Fr. Shanley gave Keno Davis a contract extension after his first season at Providence.  He was gone after 3rd year.

Davis two year record after extension:
12-19
15-17

Regardless of how you feel about him, Anderson leaving is not what's best for the program.

Much better to have him retain our core, bring in an impact transfer or two, and develop the incoming freshmen.

100% spot on. Plus there is no guarantee whoever the replacement is would even be an upgrade. We saw what candidates were lined up last time around.
Respectfully, to both of you gents, we have no way of knowing if we'll be better off or worse off. Now, I'm not pushing for CMA to leave, but if he does, I will not loose a minute sleep over it. And if Shanley and Cragg are all that they are cracked up to be, then the two of them will be able to make a solid coaching hire.

You are correct. I just personally feel that if CMA leaves, there will be a mass exodus and decommits. However, that could easily happen even if he stays.
I'm not so sure about that. I think most of the players are more closely tied to Van Macon than they are to CMA and if CMA does leave I imagine the new HC would keep Van around in his Associate HC position. Obviously would have to worry about other programs trying to poach Van during the transition period but thats where Cragg will have to earn his money and keep Van around. He's obviously not following CMA to Tulsa.

prior to his termination L$U Coach Will Wade had recruited a great incoming class this recruiting cycle with two 5 star recruits and one 4 star recruits committed, being the #8, #14, and #123 players in the class of 2022.

The two 5 star recruits have yet to sign a LOI.

Always a crazy time between transfer portal and coaching changes exacerbated by social media and rumors.  May be smart to let the dust settle a few days.

I am allergic to dust and smart. How do I handle the drama?

Matt A at MSG yesterday for Nova game, wonder if new Nebraska AD will force Hoiberg to shake up staff as condition of him staying?

Moose alert, Moose alert!

Have to admit I’m pleased to see Wade lose that job. Not that I wish bad things on the guy forever but something had to happen. I think NIL is great and overdue but when it comes to recruiting violations either the rules matter or they don’t. Always extremely frustrating when you assume your program is clean to see these coaches who pull big recruits getting wrist slaps that you know they’ve already factored into the cost of doing business. So this is somewhat satisfying.

In agreement that while I’m not convinced Anderson is the dream coach for the program him leaving now would be disappointing. I think aside from the disappointment of this season he’s done a good job stabilizing a program that was one more bad hire away from a level of irrelevance we hadn’t considered. I don’t think his story here has finished and it rubs me wrong that some SJU fans seem to be overreacting to the moment and giving him more heat and anger than expected or deserved. I get the sense I may be more excited than some about next season’s team if the core and incoming recruits are retained so if he does leave and there isn’t a proven successful commodity or exciting young up and comer I’d also love to see Van Macon given consideration. Good recruiter, ties to the area and would give the program some continuity.

Interesting thought.  The two were reportedly close, so I wonder if Hoiberg would balk at that demand.  The other explanation is Matt A was at MSG to see a future transfer (gulp)

I know he is a divisive character on this board, but I think Matt is hard-working and effective.  He certainly brought in some very good talent here.

I think in this age of even more transfers that definitely helps Matt's value plus he is great for whatever local reporters cover his school for all the info he leaks to them

Sources: Pat Chambers is finalizing a contract to be the next head coach at Florida Gulf Coast. Official announcement expected soon.

Former head coach at both Penn State and Boston University. Was an assistant at La Salle this past season.

"Reports of Ben Howland being fired are inaccurate. MSU plans to accept a bid to the NIT should it be selected, and Howland intends to coach the team." - John Cohen, MSU Director of Athletics

Sources: Georgia will hire Florida's Mike White as its next head basketball coach.

Somebody was not happy;

Sources: UGA reached out to Florida around noon today for permission to speak with Mike White. UGA did a Zoom with White and he informed Florida officials he’s leaving a few hours ago. White told his team around 5 pm

Newspapers down here in FL were reporting early today that the university had lost confidence in him, so the school got an out.

Thanks for that. I laughed out loud at the end.

I remember someone (Moose?) several years ago saying reports that they were really buddy buddy were overblown.

That said, I'd like to think I would leave on my own before having a friend potentially make a stupid career decision to protect me.

If he is out and in town, he's probably hoping Tom Abatemarco is thinking of retirement.

Done deal….. Mike White to Georgia. I’m pretty shocked as Mike owns a nice Ocean Front condo in my complex and has his family here at the beach often. I guess Mike got a healthy package, or believed he was on the way out.
