To me the question is what happens next year when Jenkins, Ledlum, Dingle, Alleyne, and Soriano are all gone - that's 4/5 of the starting rotation plus the sixth man. Given that most of them were placeholders, that's still a lot of spots to fill. We should be in good shape with Taylor at the 2 and Luis at the 3. Ejafor should be serviceable at the 4 or possibly even the 5.
BUT:
PG: What has Pitino done to get Wilcher the game minutes he needs if he is going to be stepping in as the PG (with heavy minutes) next season? Anderson was willing to take his lumps with Posh in a way that Pitino is clearly not willing to do with Wilcher. He didn't even get decent minutes against Xavier in what wasn't a close game. Rick gets the benefit of the doubt, but I'd like to see the young man get more PT than he's getting.
C: Who is replacing Soriano? Even with steps up at the 2 and 3 (which I would foreacst) that's likely to be offset by production losses at the 1 and the 5. If Ejofor is going to play the 5 then a scoring PF is a necessity; if Ejofor is the 4 then that need is at the 5.
Bench: Three freshmen, Dunlap, Traore?
Historically Pitino teams have made a big jump in Year 2. It's way, way early - but without landing a couple of very high-impact transfers who will adapt quickly to his sytem, I don't see that happening here. Seems more likely status quo result, plus or minus a couple of games. Year 3 I could see it, though.
Of course The Portal will have something to say about all of that...
