DePaul

Tough road loss. I'm very disappointed. Sweeps are hard in this league, but Depaul and SH were our best shots. I thought we had to go 3-1 out of the four after Nova. This team just can't close games. We've been tied or winning with five minutes or less remaining in five of our losses and we trailed Wisconsin by four late.

It's looking more an more like this team will have to win a few in the Big East Tournament. I'm still not ready to jump ship with 7 home games remaining, but my expectations shrink with every game this team doesn't turn the corner. I'll say it again, Depaul has two awesome freshmen.

We absolutely have to get more points and draw more fouls by attacking the tin. Branch needs 20 minutes at this point and the kid needs to be ultra aggressive. Branch taking it to the basket is one of the best chances we have. Jordan can't do it all on his own in that regard.

A few wins in the Big East? Try FOUR, cause that would mean we won it.

I don't think it's to that point YET. Whoever put the conference schedule together didn't do St. John's any favors. Three out of the first four on the road (two to tournament teams) and the only home game against the preseason conference favorite ranked in the top 10. Then they send us 2000 miles away three days later for a road game. WTF?

9-7, 0-4 is disgusting, but we entered the game tied for the 4th toughest SOS in the country according to ESPN and that will likely rise to #2 by tomorrow. 7 losses, but only one to a team with an RPI above 100 and that was to #101 Penn State.

Did you recently marry Lavin's sister? Lol

Some people here want to throw in the towel. I am a St. John's fan. Have been for an awful long time. I don't throw in towels or stop watching. I watch every game I can, and hope to for many years to come. That is what fans do. So goodbye SJUISBACK and whoever else quits on the program. We don't need your kind around here.

I appreciate your loyalty and optimism. However........please, at very least, realize the coach is HUGE problem.

Optimism? I have no optimism for this team. I saw and mentioned the warning signs early on. Not shocked by any of this, although I didn't think it would be this bad. I just love watching all SJU teams play.

Understood.

What did Harrison shoot tonight?

I'll be booing Lavin during intros on Thursday. Will anyone be joining me?

Only a stupid ass would boo his own team so may I call you Sir Ass?
Dom's technical and a blind ass ref cost us this game. Four points!
I have said all along this is an NIT team hoping for an NCAA bid.
I also said the only chance is to win the Big East Tourney.
March is a long way off.
I think a few of these guys will come down to earth, hopefully Sampson, and start working harder since none will impress any NBA scouts this year. When a player like Jakarr is missing dunks and lay ups it is a mental thing. Time for all thes guys to play to their position and the coaches should sit any freelancers even if it means losses at this point.

I wish I was there in the 80's at least you got to watch them go to a final 4 . At the rate were going I'm gonna have to wait another 10 years for that to happen . I see what you mean but trust me I love St. John's basketball to death

I would never boo a college athlete that represents my alma mater. I have no problem booing an overpaid windbag though.

Very true 72. I read all your posts as well you are always on point with the things you say . Early in the season there were some topics that I disagreed with you on but now you were right all along .

9 for 17. What time is high tide tomorrow?

I think we have to put most of the accountability on the players not Lavin. It maybe teacher says student can not do. Coach can not shoot the basketball, can not pull down rebounds, can not set the picks, can not be aggressive underneath, can not know when .shot is bad to take etc. We .have. played way too any games for talent not to have showed up and produced Chris mullin would have shined no matter who coached him I for one can not put this all on Lavin and his staff I .do not like it but want to see
how the rest of the season goes and see what if any recruits coach brings in for 2014.or mainly 2015

Well, like the fella says..... when the going gets tough, the tough realizes there's more to life than watching lousy basketball.

Netflix here I come!

Knocking our best player in the midst of all this lousy basketball is pure nuts. If he had done the smart thing and transferred almost all our losses would have been blowouts this year. Lavin has to go for openers then it will be back to the drawing board. Until that happens we will suck perpetually.

A while back I said ,perhaps we can not win a game in confr and was wondering where and who we can beat?? . .Still wondering .Anyone have any opinions

STJ won't win many if they can't grab a defensive rebound, and all they do is foul. On paper the next 4 are winnable, lets see what they are made of.

We can beat anyone. Do you not see that? How many teams in major conferences go a whole season without a conference win. Am I saying we will wake up from this slumber and light the world on fire? Hell no. But to think we will go winless is nuts. We got dismantled in 1 BE game. The rest we had leads in at various stages. And faltered. But to say we can't beat anyone is ridiculous even for the biggest Lavin hater of them all.

Actually not doing badly in Otis pool, by picking against Johnnies, but that changes Thursday. We will beat Providence.

Did not say we could not win what was merely asking you or anyone who. we could say with confidence we can beat.. Obviously, our product is sub par at this stage Frankly, coach who I support is running out of excuses thus saying we have to be realistic and start looking at the players not the staff.

Most fans would agree that SJU play the last five minutes of close games like the players don't trust one another. The reason they don't trust one another is no player has performed well enough at crunch time in the past three seasons to deserve that trust.
At some point someone has to make a clutch shot to get this team over the hump at a critical time and maybe some of that last minute pressure might subside. Once Dwight Hardy made a game winning shot both his and the teams confidence rose and he became a tremendous late game shooter. There is no one on this roster with his shooting skill but is there anybody who can make a late minute play. The coaches can't do it.

Well The "bottom " of the Big East is significantly better. This DePaul team can go toe to toe with anyone except for maybe Creighton. As for us the problem is we play up or down to our competition. This team is not that bad. Ive watched some years when we would go into games against Colombia, Fordham or Manhattan with out feeling like we had a chance to win. Or on Carnessecca night when we lose to St Francis!!!!! This team has gone into everygame with a shot to win. I am not going to make any predictions as all of my previous ones have gone awry. We are a few plays from being a top 25 team. I am going to keep rooting and keep believing we got a shot. If we dont secure an At large Bid, BE tournament is going to be "do or die".

If not significantly better, the bottom of the league is picking it up significantly and there are not very many easy games for anyone.
