I thought the turning point was when we went up 2 and had a chance at a defensive rebound but UConn got an offensive board. It turned into another possession and a tip in (I think). We get that defensive rebound I think we can't be stopped rest of game.
Yup, at crunch time stray rebounds, 50/50 balls eluded us unfortunately

Great call. This was the turning point in the game IMHO
Agree, a Soriano score there would have given us momentum.

Even with that, including a heavy home whistle for UConn down the stretch, botched defensive rebounding by us, and a packed and hostile crowd, we came within 2 free throws of tying with 17 seconds left and a missed 3 pointer on an open look with 5 seconds left.

We still could have won after that play.

Tough to see Ledlum brick those free throws, but I’m going easy on the guy tonight. That spill he took in the second half looked ROUGH. I’m surprised he even came back in. and looked hobbled when he did.

Also, no one wants to say it, but don’t love the pass from Joel to Ledlum on that possession late. Led to a foul yes, but Ledlum was in a very tough position, completely under the hoop. Would’ve preferred a kick out to a guard or Soriano could’ve just taken that quick hook shot he’s good at.

Still think Ledlum brings a lot to this team and I wouldn’t bury the guy tonight despite some tough mistakes
Ledlum does some things well and other things not so much. Someone posted here that when he drives he's like a bull in a china shop, which is a good analogy. He reminds me, in just that one respect, of Adai-Wusu, who also often looked out of control when he took the ball to the hoop. I do love Ledlum's toughness, but I don't think he should start.

Dissapointing night shooting the basketball for Carmine Mfp Jenkinins. Sadly, Alleyne shot even worse. Not sadly, both Pukon starting guards Castle and Newton also shot worse than Jenkins. There might have been something in the water. Oh, how we'll always lament the one that got away.

Charter member!! :ROFLMAO:
Just kidding but I assume you have seen Luis play a lot more than 16 minutes against a totally overmatched Holy Cross and the 18 minutes last night to make such a bold statement. If not, with all due respect, IMO you don’t know basketball, you are a serious fan perhaps but knowing the game, no.
And many on here raised Pitino’s development prowess to the heavens in declaring us a Top 25 team before we even had a practice so excuse me if I suggest some of you pump the brakes a bit.
Moderation, patience, balance.

Pitino agrees. He said the failure to box out on that rebound-put back cost us the game. Who missed the box out? Dingle? I have to go back and see that play.

Pitino was furious at the way the game was called in the second half. I didn’t see any public criticism of the refs from him. However he was pissed that they stopped allowing the physical play underneath. How much does Hurleys crying play into these calls? Anyone have insight?
Hurley spent an entire time out jawing into ears of two different refs. That’s when they started to call those silly fouls. So it worked.

It's like the Pinzon fan club, only on steroids
Indeed. Luis has never played pg but his innate skill and a few months of player development , have now transformed him into a starting pg in Big East! Magic by Pitino. Especially since Luis was injured and could not practice for six weeks with fractured hand and shin splints!

Damn! Tough one tonight. Very exciting game though. Had a shot for a great win on the road. Def a learning opportunity that will make us a better basketball team.

DJ played very poorly tonight. Shots were forced and that three at the end was really really bad shot selection. I wish college players would unlearn the step back 3, especially those who are not even good set shooters. Really poor game tonight and didn't really make an impact.

Ledlum leaves his heart out there. He had some very key rebounds and hustle plays and a few important buckets when we needed them. The missed open 3 and FT's hurt a lot, but I'm happy with him taking the 3 and the guys a 75% FT shooter. He's going to make important ones when we need them in the future. Tonight wasn't his night.

Soriano had a bit of a weird night. He was losing his man a lot on defense and that hurt us.

Refs sucked tonight IMO. Literally called Alleyne on a foul for just boxing out. Laughable.

Obvious the zone is still being worked out. It's not super tight yet, but it's still making an impact on the game. I'm very glad we've implemented that.

Let's please stop with the CMA and Pitino comparisons. It's just nutty. CMA picked up some big wins, no doubt....... but did you ever actually feel like they were EARNED wins? Not just wins because the basketball style was so off kilter, and without ANY rhythym, that other teams had hard times adjusting? If anybody needs to be reminded, go back and watch the Xavier game last year when CMA was mic'd up and then watch any Pitino huddle this year. He's playing DJ because he was the best PG we could get and Wilcher doesn't look at all ready for more PT. You gotta work with the players you have.

I wonder if we can get Luis and Taylor on the floor together.

Keep building guys!
Every time Soriano switched at top of key Johnson rolled and scored on lay up or dunk. That one play was run six times for 12 pts. Disappointing we never adjusted to it.

I still can't get it out of my head that Johnson's celebrity crush is Lizzo

Proud to have Soriano in the Jessica Alba crush club
They love a big girl over there, it’s shade in the summer. Also worst case for his tribe if there’s a famine she’s got a high salt count good for a spit roast!

I wonder how much longer they let Clingan “play hurt” before someone in his camp says it’s not worth it and shuts him down…

Kid is a top 10-15 pick in most mocks
Don’t think that would improve his stock as there would be questions about whether he can stay healthy. If he can’t stay in the court for 30 games in college how will he do in an 80 game NBA schedule. Needs to prove he can stay on the court.
