Ellison and Williams

to me we need 2 bigs now either 2 grad or grad and juco. If we lose Amar then we need 3rd.

I agree that we need 2 bigs. But I disagree with the option that they have to be 2 grads because the next season we would have the same problem. I hope that we will get Moses Brown.

I would get a grad and a freshman (more balance). I don´t understand why we are not recruiting Isaac Kante (local, now playing prep, recruited by Georgetown, Georgia and Kansas State).

Maybe we're not recruiting Kante because he has made if clear that he has no interest in us/staying home. Don't know for certain, but that's the assumption I'll make based on who else is recruiting him and since Matt seems to be on every kid who shows any interest.

I will never understand the fascination with SJU having to recruit every NYC player.

Lately it has more to do with reducing travel costs to pay for Slice's seemingly endless alimony.

Always something. Never a dull moment

Of all the bad things Steve Lavin did here, I think Killing Moose might be the worse. From what I remember Moose was a positive poster through the Norm years. Then he was one of the first to throw Lavin's name out there and it has been all down hill for the Moose man ever since.

Gonna figure that with CM close with Purvis, the Ellison transfer happened after a lot of dialogue and with CMs blessing that he may develop better somewhere else where court time is available.

Williams is a little tougher to figure out, because it appeared he can be a valuable role player even with next year's roster. He was one of the biggest cheerleaders and definitely the biggest jokester on the bench, always clowning around. He was close to Matt, so this was probably one of those cases where WIlliams wants to showcase his stuff with more minutes before starting a career overseas, and SJU also giving him their blessing.

In both cases, it's a sign of imporvement of roster depth that there are not enough minutes for these guys.

Amar will be here unless CM cuts him loose. He loves SJU, his teammates, and I'm gonna guess is reasonably focused on school, and I believe prefers to ride it out here.

Amar moving on.

If we don't get a couple of bigs we're in for another rough season.
When do we get discouraged?

Lets get a grip here boys. DW was a nice little roll player here for us. He would have likely not seen anything more than garbage minutes on any other Big East team. Not a knock on the kid. He did everything we could have asked of him based on talent level and history of injuries. But if we were going to rely on him next year for anything more than a few minutes a game, then we'll likely be in the same boat as we were this year. I fully expect that we'll have a reinforced front court and one that DW would have seem very limited PT on. His moving on seems to be the best for all parties.

Do you feel Alibegovic is the last one? Or do you see more coming?

Would think that would be it, but in this transfer epidemic in college hoops nothing surprises me.

Owens, Clark, Yakwe, Ahmed, Simon, Lovett, Ponds, possibly this" in the bag" eligible transfer and even Mussini will be the core next year. Liked Williams but honestly those 9 guys are who were going to play next year.

If "in the bag" does not show up then Williams and even AA loss will be felt.

All 3 players leaving are transferring because of playing time issues. They must know that others are coming in and taking their spots (Justin Simon, Marvin Clark, transfer big). This 3 right there account for the 3 guys leaving.

I hope in the bag is some player b/c with Yakwe and Owens as our only true bigs we will be very thin up front. I think STJ needs 2 " in the bags"

Supposedly one guy is a big eligible right away and two swing guards that will have to sit out.
Hopefully the "in the bag' guy is better than Norm Roberts "mystery recruit". That mystery recruit was terrible. It was almost like he didn't exist at all. ;)

Ok we've got the transfers done. When do we get some incoming ?

If Williams and/or AA's loss is felt, we are in really deep trouble next year.

If 'in the bag" is not here of course we will. Or "if in the bag" is worse than Williams.
Hope not but would not be shocked if either scenario came true. You?
