DePaul

I'll be booing Lavin during intros on Thursday. Will anyone be joining me?

IS it safe to say the student section won't be waving their lavinwood sign?

There probably won't be any students there, I think they're still on break. The current seniors also never went through the Norm years so it wouldn't surprise me if the students folded the tent. I'm still debating whether I should leave work early and drive 2 hours to Queens just to watch this disaster. I'm a glutton for punishment so I probably will.

Tough road loss. I'm very disappointed. Sweeps are hard in this league, but Depaul and SH were our best shots. I thought we had to go 3-1 out of the four after Nova. This team just can't close games. We've been tied or winning with five minutes or less remaining in five of our losses and we trailed Wisconsin by four late.

It's looking more an more like this team will have to win a few in the Big East Tournament. I'm still not ready to jump ship with 7 home games remaining, but my expectations shrink with every game this team doesn't turn the corner. I'll say it again, Depaul has two awesome freshmen.

We absolutely have to get more points and draw more fouls by attacking the tin. Branch needs 20 minutes at this point and the kid needs to be ultra aggressive. Branch taking it to the basket is one of the best chances we have. Jordan can't do it all on his own in that regard.

A few wins in the Big East? Try FOUR, cause that would mean we won it.

I don't think it's to that point YET. Whoever put the conference schedule together didn't do St. John's any favors. Three out of the first four on the road (two to tournament teams) and the only home game against the preseason conference favorite ranked in the top 10. Then they send us 2000 miles away three days later for a road game. WTF?

9-7, 0-4 is disgusting, but we entered the game tied for the 4th toughest SOS in the country according to ESPN and that will likely rise to #2 by tomorrow. 7 losses, but only one to a team with an RPI above 100 and that was to #101 Penn State.

You are way too optimistic.

I threw in the towel as to us being an NCAA tournament I never said I would stop watching . I've watched every game since my first day on campus in 04 even watched sju as a kid . I have been a die hard knick fan even in these dark years I never miss a knick game (ESP with Knicks rewind) and I never miss an sju fan . I am the biggest sju fan in manhattan but as far as us making the dance yes I have thrown in the towel . I won't stop watching tho

@KieranDarcy: St. John's season hits a new low with loss to DePaul, including a highly questionable end-of-game lineup:http://t.co/AeBfuvL3UF

Can't agree with him that Gift gave us nothing. I'm not a fan of his game, but I thought he turned it around on defense for us.

I guess we should have gone offense/defense with him and Sampson, but if he had completely abandoned Gift, I probably would have been on him for that, too. At least, I would have been tonight, anyway.

I think he meant Gift gave nothing offensively down stretch. I agree w you, Gift helped a lot tonight.

At Least the Big East will the Chicago market to feed off of if DePaul continues to improve because they sure as hell won't have the NY market. Also, the only reason why Lavin has been able to pull Spring recruits out of his ass the past two seasons is because he was able to BS them about the future success of the program. Recruits now know that that's BS. Delarosa is going to Georgetown where they actually develop players, especially big men.

Posters on here are always wrong about where recruits end up, so hank you for saying that.

So you still think Brisloe and the big fella comes here? In all serious, not being sarcastic but why would they come?
Recruiting aside, is Lavin a better coach then Roberts.

I know I`ll get heat from this post, but it`s a legit question.
Why would they still come.
Can I get a legit answer or will the responses be: "oh your stupid for comparing Lavin to Roberts."
I don`t see any difference.

That's good news! How about us older guys? We remember St. John's when they were good.

Some people here want to throw in the towel. I am a St. John's fan. Have been for an awful long time. I don't throw in towels or stop watching. I watch every game I can, and hope to for many years to come. That is what fans do. So goodbye SJUISBACK and whoever else quits on the program. We don't need your kind around here.

I appreciate your loyalty and optimism. However........please, at very least, realize the coach is HUGE problem.

Moe Hatten will be at the game Thursday. Something to look forward to lol

Rysheed Jordan is Hatten 2.0. A great talent, excellent physical strength who is a strong driver and a creative finisher. more scorer than shooter. Defends well. Don't see him as a classic point. I like Mark Jackson type points. Garrett of Depaul is more in that mold. Still, a great player. Hatten, that is. Jordan will be soon enough. Looked good on a few jumpers tonight. Most talent on the roster.

Obviously a better recruiter - but I would says worse coach. Roberts didn't have Keady on the bench.

Someone posted that we are a mirror image of DePaul. That's exactly how I see it. No positives, but Lavin will be here until the end of the year so I will route for them but find it hard to believe they turn it around. I don't see how we get better - I don't understand what we are trying to do on either end of the court. Both teams tonight played the same horrible defense. No team concept.

We have to hope taking all these losses lights a spark under this team, and they come out angry and win some games.

If I were Lavin, I'd turn em lose, full court press all game, go up and down the floor, try and run teams out of the gym. See how that goes. Try something new...

Ive been saying they should press for 40 minutes for the last two months. It is the only way this team can play and win consistently

Refer to the Fordham game. It worked there.

Optimism? I have no optimism for this team. I saw and mentioned the warning signs early on. Not shocked by any of this, although I didn't think it would be this bad. I just love watching all SJU teams play.

We even rattled nova when we pressed for a short period of time. Again, not sure if pressing is the answer, cause could lead to more foul trouble then we already get ourselves into, but something new has to be implicated, if we keep rolling with the same game plan, or lack thereof, it's not going to just magically get any better for us.

Understood.
