DePaul, Sat. Jan. 6, 2p, YES (FOX) /Radio 570AM or 970AM

OSU also starts 2 other 4 star seniors and a 3 star junior. So they have 4 upper classmen starting, 3 of whom are 4 star kids and 1 three star. Mullin essentially inherited the basketball version of the team from the movie Necessary Roughness (minus Kathy Ireland, unfortunately). How are these situations remotely comparable?

Owens going outside for shots as opposed to slashing or alley oop offense probably makes it easier for opposing defenses to out rebound us and harder for Ahmed and Clark to get good offensive rebounding position.

Owens took two three point shots against DePaul, one of which he made. As another poster pointed out, he's made more than 40 percent of his three point shots in the last three games. With the exception of the DePaul game, he's also been rebounding at an effective clip. There are plenty of things to complain about with this team, but Owens' recent success from three is not one of them.

I believe that Holtmann brought two top 100 recruits that were originally going to Butler, with him to OSU.

So yes, Matta's recruiting was poor, and Holtmann has a decent team in year one at OSU. Both are true.

Yeah, not quite. Holtmann is a good coach and he has a better than decent team. However the OSU roster comprises:

Keita Bates Diop 32 minutes 5 star MATTA
Jasean Tate 30 minutes 5 star MATTA
CJ Jackson 29 minutes Juco MATTA
Kaleb Wesson 22 minutes 4 star HOLTMAN
Kam Williams 22 minutes 4 star MATTA
Musa Jallow 19 minutes 4 star (signed after Matta left and before Holtman was hired)
Andrew Dakich 16 minutes Michigan transfer MATTA
Andre Wesson 13 minutes 3 star MATTA
Micah Potter 11 minutes 4 star MATTA
Kyle Young 10 minutes 4 star HOLTMAN

Holtmann inherited a roster comprising three seniors and five juniors, two of whom were five star recruits and of whom were two four star recruits. His recruits average 13 points and 9 rebounds a game and that's if you throw in Jallow.

I know we're spoiled here at St John's, but that hardly comprises "poor" recruiting and it certainly doesn't comprise a bare cupboard.

Did you not impregnate your neighbors' dog?

Good grief. The moderation on this site has gone to aich ee double hockey sticks since good old TIS retired. If I'd written something like this they'd had a secret vote to ban me forever so fast it'd make your head spin. Although now that I have OhioFan in my pocket - and just in case I remind him of our wager - I feel pretty good about my chances.

Anyhoo. You and I know the truth: that you used to routinely visit the old BEB, copy my writing, and with minor variations post it here under your own name. You did it because you're a sad little desperate for attention fellow and you thought you could get away with it because I didn't post here anymore and you figured I wouldn't see it. Except I did and when called out about it you stopped and then made up a series of preposterous excuses for why you did it, portraying yourself as brave and virtuous. Which you aren't: you're a thief. I know that's what happened and you know that's what happened and all the exclamation points and emoticons can't change the truth of it.

And now I must say goodbye. Congratulations. You are

"because I didn't post here anymore and you figured I wouldn't see it. "

LMFAO!!! I figured you took a secret oath not to visit this site ever again yet yet every time I mimicked you, you included what I wrote in your Screw Magazine style summaries to the point of obsession. :D Now dear Dr. Fun the only one who should be embarrassed about Plagarizing is YOU as Frank Zappa is rolling in his grave with the amount of artistic thievery you committed with your Weasel friends in "mimicking" the Mothers of Invention. ;) You are as original and talented as Milli Vanilli and that is insulting to Milli Vanilli. ;) As always I invite you to take your debate with me off line and into private messages but you seem to need to be a masterdepater in public. Now, this forum is not about your ego or your art of expression but about basketball. Should you want to disagree with my opinions about the staff, the games, the cheerleaders, Chris Mullin's wardrobe please respond but if you wish to keep calling me names I prefer that you do it on a more personal level with pm's. I even promise not to complain to OhioFan or OTIS who have been known to start a secret vote or two. I do agree, as our great minds think alike, that I miss TIS, Moose and a couple of other mods who actually commented on our games and had opinions as knowledgeable fans. Finally, to save the aforementioned mods time let me just say "Knock it off with the personal attacks"; "this is your final warning" and "take it offline".:p
That said, I love your commentaries and in reality nothing you say really bothers me because you are a St. John's fan and any St. John's fan is really OK in my book....... plagarized and all. ;) p.s. pardon me for the emoticons.:(

Better defense ????????
They are giving up 90 points to a terrible team...DePaul, and you say this is better defense.
They cant defend against any teams 3 point shots, players left open all thevtime.
Better defense ???? Open your eyes

Better defense ?????? They just gave up over 90 points to a terrible team, and they havd been doing that all year.
They never defend the 3 point play, teams are killing us from 3 point land...mam open your eyes.....

Did you really have to say the same thing twice?;)
It is called incremental improvement. Of course the previous two seasons St. John's played next to zero defense so even the marginal improvement in the pressuring aspect looks good but you are correct in that after we have finished pressuring the ball we quickly begin to improvise and lose cohesion.
