...Can we make the Tournament?

We are the sixth team OUT on Bracket Matrix, though a lot of the brackets they source from aren't up to date yet. With a win tomorrow and more time for brackets to update, I think by end of the week we'd be IN. With a loss we might lose all of our votes, though we'd still have time to recover. Big game tomorrow.

Lunardi;

Texas Tech and WVU are essentially playing for a No. 3 seed tonight in Lubbock.
• VCU must win at Dayton to retain its newly acquired LAST TEAM IN status.
• St. John’s could land in tomorrow’s projection with a win at Butler (and some help elsewhere).

Thankful that Johnnies are in Tourney conversation considering how far in this crazy season they have come. Make Dance or not, this sure beats irrelevance. Beat Butler!

St. John's should be in the discussion.  A P5 conference team with .500 regular season record and an above .500 overall record should get (and traditionally has gotten) an automatic bid.

I'd just remind people who are on a euphoric high that just two years ago, Mullin's senior laden team was 8-5 after 13 games and we were talking about 2nd place in the big east and a deep dive into the tournament.   Things can change quickly, so I'd say enjoy what's in front of us now, root like hell, and take it one game at a time.   These guys have already proven a lot, and the tournament is the goal at this point, but I've always tried to control the highs because around our programs.  The lows are never far away.   I'm optimistic though.

I think what I outlined above-- a .500 conference regular season record and an above .500 overall record-- are realistic, however.

So true and important for our guys to stay grounded. Important to note however that that team played 5 guys over 30 minutes with really only 1 bench piece in Trimble playing 16 minutes. Team wore down.

Off topic. would Trimble see minutes on this team?

No question that team lacked depth, but likely more overall talent in top 5 than this squad.    Trimble never really progressed.   I'd say not many.   What do you think?   The point is the same - in conference play, everything can unravel quickly especially when you are mountain climbing.

I am looking at our record as 0-0, with a mini season ahead. I don't plan on much scoreboard watching, as I'm not even sure which games to follow. The team has to approach each game as if it's the only game on the schedule. No looking ahead to Nova or the Hall, as there are no guaranteed wins in the Big East. Maintain intensity and focus on good decision making and good shot selection. And put a body on the opposing bigs. We give up way too many second chances.

To know that the dance is within reach is great, although it was a lot easier on my nerves when the season looked hopeless. Constantly getting off to poor starts in the Big East leaves very little margin of error. I hope this season will be the last poor start for awhile.

Lunardi now has us as a First Four out.  But most others have us in.  A win tonight and we will be an official tournament team in all brackets.

I appreciated Trimbles toughness but Wusu brings all that and a whole lot more.

Agree with you. St. John’s for as long as I’ve been a fan has never been in a position to over look an opponent.

Agree, but happy to see Trimble thriving with Akron this year. He was in a bit over his head in the BE but is averaging 12 ppg and shooting 89% from the line and 40% from three so has clearly found his  place at the mid-major level. Coming off a 26 point game where he went 7-10 from three. Akron - Miami (Ohio) game is on ESPNU Friday at 7 in case anyone interested in seeing him play.

Bilas ranking FWIW

One of the great stories nationally is the emergence of the Red Storm, who have won six in a row to emerge as a factor in the Big East race -- and have done it with style. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4592479/julian-champagnie]Julian Champagnie (19.7 PPG) has been phenomenal. But the heart and soul of this team might just be tough-as-nails freshman point guard https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4433156/posh-alexander]Posh Alexander (11.8 PPG, 4.5 APG, 2.7 SPG), who has been playing more like a senior than the teenager he is.

Lunardi is a moron.  He has Kansas seeded higher than Creighton.  That's unranked Kansas ahead of ranked Creighton!  Can we please seed the tournament by resume and not by name of school!

I don’t really know their two tourney resumes, but poll rankings are meaningless and tournament has come out and said before that they have moved teams up or down a seed line to avoid matchups or due to location.

I understand that, but stop protecting the blue bloods.  They are having a down year, penalize them for it like you would any other school.

Personal opinion, but I think the BE is way down this year. Don’t see a sure fire second weekend team.

Because Kansas beat Creighton by 1 at home, and beat Kentucky in OOC?  Perhaps.

Creighton only beat Nebraska in OOC.

SJU not having a good OOC win--like had they beaten BYU--is what hurts them, and any school.
