Good hire

Wasn't he lightning hot just a few years ago?
No. He was let go by Alabama two years ago after six seasons.

He was lightning hot at VCU
Grant parlayed his success at VCU nto the 'Bama job that didn't go quite as well
Interesting to note that Grant is going "home" - he played at Dayton from 1983-87

New AC Wade hired has Texas contacts apparently. Hear as of last week Rasheen was not certain of his next move. He'll land on his feet I assume.

Just read about the guy. Was highly regarded as an assistant before flopping as a head man, so staff looks good so far.

I think Wade is the real deal with regard to X's and O's and recruiting, so if he can't get it done down there, I'm not sure where they turn next.

Always liked Rasheen, so hopefully he gets a good gig. I'm not sure how many decent NE openings there are though if he wants to be up there.

10 years ago I would have mocked the idea, but maybe he should try his hand at a stacked high school team for a year and see if nice offers roll in. If Rice gets a gig this year I'd actually apply to the Patrick School as his replacement if I were looking for a bit of a jump-start to a career and unsure of my next move.
That Texas guy sounds like Norm

True but that was 8-9 years ago after 6 years at Bama and 2 as Billy Donavan's assistant in OKC. He followed Jeff Capel who got VCU started for 3 seasons before Grant took over when Capel left for Oklahoma and stayed 3 years at VCU. In six seasons at Bama went to one NCAA and 3 NITs. Fan base wanted him gone sooner and were happy when he left. While I follow and root for Bama to do well in hoops (not nearly as big a hoop as football fan), I have a greater rooting interest in the Dayton Flyers as my Law School Alma mater. Just hope he can at least come close to doing as good a job as Archie Miller was doing before leaving for Indiana.

It is interesting to me that Indiana hired Archie Miller from Dayton as Head Coach. His resume is impressive but, so was Crean's when he left Marquette .. Crean had to clean up the mess that Sampson left after 2 scandalous years and, that deterred his Winning right away.

Indiana fans want Elite 8's, Final 4's every Year and, winning the Big 10 every year. And, Crean did not go the route Calipari has , in creating NBA prep at Kentucky.. It worked against him.. Hoosier fans are tough and not very patient. Archie will soon find out.

Crean is a proven winner of a Coach. He will get a top job, whenever he puts his name out there. Leitao hasnt improved DePaul a lot in his 2 years and in his second tour doesn't seem like he will. Marquette was always able to get Chicago kids and if the Blue Demons job opens up, maybe Crean surfaces there? DePaul just may be too much of a challenge for anyone to succeed though. Kind of like we were headed before Mullin was hired.

Well, here is an update. According to @HoopDirt, VCU assistant Rasheen Davis is now in mix for LIU job.

Nice!

Yes - Wimp Sanderson many years ago
The fans wore plaid sports coats like he always did
To me, he was dressed like the Lindsey Nelson of college basketball

St. John's grad class of '76. Have no fear they are by far and away my number one college hoop team. Season ticket holder since freshman year '72-'73 straight thru until last few years of Norm and since about half the time season tics or attend at least 5-10 games per year. Discuss them 365 days a year. My EDIT is UD Law '81 cause bastards at SJU wouldn't accept me! ;) :)

Tom Crean was on PTI this afternoon
He clearly wants to coach again
They asked him about the Georgetown job
Crean said that they apparently weren't interested in him

BAMA I'm classes of '75 and '78, wife '75 and '77, I have a good friend who went to Dayton undergrad and Hofstra Law, he didn't get into SJU Law, but happy he didn't, he's doing very well thank you very much.....this guys eats, breaths and dies Dayton Flyer BB.

You root for Alabama, mostly football, some BB because.....?
