Creighton

Time to close this thread. Waaaay too much written about Creigton (why do we even care about them?) and now we have some jackwagon posting under the name of our coach's recently deceased father. Lord help us all.

Time to close it? It's just starting to be relevant with them going 3-4 in their past 7. It's a valid thread. If this stupid troll doesn't leave though I say close it.

3-4 in their last 7 games

This team is a pretender

Now in a 3 way tie for the MVC #1 spot. And WSU already owns the tiebreaker. If you still don't think Creighton is vastly overrated, you will never admit it.

I hope we get in to the tournament and play them in the first round
-------

Can you imagine what it will like here if they were to be matched up and Creighton was to beat St. John's.

And even more frightening to imagine - Creighton gets an invite to the C7.

I'm kind of torn, because losing would suck . . . but at least Joe3 would stop beating this dead horse for a while. :cheer:

I'm torn as well. On one hand I want to see Creighton fail because they are so overrated and their fans buy into the false notion that they belong in the same breath as Louisville without even beating anyone, but on the other hand I want to see them come to the C-7 just to I can see if they really can compete with real teams year in and year out, or if they turn into the next DePaul/Rutgers. Without McDermott I really can't see them being much better than Seton Hall is this year.

You guys are going to say I'm obsessed with this team, but it really is amazing. Somehow...by some miracle they are STILL ranked #23 above Memphis even after going 3-4 against MVC teams in the past 7 games. Just unreal...unbelievable. Easily the weakest schedule on the entire top 25 by far. 9-4 in a mid major conference that you are supposed to run away with is nothing worthy of a ranking.

IMO this proves that there is clear and blatant bias in favor of them. They must have some alumni involved or something. I'm not exaggerating either...when was the last time a team did less to be in the top 25? Honestly...can anyone think of one?

You probably could have found a better example to prove your point than Memphis.

They were a decent program before McDermott got there, and will continue to be when he's gone. Will there be a fall off in the new Big East? Maybe initially, but being in higher profile conference will also help recruiting. I think they will continue to be solid. Whether that means three tournament appearances a decade or five, I'm not sure.

As for conspiracy theories, I very much doubt that Creighton has enough inside guys in place to influence the polls.

2 of our games = 1 of their's in terms of attendance :)

Attendance doesn't make you a great program. If that were the case, schools would worry more about getting massaging luxury leather chairs to sit in during games rather than the product on the court. Part of the reason they get that attendance is because of their bogus ranking. What other mid major can go 3-4 in their past 7 conference games (none ranked) and still be in the top 25? Usually all it takes is 1 loss to knock teams like them back to #23 or #25...apparently they have to do worse than 3-4 to not be ranked. Never heard of such low standards before. This team can't even get out of its own way in the MVC...imagine them in a real conference where the worst teams are just as good if not better than them? I honestly think Rutgers, DePaul, and Providence would beat them 50% of the time. Also don't get why Indiana State gets drooled over. They have a 15-9 record and their best win was against an unranked Miami team. You really think they would even be able to compete against that same team now? Miami early in the season and Miami now is about as different as you can get. If Creighton joins the C-7 you guys will be amazed how in over their heads they are...at least for the first few years. You say they field good teams even without McDermott. I say prove it...even with McDermott they are a .500 team at best in a real conference...without him easily sub .500. They won't be in Kansas anymore playing G'Town, Nova, Marquette, SJ, Xavier, Butler, etc.

Your relentless.
They have been good for years. This isn't their first rodeo. Yes there is jack to do in Omaha but at least their fans show up and create a great atmosphere. They $upport their program. Capiche?

I'm looking forward to that day on this board 25 years from now when Joe3 goes off the deep end when his kid tells him he/she wants to go to school at creighton :)

No son of mine would choose cornfields over the big lights of NYC :D

Those big lights of Jamaica, Queens, are amazing, huh?

Hey, Jamaica may not be LA, but it has charm. A gritty charm. Funny story...when I was like 5 yrs old on the LIRR and heard the announcer say "This station is...Jamaica", I turned to my mom and said "I never knew we lived so close to Jamaica...why doesn't it look nice?". Obviously I thought it was Jamaica the country...and as I looked out the window people looked like they wanted to hurt me rather than feel alright as Marley would say.

What would push you over the edge wouldn't be the choice of cornfields over bright lights, but the desire for a faith-based Jesuit Catholic education. Just kidding, buddy.

Joe3 rejoices as the Creighton tailspin continues. Loss at Northern Iowa tonight puts them squarely on the tourney bubble at this point.
