Creighton Game #2

Put Dom mostly, or Sampson on McDermott. Man to man. No help. Defend hard. Rebound. Run at every opportunity. Push the pace and run them right off the court. Just like the Johnnies have been doing.

Right on. And double McDermott when he goes to the low post, even if it means we leave one of their guys open. But not Wragge. Don't forget Harrison did an outstanding in your jock defense against Wragge.

Agree. I think this is the game to get Sir Dom back in the starting lineup (Greene off bench) and tell him to follow McDermott all day. See what he's got from the start. Dom and Opekpa need to play their best in order for us to pull this one out.

We have to bank on there is no way he puts up the numbers that he did in first game.... That was a special performance! We play fast and get out in transition I think we take a close one 72-66..... Rasheed, jakaar and dlo have to play up there abilities!! Also obekpa has to play goalie.... We cannot leave to play help d leaving the wings open looks!! I'll b in sec 113 can't wait

Since the game is at MSG, our Homecourt, the 6th man crowd can be important, especially influencing some of the foul calls for both teams.
The ability to get McDermott in early foul trouble, as Providence did, would help our cause immensely.. We can then deal with Wragge and the rest more easily.

I hope Sampson gets off quickly as that sets a tone for the game. If we get the running game going and get a early lead, we have a chance to win. We have to avoid droughts we've had so often this season. 19-2 runs will usually result in a loss.

We are still , at 4-6, facing a steep climb to get a tourney bid. Away games at SH,Nova, Marquette will be tough. Must have 2 out of 3 to stand a chance. That's in addition to beating Xavier, G'town, Butler, Depaul.and, of course, Creighton.

Not much room for a loss the rest of the way. And, a couple of wins in the BE Tourney too. Need another big game from Sampson and Jordan. DLO will need to shoot better than 4-15 too and, hit a lot of foul shots. If these 3 have good games, we win.

6th man would be great, but all reports I'm getting is that it's not going to be a big crowd.

I'd give him the same amount of shots and try to play better defense. He hit some tough shots and got some kind whistles...that stuff usually doesn't happen on the road. The team knows more what to expect with him so it will be harder for him this time. Give him his points...I love what they did with the other guys last game. They cannot get away from that because of the outcome of the first game. They need to push it all game long.

The weather and Sunday nite game are obstacles for sure.. It might help if the overall crowd is sparse by Garden standards, that Redmen fans can move to seats closer to the Court and be vocal.

I'm not in NY but, will be rooting loudly from my Den . If all CA ticket holders and a good student turnout happen, the crowd will help. A poor crowd is a plus for the bluejays.

For this game and forward, fans need to set aside differences of opinions and focus on a REDMEN WIN.

Winning makes all of us Happy... UNITED.

I hope fans show up for this one. It's the biggest game of the year! I'll be there Section 118. CAN'T WAIT!!

I retired to a sunnier, less taxed venue , below the Mason Dixon line.I get all the games on Direct TV. I was a season ticket holder for many years and went to all the games at CA and the Garden, back in the day.

Winning was expected then.. It usually happened frequently. Enough to make Coach Lapchick and Louie HOF guys..

We split many post seasons in the NIT or, more likely NCAA. It was a lot more fun than the last 15 years for sure.

Nice, enjoy retirement! I'll be there Sunday hoping for a decent crowd, but more importantly a win.

Seth Davis of SI picks a loss. So, maybe that gives us a good shot to win this one:

No. 12 Creighton (18-3)* at St. John's (14-9)

Sunday, 7 p.m., FS1

Start spreading the news: Dougie McBuckets is coming to the World's Most Famous Arena. Hopefully New Yorkers will catch him while they can. McDermott is having a season for the ages, and I fully expect he will shoot Creighton past the suddenly hot Red Storm, who have won five of their last six games. St. John's boasts three of the Big East's top 10 shot blockers in Chris Obekpa, Orlando Sanchez and Sir'Dominic Pointer, but none of those guys can hang with Dougie on the wing. Then again, nobody can. That's what makes him so hard to guard yet so fun to watch.

*Creighton also plays Friday night, so their record will be altered before Sunday's game at St. John's.

Creighton 77, St. John's 70

We Ice Dougie and hold him to 23 points and win by 10. 72-62

Dump a beer on him as he comes out of the runway, and in the ensuing fracas, when he beats the hell out of you, you will have taken one for the team. Oh wait, that's been done to a St. John's player already.

Do tell. When did that happen to one of our guys. I'm not familiar with that story. Sounds interesting.

The team should be pumped up for this one. Coaching staff should get in Dom's ear, in an attempt to avoid the absent minded foul, elbow or other nonsense.

Believe he's talking about Artest.

He's Irish so that could backfire on us.

I never waste a good beer. Especially a Bronx Pale Ale
