(Charleston Classic) Dayton, Fri., Nov. 17, 2p, ESPN2

I never bother those other 25 posters because you can tell they are genuine fans of the program who want to see the team succeed

You are message board troll on steroids. Pathetic
I wasn’t a fan of him or Marco Baldi as posters until we met at one of the gatherings years ago. Both great guys whose personalities don’t come across as clear on a message board but only takes 90 seconds in person.

I haven’t met a single poster in person I didn’t like.

If the defense can stay close to what it was and the offense can take any kind of step forward we’ve got a decent chance. Don’t think we can beat them with the anemic kind of offensive performance we saw yesterday. They’ll score more than 52 points on us. Just need to keep up the tough D and hopefully we have a few less turnovers and a few more made 3’s. Just get a win by any means.

Is there a mid-major that travels better than Dayton btw? I feel like I’ve been hearing about how their fans travel so well for the past decade.
Creighton and Dayton are in a class of their own when it comes to non-FBS football schools.

Dayton should replace DePaul shortly. They are top annually in average attendance around 14,000 a game.

I think we match up today well with their PG out. The kid filling in is a Merrimack transfer and only a soph.

Agree tough game today Dayton a solid team with a great crowd. I also hope Dayton joins the Big East they would be a very solid addition. I think we are going to win today though expecting a better offensive effort today, let’s be honest can’t be much worse then yesterday.

Didn't see a lot of the Dayton - LSU game but with Merrimack Bennett was a little prone to turnovers and didn't shoot the three particularly well (28%) . Think we should be able to wear these guys down in the second half despite their big crowd. We'll see.

We have obviously never met before. 😉😀

I want Dayton in the BE. It makes too much sense. But I do not want to let DePaul go.

Until hiring Pitino, SJU hasn’t exactly held its end of the bargain as a BE member either.

Probably.

We are no longer in the era where Coach Lou would play his starters 40 minutes each.

It is an analytical world where Jimmy Butler sits 2 games into the 2023-2024 season because analytics said he needs a load management day.

So the 38 minutes for DJ is relatively (in 2023) way too much. Plus he had to rush into game shape after not playing much over the summer.

I personally hate this new era of analytics driving everything, but sadly it ain’t changing back to the good olds days of Louie playing his best players all game long.

The more I learn about Dayton, the more I think they belong in the Big East. COVID screwed them out of a big March Madness run. Their school profile fits us perfectly; their fan base and basketball brand would make the league more exciting. And, if given Big East money, I do think they're a school that can capitalize on those additional resources to be a quality program. I don't think we should be so concerned about the TV market.

Hilarious 🤣 😂 but he’s not exaggerating. The Dayton crowd was so deafening I had I to hold my hands up to my ears. DEAFENING!!!!!!
I feel like Dayton fans have kidnapped a few of our posters in Charleston and are forcing them to post positive things so they can join the Big East.

If you guys see this, help is coming! Maher and the boys will go door to door in the hotel.

We dodged a bullet yesterday Vs North Texas State and a W is still a Win.

Unless there is something wrong with him , I don’t understand why Alleyne isn’t playing more and seeing the ball come to him? Clearly , we know he can shoot the ball given the chance . He did at UCOnn and Va Tech .

Pitino had said that “ Alleyne is our best defender just a week or so ago .” So , it’s not his Defense limiting his playing time .

Throughout his career with high D1 programs he had always found his role and contributed .

I know it’s early but , how long do we use belief our All Ivies are going to perform at the level we all expected ? So far , jury is out and skeptical . Justifiably .

Both , Dingle and Ledlum , sounds like a Law Firm, were Rick’s prime recruits along with Jenkins , until Wilcher came along . Did Rick over sell their abilities ?

Maybe we as fans conjured up both of them as impact players , which hasn’t been evident so far . Expecting them to duplicate their numbers at Harvard and Penn. it hasn’t happened yet..

I think RP invested a lot in both , Ledlum and Dingle and is giving them a long look to see if he invested wisely . Let’s hope his judgment proves correct . .
We need them to perform at a high level once the BE Schedule starts .

Dayton is currently #64 KenPom so this would be a Q2 game assuming they don't fall below #100 NET. Already a great opportunity, but if they move up to top 50 then this would be a Q1 game. I think that's a very real possibility given they were picked to win the A10. HUGE opportunity today!

we've gotta be the loudest we've ever been today. No sitting on your hands
Gonna need you and Dave to lead that charge... some of the pics of our fans in the stands... would put average age... 60+? Not exactly the most... enthusiastic? age bracket...lol

Applaud everyone for traveling though- looked like a very good showing from our fan base.

We got a W with our Offense looking like a what... 2/10? can only get better. Let's get that Dub!

I'm nobody's apologist nor does he need me to be ...in respect to Jordan it's clear he looks out of sorts. Rick loved his drop down to cover the post on a switch steal yesterday as well as his drive and dish to Joel ... he missed so much time both running the system and getting shots up. He's thinking offensively instead of reacting. Coach wants him to rebound more. Pass more. Play better defense. When he gets his feel back and the spacing and offensive communication improves he will be fine. RJ's shooting and slashing from the wing will also immensely help him. Long season. Big game today enjoy everyone

"Thinking offensively" is a great way of putting it. I'm happy it's not related to an injury. He looks like someone who's overly conscience about not jacking up too many shots, playing within the system, and doing the right thing. But, (in Rick I trust, to be clear) hopefully, CRP tells him we need him to play selfishly for us to win.

His three shots attempted yesterday was a career low. Even as a freshman, he shot more.
