Detroit Game

Ah, the douchiness...and to think some of you lasted about 3 days without it...the streak is over. You better call Rivals up and tell them they don't know crap. Maybe you can get a job there since you clearly have the truth and they don't. I've never heard anyone use RSCI in the mainstream...it's Rivals and ESPN usually. Also, if your intent is to teach someone something, the whole approach of being a complete douchebag isn't that effective. Is it so hard to say "Yes, rivals rankings are included in the RSCI" instead of "OMG you are so dumb, pick your battles you fool. Detroit is like #10 in the nation!"?
I've seen rsci mentioned a thousand times before.

People are much better using that because of it being a compilation of all the services over 1 particular ranking. It seems pretty obvious because that would apply to pretty much all areas in life

And MJDinkins was pretty polite in how he told you about rsci and you pretty much didnt even bother to read what he said. Kind of like arguing with your ears and eyes closed

First lets get one thing clear, the fact that you're a douche and the fact that your a dope are mutually exclusive (look it up).

You could still post your inane comments without the attitude and complete lack of respect you've shown on this board from the first thread you posted in and we'd have a much more civil discourse going on. I'm not holding my breath.

Regarding one service vs. a consensus, I understand, you've never heard of RSCI so it must not have any importance or relevance. I'm assuming the same goes for Heather Thomas and Adrian Zmed. William Shatner on the other hand . . .

Now regarding a consensus average, well I think you refered to it once so I'll assume you understand the concept. There are plenty of talent evaluators and they can all see things differently. RSCI takes the top six or so each year and works out an average thereby eliminating deviations like when Rivals ranks someone 48 and everyone else has a player in the 20's. I'm sorry if you've never heard of it but it's commonly accepted as the best recruiting ranking on the web if only because it takes into account every major recruiting experts opinion, not just those you've heard of. Of course you've only heard of Rivals and ESPN, to know more than those would be to show a level of expertise on the subject that all your posts show you clearly do not possess.

However, because all they do is aggregate and average out the rankings RSCI really doesn't have much (read: any) staff so I don't think I could get a job there and besides, I'm positive they could not afford me.

Finally, I'll pick the battles I want to and they'll usually be the ones where I can make you look like an arrogant, obnoxious fool, but thanks for the attempt at advice.

Lol Austour, the token wannabe Socrates board member. There is one in every forum. Are you done moaning and stomping your feet yet? If not, I'll let you finish. Let me know when we can get back to SJ material.

Another obnoxious, and in this case ignorant, response. Faux shock!!!

I still think when Harrison is on, he is better than McCallum when he's on. Detroit can win, but they shouldn't if talent levels project to the actual game.

D'Angelo has shown that he is a jump shooter. McCallum has a more well-rounded game right now in my opinion.

Hopefully this summer has worked wonders for D'Angelo's complete game and decision making. We shall see come Tuesday.

Dinkins, it is indisputable fact that Harrison is #40 and McCallum is #43 on rivals. Go look.
Excuse me if I am missing something here. McCallum was Class of 2010 and Harrison was Class of 2011 so how can we compare rankings. McCaallum was 43 in 2010 and Harrison was 40 in 2011.

Here we come St. John's

Welcome Detroit.

I'd like to introduce you to this young man.

McCallum will get to know him well tomorrow afternoon.

That is all.

:)

Let's get something straight, McCallum is a PG and Harrison is a 2G right now. Also, it is not always about ratings and talent level, it is also about team chemistry and growth. Have you considered how many games the starting 5 for Detroit has played together as opposed to our starting 5. Is Detroit unsure of their final roster for this season. Due to the NCAA not having cleared Marco or Orlando, we still don't know who will be suiting up for us. There are many factors that determine the success of a college team and all of them have to be considered.

It will be fun to see them go head to head. They are two great guards. I only hope that Dlo is out of his funk, reconciled with his role and relationship with the coach and team, and ready to play tomorrow.

I don't put that much weight on who is starting for this team, as the team is too deep to get caught up in that, but clearly, Lavin is sending a message to Dlo by not starting him, again. It will be interesting to see how Dlo responds. I hope he responds by trying to play his way out of the doghouse that he appears to be in.

First he takes D'Lo out early in the 1st exhibition. Then he benches him the entire 2nd exhibition. Now, he's saying he won't start vs. Detroit (but will get starter minutes). Isn't this a bit overkill? I don't know if you really want to mess with a 19 year old's psyche this much. He got the point in the exhibitions he basically missed almost both entirely. I just wonder if Lavin isn't overreacting here. What could he possibly have done? Assuming it's something minor like cursing a coach out, showing up to practice late, partying a little too hard one night, etc. then come on give the kid a break. The only way I can see these 3 punishments understandable is if it's pretty serious like about to fail a class or getting into a fight or something. This is our #1 guy...let's show him a bit more respect, because if he has a brittle psyche all these punishments can ultimately lead him to transfer or be angry all year and rub it off on his team.

always the effn doom and gloomers on here..its so pathetic...lets just call it a season now...st johns will finish last in everything, will lose every game. coach will leave for california...

You're absolutely right. Everyone on here see's the glass half empty, it would be such a pleasant surprise to be surrounded by people with rose colored glasses for a change. (If I knew how to make an icon with the eyes rolling, this would be the perfect place)

Good point -- damn doom and gloomers. So what that we are picked for the bottom of the league. So what that it appears that one of our top players will be ineligible again (our fourth in two years). So what if there seem to be some disciplinary issues with our best player. So what if on a team with no shooters, one of our two best pure shooters has not been cleared to play. So what if we've struck out on a number of our top recruits lately. In Lavin we trust.

For the record, I am not criticizing anybody. Let's wait until we learn the facts. But I am sick of the drama and sick of the bad news. Honestly, I was dreading to go onto this site for the last two weeks, bc I was expecting to see something like this -- it is deja vu.

As fand, we all react differently. I admit that I tend to be more vocal in my criticism and frustration -- and let me tell you I'm frustrated. Without some additional pieces, the team that I saw in the two exhibition games will not win more than 12-15 games this year.

I read a post on Johnny Jungle that took the words right out of my mouth. We all know Lavin is the master PR man. He's been talking up Christian Jones for the last couple of weeks. I wonder if that's b/c he had an inkling that Sanchez would not see the light of day.
