IF we make the NCAA and not backdoor in like Mullin then it's all a crapshoot and while I would hope that we go a lot further I'd still be happy.

If over the next 4 years we are a perennial NCAA tourney team then Pitino has done what no other coach since 1992 has done

For the record I was very much in favor of Anderson getting hired and was for the contract extension. Was clear to me he lost the team his last year ( Curbelo definitely being an issue ) but it was clear others had tuned him out too
I am easy get me in the 8/9 game every couple seasons maybe win a game in tournament one day. If a coach can figure that out here I would be his biggest fan.

I was right where you were with CMA Mike. Was also very happy we were able to get Rick. Not always crazy about the way he deals with the media but so long as he makes us relevant again I’ll be happy.

I guess the main issue though is I don’t see them shooting better. If can’t shoot the degree of difficulty goes way up especially against better teams. Yeah 12-3 is great but seems like fools gold honestly. That is my feeling honestly. And full disclosure if I see ST John’s on selection Sunday and not as a the play in it is a successful season for me win or lose.
You don’t see them shooting better than 9-60 from 3?

Let’s face it the demographics here skew very old (hand straight up) and male and the phrase “Grumpy Old Man” didn’t come to fruition for no reason.

I wouldn’t use the small sample of posters on a message board as reflective of the overall fan base.
I said this yesterday while watching the game on TV. You ever notice when the TV feed shows the SJU stands its old. Very old. Still. I noticed it when I was a student which wasn't long ago (well kind of). I get life gets in the way. People marry have families they do things. Does life come full circle and when you're older you then prioritize SJU games? Fascinating sociological experiment.

Again other than Wilcher who has fallen
Off a cliff and probably won’t play next game, I am surprised when they go in for everyone else. Actually Ayo might have 2nd best shot. Smith drifts too much but his is not terrible. But really have confidence in none of them.

We've just had our last coach be in a huddle where the entire team visibly doesn't pay attention to him, the coach before that a Hall of Famer who sat on the scorers table and would stand outside the huddle while looking in behind the players to watch what a 23 or 24 year old kid would come up with then we had our arguable best coach since Looie ( not including Pitino ) criticized for his love of words in front of a mic ( ironically our coach now gets that too ) he also got criticized by some for basically having cancer and being up in a box at MSG and also for recruiting during it after he lost Gathers then got knocked for not going to CTK to recruit but that was Arbitello pissed at him for not letting his nephew or something be a walk on or something like that ( plus Panther actually went with Lavin to CTK games ) so that was asbsolute lies against him then we had one of the worst 2 coaches in the history of the Big East which we had to suffer though for how many years ? Then we had a pompous coach who had a couple years of our best runs ever with the previous coaches players who told a high school gymnasium of coaches he wasn't going to recruit HS kids anyone. Then we also had a coach that dropped his pants in the locker room to show the team his basketballs. Then we had a coach who was. a great recruiter but who's best assistant coach was his point guard David Cain who got him a contract extention

And yet some criticize Pitino.

Only 5 days in 2025 and you have just provided the hands on favorite for post of the year. No one cared our previous coach never had a losing record or played with the second fastest pace in the country.

With the hoops hell we have been through the last 30 plus years, the last 18 months have been a total revival. In the sense of national relevance. Highly unlikely we would have been invited to Players Era NIL event in Vegas without Pitino.

Year 1, 20 win season, reaching the Big East Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2000. So called metrics were formidable but the bid stealers and bad early season losses to Michigan and BC eventually sealed our fate.

Year 2, 15 games in (12-3) (3-1). Obvious issues need to be worked out but 3 losses by total of 5 points tells me this team never quits. So far no losses to bad teams. At least 17 more games to remedy our offensive woes.

The sky is falling mentally is understandable considering our results the last three decades. (excluding Artest/EB teams)

No one is saying everything is perfect under Pitino, but it’s light years ahead of the mediocrity and bottom dwelling we’ve lived through.

If you can get past Rick’s free styling on the microphone, everything else is pure gravy.

Another great post.

Here is another indicator going back to what IDRAFT had mentioned about non internet nuts ( I include myself in the Internet nut category ). Last year IMO attendance kinda sucked. I know for a fact we gave away a lot of tickets.

This year so far attendance has been fantastic. How do I judge this that it's not just free tix being given away ? Resale value on the internet. I haven't had a problem at all selling games I couldn't make. I got I think $55 for the Delaware State game. ( and price went up after I sold ) WTF I couldn't get that for an MSG Big East game in forever outside of a Nova or Uconn game.Yesterday the crowd was if not sold out close to legit sellout

There is a buzz about Pitino and the team outside of just us here

I think they need to name something after Jarvis after reading Maher recap. Maybe Jarvis concession stand or something. Maybe Lavin restroom?
It is clear those two need to be recognized.

The Lavin Lavatory is an outstanding idea
If they want to sell concessions honoring those 2 Lavin Chicklets should be an item

Jarvis would deserve a burger but he lost a lot of weight

Maybe the Jarvis Jamba Juco Juice
