Creighton, Wed. Jan. 4, 8:30pm, FS1/570AM

Creighton is coming in at #10.
Would be an even better win then Butler

And a less likely one for the second youngest team in the country. It sucks that these guys are coming off a loss.

You never know what could happen on the road. They are excellent but I'm looking for three straight. Who would have thought after the LIU game this could happen.

No one - not even the General.

I expect us to loose the next 4 games and would be delighted to see us win any 1 of the next 4, which would leave us at 3/3 in conference play, with 12 games left before the BE Tournament.
As opposed to winning would love to see continued improved D, good ball movement , a good game plan , continued 20 minute a game contribution from Williams and for Yakwe to return to his freshman form. If those things happen the wins will come.

You are probably right but if we can beat butler we could feasibly beat any of these teams depending if they are not up the their game

The key for this team is taking care of the basketball. Limit the turnovers and we can keep it close. Hopefully our guards play aggressive and get us too the charity strike. If we can keep it too a couple possession game down the stretch with a sold out arena you never know.

Seth Davis on Creighton

"This might be the nation’s most entertaining team, but once again, the Bluejays are falling into a familiar pattern of scoring a ton of points but being unable to get a stop when they really need one. I’m also concerned that 6' 3" junior guard Marcus Foster is reverting to his bad habit of being a volume shooter. Even though Creighton went into its big matchup with Villanova undefeated, it was fortunate to escape Oral Roberts at home two weeks ago."

"I still think this team has Final Four potential, but having been unable to cash in on its opportunity to knock off the nation’s No. 1 team at home, it’s hard to imagine Creighton’s stock going any higher."

A lot of tickets on Ticketmaster as of this morning.
Hopefully people scoop them up.
Home Court advantage is important tomorrow. Helps it is on campus.

As a reminder....last time we played Creighton we got crushed 100-59 in Omaha and Mullin was ejected.

I think the only active players on our current roster who weren’t there to witness it (either as players or on the bench as redshirts) were Ponds, Ahmed and Freudenberg. I wonder if, or how, this will affect the team’s mindset.

I will be disappointed if this game is not a sell out. We are coming off 3 big win. An 8:30 start is no excuse. There is momentum going into this game....I HOPE WE PULL IT OFF  !

This is a game that i still feel we matchup horrible against. Awesome pg, Foster is a stud, same thing Huff, two bigs that know what they are doing and really good shooters all around. Watching watson and patton sometimes feels like CP3 and Jordan. Two weeks ago- would think Vegas would have this game pegged with 25 point spread.

Going to be real interesting to see how our guys handle this type of talent.

Don't recall us ever having a huge walk-up crowd. Usually need to sell tickets in advance and unfortunately the mid week late starting time is a further hindrance. Can't count on our students to be last minute walk-ups.

I agree, although I also thought we matched up horribly against Butler--maybe even more so.

Creighton plays in front of 19,000 every home game. I wonder if an empty arena might not be a bigger distraction. :woohoo:

I think we need big games from both, Ponds and Lovett, plus a more controlled Ahmed. Williams and Owens work well together and have ability to score the Ball, better than Yakwe at this point in time. When Lovett dishes inside, as the other team tries to cover his move to the basket, Yakwe seems to fumble the ball more times than not.

Williams and Owens seem ready to receive the dish From Lovett.

One thing from the DePaul game, I did not think Ponds was getting the ball enough in the second half. Some of that was Lovett having a standout game at PG but, Shamorie sat more than he should have and, down the stretch , he didn't get that many touches. I would rather see him have the Ball more than Ellison, especially at crunch time. And, that's not a shot at Ellison but, Ponds is more under control and deadly at the foul line. I also think he is a slightly better shooter than Lovett, off the ball.

Ellison playing much better. I agree though too involved in offense. Eventually that won't turn out well for us.

Keep it within 3 at halftime and a single digit loss and I'll be happy.

Paultzman is spot on in another thread - beat Georgetown and win the DePaul rematch and we are 4-3 through 7 games, and that would be pretty darn good.

And BTW I think we have a shot against Nova, that would have been my upset pick for the year if we didn't already have one vs Butler.

Hopefully once Mussini returns Mullin will have him in the lineup at crunch time in place of Ellison and his poor foul shooting.

If we beat Nova that would still be your upset pick of the year. After all they are the undefeated number 1 team in the country not to mention the defending National Champions. Would think that would trump Butler upset.

I am pretty sure they game will be a sellout, if not very close to one. Last year's game at Carnesecca drew a pretty big crowd as I recall (decided to post photos from that game just in case anyone is interested) -

.

No "White Out" tomorrow, instead lets make it a "Paint the Town Red" game, lets be loud & proud tomorrow.

We Are...St. John's!!!
