DePaul, Sat. Jan. 6, 2p, YES (FOX) /Radio 570AM or 970AM

72, you knew this was coming. Guys like FUN couldn't wait to heave Lavin out of here. Meanwhile this is sad to watch bottom feeder DePaul out play better St. John's Hard to find some wins in the Big East the way it looks now. From the bottom looking up

Overall this was just a bad day. Kids probably thought with the way they have been playing they could just walk out and win because they are playing DePaul. The coaches need to realize this is College not NBA. There needs to be more structure. The shot selection is absolutely terrible.

Finally, seeing players who can't play laughing on the bench towards the end of the game is a bad look. Also, seeing one of our players who is out with injury dancing on the court is not a good look either.

There needs to be more accountability with this staff and I am hoping Anton is our man to do this. We need to get more college experience on that bench. I agree with the previous poster Hurley should have been our man. And unfortunately it looks like he may head to UCONN next year..

Several on here are full of hypocrisy and contradictions. They've also made it personal with Lavin, (Rysheed) Jordan and (Chris) Obekpa. Pussy ass pansies who probably has insecurities about their own lives.

The book has yet to be written on Mullin's coaching tenure at St. John's, but the first few chapters aren't good reads. That's for sure!

Some "fans" may be getting their hoops karma.

Yep Dink Karma can be such a bitch. Nothing against Mullin but I didn't like the way St.John's handled the hiring. Some behind the back stuff that never bodes well.

The book has been written on Mullen. Hall of famer Paid to bring back alma mater back. Now his alma mater is stuck with him & he will leave on his own terms when he is ready. The blame falls squarely on him as he is head of basketball. For those of you optimistic for next year, your delusional. If these guys can’t produce now as juniors then how will they as seniors?

President Bobby who has no experience at all had a dream that if they hired Chris Mullin the school would sell out every basketball game and make the school a ton of money.
He did not realize a coach cannot recruit without a contract. He should have either fired Lavin earlier or provided him with a contract extension. The reason we are in this position right now is because of Bobby Gemepsaw and Oliva the interim AD.
Mullin and the staff are in over their head. They should have went with a Hurley and they made a poor decision. The staff needs to be shook up and if Mullin does not like it he should leave.

The only Juniors eligibility wise are Yakwe and Clark and OwensI think

The excuse is this 5 starters, no bench. It's the truth though, hard to win when it's 5 on 8 or 9.

Next year we'll have depth, so there will be no excuse in year 4.

Lack of bench is on this staff. They went after Zach Brown who had issues, they did not block UCONN from Sid Wilson. They left a scholarship open when a body was needed.

Good luck cheering next yr. who coming in is going to make a big difference? Nobody. Same results next year & then what will be the excuse. You are setting yourself up for dissappointment thinking things will be better.

Zach Brown likely cost us with Hasahn French.

I would've given Wilson his release since he wanted out, but once it was known that he was heading to UConn, then I would've placed a restriction on it.

So, he would've had to pick another school or remain at St. John's.

I was there at the arena and watched every brutal second of the game.

Given our 0 and 3 start, playing at home against an opponent that was below five hundred and realizing that we needed to hold serve when we are nine and half point favorites this had to be considered a must win game. Considering all of this and not just losing but losing badly (by seventeen) makes this probably the worst loss of the Mullin era.

I am by nature an optimist and hope the season will get turned around but multiple flaws in the team were definitely showing today. I still believe we can play at a level that was closer to the team that was competitive on the road against Seton Hall and Creighton than the one that got blown out at home against Providence and DePaul. That said we will not get there without stellar defense, monumental effort on the boards and smarter and more team oriented offense.

I am not sure how to pinpoint all of the problems going forward but as for today the biggest player on the court, 6' 11" 240 lb. Croatian fifth year Niagra transfer senior Marin Maric, dominated the game. Our lack of a true center was clearly a very big problem. We had no answer for Maric. He scored 25 points on 7 for 8 from the field, 9 for 10 from the line, 11 rebounds and a blocked shot. We needed to find a way to neutralize him and did not.

Additionally DePaul's leading scorer, 6' 6" division two Junior transfer Max Strus, went off for 22 points and 10 rebounds. Lack of boxing out and physicality allowed DePaul multiple second shots at the rim and this should not have happened. That said Maric, Strus and senior forward Tre'Darius McCallum (16 points 9 rebounds) took advantage of our flaws on the interior and just killed us.

I know teams are not machines and are subject to ups and downs but you would think we would come up bigger in our conference games at home. It is somewhat ironic that playing on campus in Big East play, where our edge is supposed to be the biggest, has produced two dismal performances. I hope we can raise our level of play and turn around the season, but somewhere along the way we will have to win some games that we are expected to lose to make up for the bad Providence and DePaul losses at home.

who coming in is going to make a big difference? They all might be better then who we have on the bench now.

You are setting yourself up for dissappointment thinking things will be better. Nope, as I said yesterday, I expect the worst and hope for the best when it comes to ST. John's/

Such lack of faith in our fan base. Don't worry they will come up with tons of excuses. They always do.

Not from me, I tell it how it is, no bs blind eye, sugar coating things. Next year will tell alot about Chris Mullins coaching ability, and trust me, I won't be back tracking on that next year.
I pray the legend is the coach who turns us around, because if he can't, then probably no one will. That's how I feel.

Won't tell us anymore than we already know. As for if he can't no one will maybe we can go the route of hiring an actual competent basketball coach with a good track record. We spend enough to do so as men's hoops is our marquee sport and right now man is that marquee tattered.

Team meeting not going as planned;

This season has started deplorably and is looking very bad right now. But there are games to be played and hopefully things improve.

But it is ludicrous to suggest that there is no one coming next year will make a difference. The much deeper frontcourt alonevwill ge a huge difference. And the addition by subtraction of AliB. Will be huge too.

The hate and hyperbole are over the top. It’s frustrating and disappointing but it’s sport and supposed to be fun. A little perspective is in order.

Welcome back

Other than that you find me so fascinating that you can't go two posts without mentioning my name or plagiarizing my writing I find you to be a gaseous, tedious bore.

So does my wife so get in line.;) As far as plagiarizing goes get over yourself! Mimicking and mocking you during your period of redmen dot com boycott was a memorable time. That I was annoying to you while you made condescending remarks about our coach's cancer, his wife, mother and the death of his father is a tribute to me. My many fans here agree with me and I thank both of them. I hope you don't turn into that same petulant overgrown child again and stop posting your literary masterpieces when we hit another losing streak. That would be as disappointing as hearing the F bombs by our technically challenged coach while standing near Father Rock as I am one your biggest fans you Weasel.;)
