Taylor hit a big 3 down the stretch and then was pulled. I did not understand that. Should have been taylor and Luis as the forwards down the stretch and not ledlum. Hes brutal.

Anyone. We went toe to toe w/ the national champs on the road. Under CMA, we lose this one by 25 points. The future is bright.
C'mon let's get our facts straight here. Under CMA we played UConn five times and there were no 25 point blowouts at all. Last season we won at UConn against the national champs by 11. The year before we lost at UConn in O.T. by 8 and the year before that we beat them at UConn by 4. Under CMA we lost at home by 9 last year against the national champs and by 3 at home the year before.

IMHO this game was similar to our recent efforts against the Huskies.

I would actually say that tonight we were beaten more by the men with the whistles than by the Huskies.

I was pleased that the defense has improved so much since the Boston College debacle and gives me hope for a good season for us. I also am very happy to see Luis out there, who brings something really good to our team. Lastly, Ledlum looked like a deer in the headlights on those two critical free throws. His missed free throws wasted a nice setup pass by Joel in that huge spot.

Frankly, Jenkins and Ledlum are the only players on the team willing to “try” and make a play. And knocking Jenkins for taking the last 3 is silly, you get a decent look with 5 seconds left in a 3 point game, you let it fly……….
25% 3 point shooter
How that a good shot?

Down the Stretch this loss was on Ledlum. I don’t no if his ankle/leg played a reason but went back and watched

63-61 newton misses 3 and ledlum guy (castle) gets the tap in

The long fadeaway 2 miss - ledlum

The 3 miss - ledlum

The foul on the and 1 - ledlum

The extended possession under a min when Spencer got the rebound - ledlums guy

2 missed fts - ledlum

Just a brutal last 4 min for him

How much better does Taylor have to play? It’s sickening to watch this kid do everything for the team just to watch Jenkins do everything for himself.

Not a moral victory guy usually but I thought we played a really good and competitive game. Calls were wonky both ways (even though I’m still pretty sure that white haired ref is gonna be at the Hurley Christmas dinner)

Unfortunately it’s a make or miss game and we missed some crucial ones.

but I’m excited for the rest of this season. Especially with Luis in the fold. That wasn’t the case after BC game.
The UConn message board had a sign of relief and did not expect how good we can be. - getting better every game

No argument here, he was terrible down the stretch

Jenkins doesn't play like he trusts the other guys on the floor. That bothers me.

Can't imagine Pintino closes his eyes to Jenkins shot taking in film room. Just not sure why that isn't changing during games.

Ledlum is scrappy but plays like he's in a corporate league.
Ledlum drives to the basket like a bull in a China shop. Has to learn to kick it out instead of making up his mind regardless of another open shooter.

You can’t wait to “set up a 3” with 5 seconds left in the game. It was not a “chuck”, it was a decent shot that didn’t fall.
How many seconds did we have when we first took possession and who had the ball in those seconds?

Are you kidding me? Where some of you guys come from. Uconn can afford throwing in a frosh or two. We need the veterans in. We aren't UConn. Witcher 4 star recruit trust in coach. Remember Rick built this team in less then a month

Are you watching any of the games? Should we not expect a minimal positive contribution from a high 4 star recruit? He didn’t get a minute in the game. Do u really think that Yukon, a team that was pummeled by the Hall without their best player is that much better then St. John’s. Where do you come from?

I was only able to watch the last five minutes, so I missed a lot of context to the game. But I do think zooming out for a second, compared to where we were in early November, I’m happy with how we were in this game despite shooting well.

Ledlum really killed us with the missed rebounds, missed shots and missed free throws. He shouldn’t be taking shots in a close game with five minutes left, even if that open.

That Jenkins shot at the end was so predictable. I hope Pitino holds him accountable for once.

But overall, we still look like a much better team compared to early November and the BC game. Happy about that.

CMA had a better talented team available. We have kids who have no business being in the BIG East on the team.

I'm proud of the team's effort tonight. Could have given up multiple times and didn't. Even with shots not falling. Ledlum taking heat but he plays hard, hits the floor constantly, and gets back up. Not a Jenkins fan but CRP knows he has no other options. This Wilcher fandom is insanity. Maybe he will pan out but nothing he has done tells me he could have contributed much in this game.
Back up QB syndrome, Wilcher is going to be a very good player IMO, he is not now.

5 seconds is an eternity, and they had 11 seconds off the missed free throw.

He’s a PG who has been missing all night. He took a pass and didn’t think twice about shooting. He was never gonna pass. That’s chucking no matter if it goes in or not.

Putting that three aside, I just believe Jenkins takes far too many shots in face of a rather poor shooting % and seems less interested in ball movement and orchestrating. Guess Rick is ok with it, so no sense me beating a dead horse. On to the next one!
