I'm growing increasingly more concerned as time goes by. Really hope we can land a quality big

I guess I am missing something. We need bigs desperately and this kid is going somewhere to see less minutes.

Given that UConn had two big men transfer out, I would think Ollie would be offering him the opportunity for lots of PT. On the other hand, I would really hate to see him land there.

Although I wish these 2 the best. I, sure hope Matt has something up his sleeve. I would hate to loose these 2 and replace them w mediocre players. So far reading the SJ tranfer thread has been depressing

So far the initial optimism of replacing these two players (Ellison/Williams) has faded. The "in the bag" big man has not materialized and as usual we seem to be looking at guys that are suspects at best. I guess all we can do is wait until we see what the staff brings home before criticizing. We will need to trust they know what they are doing. I just worry as always that we settle on inferior players.

Let's face you read serious discussions on here about keeping Amar Alibegovic?! I agree that we should honor our commitment to him to get his degree and keep him on scholarship. However, if he leaves on his own it is almost no loss to the basketball program from a playing standpoint. He is just not capable of contributing from any real measure. He is just not a BE level player.

This is going to be an ugly place if Williams goes to UConn and averages 13 and 7.

I wouldn't worry about it, Christian Jones averaged 11 and 7 and he wasn't a BE player.

Really, I would love to know why he is leaving. Can't be playing time. Did someone forget to tell him that Sima is gone and Zach Brown isn't coming?

If I had to guess it would be that when he came to St John's we were talking about him as a perimeter player. We were expecting him to be the scorer on Mullin's first team. When he finally got to play he was the only guy that had any real game inside and that is what he was tasked with. So I figured he wasn't shooting because of the shoulder surgeries but maybe he still sees himself as a 3 or an NBA 2 and looking at a team stacked with quality shooters all the way through to Marvin Clark where again he would not be in the top 6 or 7 options on the perimeter...
