DePaul

@NYPost_Brazille: Lavin said he would of liked to see a shot closer to the rim on the Hooper shot. #sjubb

I was upset with the result, but enjoyed watching the game. We actually showed grit to come back from down 7, and Lavin was wise to bench Pointer, Sampson and Obekpa, and use Gift who played very well. It was like seeing SJU in the mirror. Two teams with some talented players but prone to bonehead plays and lack of execution. We are Depaul. Wonder if they are thinking NCAA also, if they only beat this team and sweep that school. I gather not.

We're George!!!

Tough road loss. I'm very disappointed. Sweeps are hard in this league, but Depaul and SH were our best shots. I thought we had to go 3-1 out of the four after Nova. This team just can't close games. We've been tied or winning with five minutes or less remaining in five of our losses and we trailed Wisconsin by four late.

It's looking more an more like this team will have to win a few in the Big East Tournament. I'm still not ready to jump ship with 7 home games remaining, but my expectations shrink with every game this team doesn't turn the corner. I'll say it again, Depaul has two awesome freshmen.

We absolutely have to get more points and draw more fouls by attacking the tin. Branch needs 20 minutes at this point and the kid needs to be ultra aggressive. Branch taking it to the basket is one of the best chances we have. Jordan can't do it all on his own in that regard.

I was so confident even after the nova game, I thought yea we'd beat Depaul, get that coveted victory, and start rolling.

Now... It's just looking extremely bleak, if we lose to providence, I could see the team just giving up

A few wins in the Big East? Try FOUR, cause that would mean we won it.

Branch had a great 3 or 4 minutes in the first half. Then, again, look at the opponent. Things happen for a reason.

I wanted to believe, like many here, that the early season difficulties with total cupcakes (who were not even full strength cupcakes) was just a lack of motivation. I suspected it wasn't, but was hoping so as all fans do. There is no reason we should be shocked by any of this. The warning signs have been there from day one. One major problem I see is that these guys love each other, but don't trust each other on the court. They abandon team play in crunch time, and seem unaware of the situation. Harrison and Jordan ignored teammates down the stretch, and played out of desperation instead of under control as the situation required.

We have to hope taking all these losses lights a spark under this team, and they come out angry and win some games.

If I were Lavin, I'd turn em lose, full court press all game, go up and down the floor, try and run teams out of the gym. See how that goes. Try something new...

@KieranDarcy: St. John's season hits a new low with loss to DePaul, including a highly questionable end-of-game lineup:http://t.co/AeBfuvL3UF

Can't agree with him that Gift gave us nothing. I'm not a fan of his game, but I thought he turned it around on defense for us.

I guess we should have gone offense/defense with him and Sampson, but if he had completely abandoned Gift, I probably would have been on him for that, too. At least, I would have been tonight, anyway.

Some people here want to throw in the towel. I am a St. John's fan. Have been for an awful long time. I don't throw in towels or stop watching. I watch every game I can, and hope to for many years to come. That is what fans do. So goodbye SJUISBACK and whoever else quits on the program. We don't need your kind around here.

I don't think it's to that point YET. Whoever put the conference schedule together didn't do St. John's any favors. Three out of the first four on the road (two to tournament teams) and the only home game against the preseason conference favorite ranked in the top 10. Then they send us 2000 miles away three days later for a road game. WTF?

9-7, 0-4 is disgusting, but we entered the game tied for the 4th toughest SOS in the country according to ESPN and that will likely rise to #2 by tomorrow. 7 losses, but only one to a team with an RPI above 100 and that was to #101 Penn State.

I still think they will turn it on in 3-4 weeks, but the question is can they pull out enough Ws before then to still be in it? Our best player is a freshman.
