Wood a bit under the radar like Phil Greene. No longer I guesss. Looks like another good pickup by Lavin and co.

Could someone indulge a UCLA fan and let me know how Tony Parker looked? He cancelled his G'Town visit to play with the Playaz, and my Bruins are banging heads with Krzyzewski for him (when he flew home from his official at UCLA, Coach K was literally waiting on his front porch when the taxi arrived!)....

Confirmed that Darrick is on board and excited about coming to SJU. No LOI signed this fall due to a logistical issue.

What, is he on a space mission to Mars? Actually am not worried as he seems fully committed. Thought it was an academic issue making it better that he not sign until spring or that he is not yet eligible to sign for academic reasons.

Something along those lines that you describe. Just clarifying that he's fully commited to being at SJU as some were worried.

There was no logistical issue and our 3 ineligible recruits signed LOI's while it was clear they needed summer prep classes.

I will say again, if Amir is not cleared ALL our six scholarships will be for 2012. That's a lot of recruiting to do for the staff by the Spring signing period. Reclaiming Gathers has become a must now with both Pelle and Sampson looking for greener pastures.

One thing is certain---- following the recruiting trail will be very interesting. Once the staff regroups with Lav healthy, I think we may be in for a couple of surprises.

Trust me, there was a logistical issue here with Wood. Garrett has his grades and will be here pending NCAA approval, which should be no problem this time around from Bridgton.

First, I do not trust the NCAA to do anything in a timely manner.
Second, from what I heard, Amir should have been cleared the first time around.

Anyone can sign an LOI no matter how much of a trainwreck your grades are. But Marcus is right. There is a logistical issue that needs to be hurdled. It will.

I wouldn't say that its that unrealistic for us to land Sampson again. I think we have a good shot with him

I hope you are correct but I think Jakarr has already moved on. Baylor is high on him and I am sure those Texan coeds made an impression on him since they are a major recruiting tool down there :) I would much rather have Gathers at the PF.

Wood and Garrett want to play here, I am sure that Lavin will find other recruits that want to play in NY. I'm pretty sure that Lavin knew that this is going to take some time. It is pretty hard to put an entire team together in one year and compete in the best conference,

thanks for the update

...a few reflections after a long day in high energy Manhattan bus back to the quietude of Sag Harbor where I still glance out on the bay to see if the whaling boats have returned... :)

I have not been reading the posts regularly - but I for one am not disappointed but realistic as I bet others are as well. We are good, young and will take our lumps. The future is bright and most likely (and of course hopefully) the coach will regain his stamina.
Any kid you wants to either leave of not consider the Red Storm - just as well. We can't force anyone especially young people to do something not in their own heart.
As time goes, on I realize (what group had those lyrics? 1960-70s?) we will get our share of wins and of recruits.

A final note, even the blowput loss at UKy, if we were hitting our jump shots a little better the game would of course been closer. Our two best scorers almost blanked? And if we had that additional size (obvious) we would get a better read on how good the rest of the team is. IMagine a Bill Wennington type in the middle of God and Moe etc.

all the best

PS I'm actually more disappointed that soccer lost in the first round.
