...Can we make the Tournament?

As I've been saying, NIT is still there. If the season ended tomorrow I'm pretty sure we'd be in. Need to make that.

Lol, I guess a better alternative would be to implode, lose some players and then have zero momentum heading into next year. Then by December we can start talking about our next coach.

NIT was our best case scenario after the DePaul game. We weren't making the Tournament. We weren't even on the bubble prior to this game. No way we were winning 4 in a row, it was clear from watching them play.

If we make the NIT and retain our roster it'll be a successful year and everyone will be excited about next season. I'm not happy with the last 2 weeks, but the team needs to get over that quickly and salvage this season. Nobody wants another reset.

Making the NIT would be a good boost for these guys and good experience. Measurable progress which is always good. Like the fact that it's all being played in NYC like it used to be.

The winner of the Big East Tournament gets an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

let's go for that. And if we don't. End it.

the NIT is worthless. All it is is an opportunity for our guys to get injured in meaningless basketball games

Jack - if you want to get your hopes up that we'll win the Big East Tournament then go for it. I don't consider that a realistic possibility.

Nobody aspires to reach the NIT, but for a young team that should be returning next year (with fans), it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative of a disastrous ending to the season.

Calm down and rethink this. There's no downside to making the NIT, only upside.

I do hope the team still thinks they'll win the BET, but as a fan who has zero impact on the game, I don't follow that same line of thinking.

We've seen good progress this season, especially with COVID-19 in the mix.

Our team is young, young teams need experience, you get experience by playing games. We would all prefer making the NCAA, but short of that, the NIT could be good experience for this team. Look at the 1989 NIT and the benefits our young players got from that experience and the results their next two seasons.

It's been a very strange year in college ball. With the exception of Gonzaga, Baylor and a couple of other teams, there has been a lot of inconsistency across the board. Tenn, who was a top 5 team a few weeks back, is barely in the top 25 after playing some horrendous ball. Iowa, one of the better teams in the country,
lost 4 out of 5 games a few weeks ago. Including 2 games to an unranked and very mediocre Indiana team. Illinois, also one of the best teams in the country, got their clock cleaned last night by a bad Mich St team. I'm not comparing us to  Iowa, Tenn or Illinois, just saying that one bad stretch does not a season make. As I've said before, we're not as good as we looked during our best stretch of the season, and not as bad as we look now. When all is said and done, I don't expect us to make the NCAA tournament,  but I do expect us to exceed preseason expectations. Here's hoping we can right the ship in our next game against PC.

Jack , I think making the NIT this season would definitely be a good thing and step forward for the simple reason that they are only taking 16 teams. Also, for a young team the more games you get play the better

Outside of winning the BET, which we have 0 chance to do, our postseason hopes are over.

We need to figure out how to take that winning streak magic and play that way for an entire year.

I couldn't find much NIT Bracketology (no surprise lol), but I think for now the best thing would be to look at "Other at Larges" on BracketMatrix.com

Those are teams receiving votes from the 105 brackets but don't have enough to qualify for the cumulative bracket. Right now there are 15 teams listed, starting with Wichita St and ending with St. Mary's. There will be 16 teams chosen for the NIT. St. John's may not even be in the field as of today, but if not they'd be very close to it. Win 2 more games rest of the way and I think we'll make it.

Might not be a popular opinon but I wish they just did away with the NIT.  I see nothing redeeming about that event.  Extra games?  Sure whatever.  Turning on the semi's and final from MSG and seeing a covid type crowd is just depressing.

Agree, but if the kids preferred to play I would be open to it. That said, not nuts about another "Robert Morris" debacle if everyone's hearts are not in it.
