Wasn't he a "can't miss", young, up and coming coach? A rising star in the coaching world.

Yes, he was. I, actually was one of 'em who thought he would excel--and, he very, well might do well down the road--as a head coach. I know a couple of Gamecock fans who were big on Grant, and wanted him badly a few years ago.

He had recruited pretty well there also. Think 2 Top 10 classes in 5 years.

Absolutely not.
Much prefer Coach Lavin to him.
Would be a big drop IMHO and whatever star he had in the past has long faded.
Would be a drop in status for someone who has not had recent success.
Would be madness to go in that direction.

Expectations are what decides whether Coaches stay, get renewed or fired. Grant was at basically, a football school, as many in the SEC are, except Kentucky. And, trying to beat Cal has not been easy for any of that League's COACHES., BILLY D included.

Hewitt, is probably at the end of the Line Coaching. Expect to see him at ESPN or Fox next season doing Mt West games on TUESDAYS.

He had a good run AND career as a Head Coach, Siena, GT TECH, G. Mason..

a good coach, Al Skinner is still looking for a job. Hewitt is probably through but he has a ton of cash.
