It don’t matter if you say 100 good things about CMA, if you voice just one concern, or disagree with just one thing that CMA does, you will get chastised, ridiculed, insulted, etc. Thankfully not by the majority, but by some. Including at least one condescending mod. That’s pretty much why I rarely post any more.
Appreciate that. Thought i was being picked on but perhaps i'm just someone's flavor of the week. I was also wondering about the mods yesterday when i was called "clueless", a "complete fool" and sarcastically "genius", but perhaps those protections are only afforded to long-time posters.
To be clear, I am picking on you but it's not because of your message (mostly). Look above, we agree with acceptable Class of '20 expectations. I am picking on you because of the way you say what you say,t and the frequency with which you say it.

I will add that you could argue with yourself if you took the guy who posted the class expectations and debated the guy that complains every time a recruit cuts st johns from the list. That would be fun.
Once again, when in doubt, just make stuff up and see if it sticks...

"The way you say what you say"...? That sounds an awful lot like when my wife has no substantive leg to stand on so throws a hail mary and says she didn't like "my tone".

What I don’t understand, and what I’ll never understand, is why posters don’t just ignore other posters who they find repetitive, overly negative, annoying, jerks, etc? Why the need to engage and denigrate?

Totally agree. There are a number of posters I ignore because I know I usually do not agree with what they have to say. Saves a lot of grief. I do the same for topics I am not interested in.

I get what your saying Monte, but look what good work we did with MZ! It gives us all hope.

First a bit of advice, if you try to apply logic to you wife you are doomed. Smile say yes dear fix the immediate problem and then melt into obliviousness. Happy Wife Happy Life :)

Second, very few people here care if you criticize the coach as long as it is poinent and respectful. Some people here are excite, most are mum as we do not know what he brings and how the players will react. Some will always be negative, its not pitino or calapari crowd who prefer to bitch and complain about everything because we have not won the final 4. While I would not necessarily put you in this group I think people may have trouble with your frequency of making the same point repetitively. Its like the kids asking are we there yet on a long car trip. The first 5 times are fine but on the 50th there may be some blood on the back window. We are all relatively intelligent here so no need to beat the dead horse.
As for this cycles recruiting Mike seems to be asking all the girls to the prom to see who says yes. If the 10 says yes its great but maybe you still have an 8 to fall back on. we cannot say he will be successful but we can see he and the staff are trying. Just remember if you ask 100 it only takes one to say yes. As for me, older maybe wiser, I will wait and see how it plays out This is not a wfan instant fan poll that you need to give an up down or grade right now, we can wait a bit to see things develop before we rush to judgement

Solid post. I agree with everything and good marriage advice LOL.

I am most definitely not an "always negative" guy. And to be honest I haven't even been critical of the staff (yet :p . As I stated earlier I thought they did a good job with the extremely limited time they had for 2019 and agree it's too early to judge for 2020. I've been critical of the notion from some folks here that they are somehow exempt from producing in 2020 (I realize that is a simplification of that position) as to me 2020 is fair game. It's possible (probable) that I've made that point enough now that everyone is clear LOL. I would say that even if you assume i've been super annoying (again, probable), i still think the nasty remarks are uncalled for - and would be nice to see the mods step in in those circumstances and not just to keep us "on topic". - Windy

Actually you are correct, it did take Norm longer to get Big East level talent. So I stand corrected. But he took over with no head coaching experience, during the worst period in the program’s history and with his hands tied as to the kind of kids he could recruit. So Norm gets a pass for on his first few classes. Again, I’m not passing judgement on CMA’s recruiting, but he gets no such recruiting pass.
Norm was one of the top recruiters in the country (at least by reputation) while working for Bill Self at Tulsa, Illinois & Kansas. His recruiting prowess, along with his NYC connections are the primary reasons he got the HC job here. Why does Norm get a break on the one strength he had coming here while the new HC doesn't get one and gets criticized for seemingly every recruit he does or doesn't get before he has ever coached a game here?

Yes, there were extenuating circumstances that had an impact on his ability to hit the ground running and he did deserve leeway for that, which he got from most rational fans.

But if we are being fair, then it seems excessive to me to criticize the new HC, who never really recruited the NYC area in his long career down south, and who has been on the job for all of 3 months, for not locking down recruits he's just meeting.

Seems to me that if Norm was getting a pass on the first 2 or 3 recruiting classes because of his resume and the program's failures, then its probably fair to give a new guy, hired after a very public meltdown of our program, with no ties/relationships to/in the area, at LEAST 6-12 months to make inroads in the local recruiting scene. Seems unfair to me to hold him to a different standard. After all, it takes time to build the relationships necessary with HS Coaches, AAU coaches and parents of the kids we recruit, let alone turn around the reputation and public perception of one of the worst run programs in a power conference.

To be fair, moose isn't a mod anymore. ;)

I like to think of myself as D'Angelo Harrison with a bit less basketball skill. A bit wild as a freshman but for the most part found the light and is occasionally misunderstood though it's all from enthusiasm lol. I was iffy on the Dunn situation but if CMA and staff really are even half of what we are hearing they are, maybe he can be groomed into a solid piece. I know every time I see Nova go out and get some transfer from some random mid major, I instantly see them as having potential because we see what Jay Wright does with them. I think we have a bad taste in our mouths based on the fact that most of our "diamonds in the rough" remained in the rough for the most part and never improved much. Maybe we finally have a coach who can show us much improved players year after year. Again, think Paschall early in his Nova career...just a paint guy with no 3 pt shot. By his senior year he was a legitimate 3 pt threat. That's the type of improvement I long to see with our guys.
