Coaching Changes

Per Rothstein
Sources: South Florida will hire Brian Gregory as its next head basketball coach. STORY @FanRagSports:

He deserves it. I actually watched several A-10 games this year on TV and in person (my friend is the George Mason coach) and I always thought GW looked like a well coached team. Excellent spacing, ball movement and offensive sets.

Quinnipiac willing to pay in the 800K range, sources told ESPN. Names mentioned they are looking at: Bonnies Mark Schmidt, RMU Andy Toole, Albany's Will Brown.

Jeff Goodman,

Jeff Goodman,
That seems like a nice # for a school like that

I should have been a basketball coach.

800K sounds crazy for a MAAC coach. I know the Binghamton coach left Rider which is in the MAAC for around 250K and extras. He was making under 200K at Rider around 5 years ago. Why would they need to pay Will Brown 800K to leave Albany. He can't be making much more than 300K.

QU has a huge benefactor who essentially paid for a beautiful new arena & hockey facility I believe. Perhaps he is playing a role in upping the coaching salary.

One of these days maybe we will listen to a huge benefactor

The "Moose" is loose! Welcome back man!

I guess Will Brown needs to weigh what seems like lifetime job security at Albany vs. a huge pay day. He was a hot name for about a month or so way back when, but not any time since, so maybe he jumps at this.

And I insist to this day UConn was shaving points in that tournament, and it almost bit them in embarrassing fashion in the first round.

Welcome back to #therealmoose. Back to get your negative karma into 5 figures? ;) :)

To clarify my tweet last night about Quinnipiac paying 800K to a new coach. Told that figure is only for a select number of candidates.

I'd pay Jeff Goodman 800k to go away and never come back

I would think twice about how much they love me if the $800,000 figure is out there and then they offer me $375,000.
