Ellison and Williams

3 thoughts immediately popped into my head.

1. Lovett is returning.
2. Simon and Clark must be the real deal.
3. We've got reinforcements coming to the frontcourt.

Shame about both of them. I thought they had places on next year's team. Williams especially.

Is Ellison for real? Transferring because of playing time. He got more then he deserved as far I was concerned. As far as Williams leaving I am really disappointed, actually felt he deserved more playing time. A good fill in for our foul trodden biggies.

Listen, just because he's transferring due to playing time doesn't mean he felt he deserved more this year or next on STJ. Maybe he realized he could get more by stepping down a level and decided that's what he wanted to do.

What college player doesn't think he deserves more playing time? Of course he realized with Lovett staying and Simon taking his playing time it was time to leave. And you don't have to be a brain surgeon to know he'll get more if he goes to a lower program. But I wouldn't be surprised if he desires to stay with a Division 1 team.

My Brother, a big Seton Hall guy, called me yesterday and said, "You must be happy Lovett is coming back." I told him I didn't think it was a sure thing, but he was confident. Disappointing that Malik and DWill are leaving though.

I had high hopes for Malik to become the next Paris Horne, a guy who got thrown into the deep end freshman year only to finish up as a senior a strong contributor. I hope he finds a spot a college he likes and he makes the most of his transfer year to get even more seasoned.

DWill was a bit of a banger and I always liked that. I can never fault a grad transfer. I hope he goes to a school where he starts and gets his advanced degree.

We should put a sign on the Fieldhouse "Scholarships available 6' 7'' and taller good free throw shooting a plus"

Look I wish them both good luck if this is true. But after a yr 0r 2 realization was obvious that both would be a bench players at best.Goal at this stage is to bring in higher skilled players and that is what we are getting with Clark and Simon we now have 2 more ships to accomplish our talent level thereby moving the program level
upward ,College basketball has become a business like in real life people get let go unless you are satisfied with being a bottom feeder and the adm is ok with that then all pressure is off our coaching staff and players but then development is stymied but all is calm even the student body

I don't know if the Williams transfer is a result of playing time. Because of his injuries it seems that more than he played here or would play next year would be hard from a physical stand point and he also gets into a lot of foul trouble. I will miss him though. He was a great surprise when Sima left and had a wonderful attitude. Hopefully he will find a school where he is happy.

As for Ellison I know that many like to talk about his faults but he helped us win a few games as well. He has some skill and I would expect many schools to have interest. He needs a tough coach who will make him play harder and teach him to play smarter. He will be fine in the right program.

Agree

Good luck to both, would have preferred they stayed. Ellison was a frustrating player, but I think he was dedicated and a good teammate. He does have upside and it will be interesting to follow him throughout his final two years.

Of course Ellison will transfer to a Division 1 program
I'm sure there are several competitive mid major D-1 teams that would love Malik

I think he meant high major, big 6 conference.

Williams deserves a lot of praise from the fans. He was one of the few who overachieved this season, and is worthy of an A for effort, A for attitude, and A for teamwork. He never sulked when last off the bench early in the season and played with desire and smarts each and every game. His spot may go to better athletes, but I will miss his positive spirit and great enthusiasm.

Spot on. I would have liked to see him back, but, the problem is he is has had too many surgeries and is too injury prone. It's too bad. I also would have liked to see Ellison as an upperclassman. I wish them both luck at the their new schools.

Agree

I also agree that Malik helped us win a few games but the problem is he helped us lose more games than he helped us win as did to a lesser degree all our players.

Do transfers hurt our APR score? I know schools can get in trouble if they don't achieve a minimum score. I guess with Williams (since he will be graduating) it would not hurt our score. Just not sure about the others....

I don't believe transfers hurt the score as long as they finish the semester, which they both seem to be doing.

Think Ellison could have been a good four year guy but he undoubtedly wants more of a role than he would have had with Ponds, Lovett, Simon and Mussini in the fold (hope noone gets hurt). Williams was a great guy and made the most out of the minutes he played this year but truthfully he was a sometimes bright spot in one of the least effective front lines in Division 1. If we miss him providing depth for us next year then it means we didn't get the grad transfers we need to get us to the dance. We have Owens and Clark and we need two beefy bigs who can board, defend, and at least one of which should be able to operate on offense in the low block. With that and our guard play we should be able to win a lot of games.

We need Yakwe to step up and progress the way he was his freshman year. Owens Clark an improved motivated Yakwe with a ready to go big grad transfer and hopefully an under control Ahmed and we wil be good. I know that's a lot of ifs

to me we need 2 bigs now either 2 grad or grad and juco. If we lose Amar then we need 3rd.

For backcourt I'm fine with taking regular transfers or maybe high scoring juco transfer unless we can pick up a decommitment from someone for backcourt or front court

Damn I get the Ellison transfer but I was really counting on DWill and hoping we saw a big improvement from him

I agree that we need 2 bigs. But I disagree with the option that they have to be 2 grads because the next season we would have the same problem. I hope that we will get Moses Brown.

I would get a grad and a freshman (more balance). I don´t understand why we are not recruiting Isaac Kante (local, now playing prep, recruited by Georgetown, Georgia and Kansas State).
