Coaching Carousel

@Joshua_Newman: Tom Pecora is out at Fordham. Let the circus begin. If that administration has any guts and is willing to spend some money, this is easy.

Wow! Shouldn't be surprised by this given his record, but this one unexpectedly rocked my boat. Fordham's become a sinkhole for coaches.

And yet a few miles away with the same kind of facilities and a bit less money, Manhattan and Iona have become a destination and breeding ground for very good young coaches.

Those schools know who they are and compete like hell on that level. No reason Fordham can't do that same.

Except Fordham competes in a much higher level. If they aren't willing to pay to compete the should drop down to the MAAC

@AdamZagoria: Tom Pecora out at Fordham. Some possible names include Steve Masiello, Will Brown and Steve Pikiell.

Exactly my point. Fordham can't compete in the A10 - they have two decades of data that proves it.

The A10 is also dropping in difficulty. The right coach and they could compete in that conference

Interesting line from Mike Vaccaro: "Since making the leap from the Patriot League to the A-10 before the 1995-96 season, the Rams have had one winning season and 12 that have ended in 20-plus losses."

Would Timmy Cleuss take that job, if they threw enough $$ at him ???

Absolutely. An A10 school in NYC at double the salary would be right up his alley. I alluded to this over a week ago and bringing Jared back with him is a big plus. If Lavin is not retained look for Tony Chiles to get a serious look by the Gaels.

Perhaps also the coach at Yale ?????

They have a very good shooting guard from Montreal, Joseph Chartouny, going there for next season.
I wonder if he will ask for a release. He is an excellent three point shooter but we already have three guards for next season so there should be no interest on our part.
Next weekend I should see him at the Provincial Championships and will ask him.

Good choice. My Ivy preference is Kyle Smith from Columbia, very smart guy who usually does more with less & can recruit. He was instrumental in getting all those Australian players to St. Mary's when they had good success a few years back.

Bad blood between Grasso and Fordham. And Chiles getting a head coaching job is laughable

@ESPNAndyKatz: Sent to ESPN: Sources -- Bill Carmody to be named next head coach at Holy Cross at a news conference Thursday.

Great hire.
Right coach for the right school.

Sounds like Vaccaro's column about us cold also apply to Fordham.

Kyle Smith would be committing career suicide going to Fordham. Firsr, I doubt they pony up the $ that bigger schools would pay him and second, there is no pressure at Columbia. I think he should wait for a bigger and better opportunity.
