(Charleston Classic) Dayton, Fri., Nov. 17, 2p, ESPN2

I'm nobody's apologist nor does he need me to be ...in respect to Jordan it's clear he looks out of sorts. Rick loved his drop down to cover the post on a switch steal yesterday as well as his drive and dish to Joel ... he missed so much time both running the system and getting shots up. He's thinking offensively instead of reacting. Coach wants him to rebound more. Pass more. Play better defense. When he gets his feel back and the spacing and offensive communication improves he will be fine. RJ's shooting and slashing from the wing will also immensely help him. Long season. Big game today enjoy everyone

I'm not worried about Dingle. He looks like a guy who missed a ton of time and is basically playing pickup ball in a system he doesn't know.

I don't think he will be the player he can be until BE time.

He needs the ball in his hands and he needs 20 shots.

I don’t care if he goes 1-20…willing to win or lose with that over Jenkins getting 20.

Agree on all points- Luis will make a big difference- very talented offensively and can get his own shot without disrupting the system.

Gotten a few DM's questioning him about adjusting to being simply a volume scorer. He was the focal point of every team yet still was 46/36/86%. His big games vs high majors well documented. The adjustment is zero issue. Chris will also be fine but his is slightly different. He's facing bigger guys on putbacks then he's used to nightly... he will adjust as well and I suspect you'll see his finish rate jump exponentially. It's my worst trait so I'm being hypocritical here but let's be a bit patient. I've had this convo w Rick which is why he keeps saying they will be better later in season

So here is the disclaimer:
Rick Pitino is my favorite coach
Love Pitino

With that out of the way, that makes no sense.
Dingle comes with pedigree as a scorer. Don’t care where u played if you are a guard and are returning leading scorer in nation, you can score.

Why harping on what he needs to do better while giving a much less talented player the keys to the kingdom with no repercussions?

This is Geno level bizarre. But at least Norm had the excuse of being a moron.

Well Good Morning Friends...yesterday was...a win. Stressful but a win is a win...and like Paultz said take it and run. The St. John's fans are well represented here and we were making a lot of noise to try and will our boys to the victory. I think we helped!!

It was great meeting so many of you guys yesterday at the game and afterwards! Lets get another win today

Thank you! I absolutely agree. This team in BE play will be very good.

Oh and we better start fast again like yesterday. There are TONNNNNNS of Dayton fans here in Charleston. Can't let them get into the game...I also think they brought their band

I think all of us fans want all the new Players , Ledlum , Dingle , Jenkins , etc to perform to their abilities and carry this team to a winning and NCAA tournament appearance .

We have set our expectations to that goal and it remains all of our results .

Sure , it’s early and time will tell , having RP at the helm gives up hope . We have had 20 years of hope and year 21 is the most hopeful yet due to RP.

Gonna need you and Dave to lead that charge... some of the pics of our fans in the stands... would put average age... 60+? Not exactly the most... enthusiastic? age bracket...lol

Applaud everyone for traveling though- looked like a very good showing from our fan base.

We got a W with our Offense looking like a what... 2/10? can only get better. Let's get that Dub!
I give you my word I'm gonna do everything I can. As long as our boys stay in the fight I will not be quiet and I will try as hard as I can to get everyone else in it also

I can see Dingle figuring it out.
I can see reigning in World B Jenkins
In fact I see Wilcher eating into his mins come BE
4 spot is what worries me
Don’t see how Ledlum is going to have it easier in the BE. And honestly not really other options on current roster.

Norm Roberts was a class act from beginning to end at SJU. A smart man as well.

The person calling him a moron...look in the mirror.

I don’t even care if they perform to their abilities at this point. I just want the right guys taking the shots. Like I posted, I can live with Dingle going 1-20. I can live with Alleyne and Conway going 1-10 from three on good looks.

If they shoot that poorly how are they the right guys?:ROFLMAO:

Zach B. Comments:

St. John's faces Dayton at 2 p.m. First, a few thoughts on yesterday's win over North Texas:

- I loved the start. But similar to Michigan, St. John's didn't finish the first half well and started the second half even worse. They have to figure out how to avoid that today. The offense goes from free-flowing to stagnant way too quickly.

- North Texas is a very good defensive team, and it limited touches for Joel Soriano. That said, he can't ever take five shots in a game. St. John's has to find him more touches, especially in the paint. He's getting the ball way too far from the basket.

Liked the minutes Zuby Ejifor gave St. John's. Was by far his best stretch so far. Was surprised he didn't play more in the second half.

- Daniss Jenkins was accountable for his turnovers, saying he needs to be better and stop putting himself in bad positions. Rick Pitino acknowledged he's playing him too many minutes. Expect to see more of Simeon Wilcher today.

- I know there's been a lot of criticism of Jenkins, and some feel he's not getting the ball to Jordan Dingle enough. But Dingle passed on some open shots yesterday. Clearly, he's lacking some confidence. Has to get going for this team to take a step forward.

Well for those who know me on here, I'm a DIEHARD SJU fan, I've betting against us over the last 5+ years based on spread and importance of game, I've sat out so far this year and lost roughly $600 not doing this. That being said I've got Dayton today -1 for $300, if win all good if lose not happy but made a few bucks! Go Johnnie's!
