No positive spin on this one, I got nothing. Hard not to feel like the season is slipping away after a loss like this. It doesn't get easier either, Depaul at home was supposed to be a guaranteed win. Got to regroup and get ready for the next one. I still think Mullin should be guaranteed next year but the heat will be on after that. What if we have a worse conference record this year? That would be crazy because we are definitely a better team than last year. NIT looking like a long shot at the moment.
How do we play so poorly in the second half, yet end the game with 2 timeouts left?
I think we need to seriously examine the competence of the head coach and his ingame adjustments.
This team still does not know how to boxout, takes poor shots, can't defend the 3, and gets killed on the boards. I'm almost ready to start chant, "Wait 'till next year."

My wife wants to go to a game. This is why I don't want to. This team is basketball at its worst. We can't pass to get anyone an open shot, we have no spot up shooters, with the exception of Clark, we cannot defend once again. How many dunks are we going to blow instead of just laying the ball in? Every drive Ponds makes results in some ridiculous circus shot. The coaching is horrible. Owens has gotten away with what he does best. We are the laughing stock of the conference, for sure. We never can find the other team's best shooters. Don't know how to attack a zone. How many air balls from 3 by Ahmed? Everything in the offense is selfish, 1 on 1 basketball. Can't box out and rebound. No hustle effort. If Mullin decided to pack it in after this season, I would be ok with that. Another 90 point plus defensive effort, or lack thereof, today. The problem is not Lovett being out. This is can effing disgrace.
Well they shot better than us, outrebounded us by 16 and had 2 less turnovers. Game over. Their dominance in the paint and our complete and utter failure to box out a team that wasn't really much bigger than us is inexplicable at this point. We made a monster out of Maric but basically most of his work was from two feet in after a rebound. BTW he was one of the Graduate transfer bigs on the lists we all looked at that we completely passed on. Karma's a b*tch!
On another note I continue to be nonplussed by Coach Mullin's apparent Bromance with Alibegovic. His extended minutes in the second half while we were trying to break through were inexplicable once again. He just cannot play defense at this level. I was particularly impressed by his falling down and losing the cutter when they scored on an inbounds play with 2 seconds on the clock. So much for 28 seconds of good D. And when he finally inserted Yawke he turned out to be one of the only guys on the team who was focused and putting up a fight.
We play really well against the best teams and lose by a little and really badly against the more vulnerable teams and lose by a lot. I have no idea what's going on with this team.

Ponds was 7-24 and1-9 from 3 . Clearly , his shot has been missing all season long . Shooting 7-24 loses games for you and while Ponds had lots of company , no one played well . The fact is this team has no Grit to battle underneath . And , defensively we had no answer for DePaul’s big men, Strus and Macic. They must have had 45 -50 between them . Clark and Simon are nice players but, not game changers . Lack of rebounding and not getting many stops on the D end was disappointing . Our shooting was worse than awful .

3 yrs is a key barometer to see how mullin will be as a coach. I don’t think he should be guaranteed next yr. if talent is the problem then that is on him as head coach. Arizona st is doing great in 3rd yr by getting talent. If coaching is the problem then that is on AD for hiring Mullin. This loss is nail in coffin for me & we will never be back. Not looking forward to nova game & prob isn’t worth trip to nyc.

Mullin is going to see the docs to find out more??? Is it possible that after missing nine games, Mulkin doesn’t have a clue regarding the medical status of his second leading scorer?
My mind is so burnt from this loss but I think the AD came in after Mullin.
As bad as this year is going to be now Mullin has I think a 6 year deal plus I think we are still paying Slice.
If you cant win next year with the full roster and assuming Ponds comes back then I dont think you are ever going to win

Exactly why I'm biting my lips this year and trying not to get on Mullin, not year there are no freaking excuses.
Next year is put up or shut up. I don't care if you're Pat Really, name recognition only goes so far. You took the job as head coach, so his responsibility is to make the team better over a period of time. No excuses just get it done next year.
I had a choice to watch the game or do the something else, I'm glad I did the latter. Clarks quote was funny, and he's calling for a team meeting tomorrow? Well wtf did he do? Why not lead by example?
No NCAA, No NIT, No Nothing this year, a wasted season after a promising start in the ooc portion.
Well it's the same damn old routine: "Maybe next year."
