and I'm not a fan of having to win a game in the conference tournament to get in. Unless, one of those 9 wins is against Villanova, then I don't want any part of going 9-9.

Don't get wrong.... I understand what you're saying, and I do believe 9-9 and a win in the Big East tournament will get us in (based, on our strong RPI). Personally, I'd like to be 10-8, and sitting firmly in the (NCAA) tournament going into the Big East tournament.

I feel bad for our super fans that made the trip. They deserved a better showing by our Johnnies.
We will never win games with subpar performances by Harrison and Jordan. Add a gimpy Obekpa and the result was not surprising. As I am sure has been stated, since I am too tired and annoyed to read all the posts, we handed the Hoyas the game with unforced turnovers and porous defense combined with no show performances by Harrison and Jordan. Lavin conceded the game around the 12 minute mark of the second half when it became obvious no points were going to come from our bench. It is in games like this that the absence of Keith Thomas and the 350 lbs of Adonis were missed in guarding the GTown bigs. Joey was good for 5 minutes but has no idea of how to use his body.

Now for the positives. Their backs are back up against the wall. They think they play harder under those conditions and they set themselves up perfectly for the Seton Hall match. Show us some onions now in the next three games.
The bench was used more than in any game in conference play and regardless of the efficiency everyone got a taste of the defeat which should make for some harder practices.Amar in particular continues to improve and Felix Balamou got limited play both of which are good things.

He doesn't play well against G'town because of their defense. Forced us to dribble outside as the Hoyas double teamed every attempt to penetrate. They also clogged the middle forcing us to throw up closely guarded threes. With no offensive boards it was one and done.
Have to give Thompson credit for a well coached game.

During the highlights of our game, Jay Williams on Espn just said we were coming off a loss to Xavier and therefore needed this game.

Glad you're paying attenion Jay!

Hey Desco, did I miss the highlights? Certainly none from the Johnnies.

If CO AND DLO do not heal we have witnessed a coaching blunder equal to the last pass at the Superbowl

Harrison looked fine against Xavier as did Obekpa. No excuse for Harrison but Obekpa clearly played in pain. Only 3 of our guys showed up tonight and that was the difference between a 20 point loss and an overtime loss.
