First guy that popped into my head when I saw the tape was Terry Dehere but Woods is bigger and has better hops.
Welcome aboard Darrick!
First person in my head was Jeremy Lamb but this kid has a better handle and more hops. Welcome aboard Darrick!

Not really sure I agree with you as there are not a whole lot of players ahead of him at the SG Position.
When Darrick sets foot on campus Nuri will be a junior and DeAngelo a sophomore. If you have seen DeAngelo play, work out and his commitment to getting better you will agree with me that we will be lucky to get three seasons out of this kid. If heaven forbid there is an injury to either player Darrick gets serious minutes right away. Kid is going into a very good situation.

I think DeAngelo will be the star of this recruiting class. But how many 6'2" shooting guards are drafted let alone leave early? He's a four-year player.

I think either Garrett or Pointer will play shooting guard for us, and I think Anderson commits and Lindsey leaves, so I have Wood as the fifth guard behind Anderson, Harrison, Greene, and Pointer/Garrett. I always assume there won't be injuries, so playing time could be scarce for him, at least initially. Then again, I don't think Lavin would have any issues with running a five guard lineup if he felt it would work.
I agree about DeAngelo but barring injury he will not be on campus for four years.
Kid is great now and has a fantastic work ethic.
D'Angelo will be a threat right away for a few reasons. First off is that he's a fantastic shooter and scorer. He's got a great stroke not only from real deep, but great in the midrange too. He's an aggressive playmaker in the Scottie Reynolds mold, with the swagger to match. No doubt in my mind he's our starting SG and an important reason we can be good even this season. He's a leader and will IMO be the guy that will carry the team on his back. If he's here for 4 years, we wil be phenomenal.

Agree completely.
If Nuri and DeAngelo can each score in double figures this season, which I believe will happen, the rest of the freshmen will find their way and we will be good.
“St. John’s seemed perfect for me,” Wood told CBSSports.com. “Tough basketball is what I’m all about and I think they will make history in the Big East. It’s something I wanted to be a part of.”
"247Sports and PrepStars.com are proud to unveil the updated top 100 prospects in the class of 2012. "
"Two players who just missed the top 100 were Michigan State commit Kenny Kaminski and St. John's commitment Darrick Wood. "

I know there is beef about posting one's own site before, and I understand that. But on Rumble in the Garden, I took a look at Wood's Nike EYBL stats - he can put up shots. He can hit shots, at least inside the arc. He doesn't draw fouls, and in that role, he's not a passer or rebounder. Videos show he has potential, though.I couldn't find out much about him. Anyone know his stats.

I'm still curious where Darrick will be attending hs this year. Don't think NIA prep is going to cut it.

No problem with it at all, Peter. Next time, please provide the link though B)
