Butler, Sat., Jan. 4 , 2p, FS-1

Just watched the 2nd half as I had to leave to coach a youth game. I believe Paultzman commented on the transformation from a team that “can’t press” to one capable of using it to push tempo virtually the whole 2nd half seemingly overnight.
I assume Pitino made the adjustment at halftime to post Eijofor in the 2nd half, long overdue and kudos for that. Personally cannot fathom playing him the majority of the time outside if for no other reason than his ability to offensive rebound and just generally ups the teams “toughness” meter.
Not remotely a Richmond fan but he obviously made 4 very big plays at crunch time today and when he chooses to engage proves he is far from afraid of the moment.
Really strong largely “non-box score” game for Scott today, apologies to those that insist such recognition is just a figment of the imagination.
Finally, agree 100% with mjmaherjr, that the team needs to shoot out of the current slump, especially the 3’s. Forego the quick jacks, take them off ball movement but you just can’t not take them. But that is up to Pitino and staff to separate the “jacks” from the “in rhythm” shots, we shall see if they are up to it. Hopefully, the Johnnie’s are overdue for some law of average number corrections.

It was enjoyable being at Carnesecca with the family today -although the basketball was ugly. The team was very lucky to eek out a win, at home, against a below average BE team. We will have to play much better than we did today. I remain optimistic, because there is a lot of talent on the roster and a legit coach. Every year, many college teams play significantly better in the latter portion of the season. Let's hope we are one of those teams and not from a deep hole.

Rick may not be enjoying this job lol. Wish he would drop the mic once in a while

He actually is spot on if you see what they execute (or fail to execute) after time outs.
Half these guys are here strictly for the Benjamin's so they listening may not be in their NIL agreements.😉

Rick is not satisfied w his defense and doing the little things he expects. Doubt he’ll see much time going forward.
Yeah because Richmond reminds me of Gary Payton on D.
Seriously if you are Glover how could u take that seriously, considering you have a player that seems to have a free pass from playing hard???

That’s not a good thing at all. He should be focused on the game , his coach and his team the whole time not communicating with anyone in the stands. If that was going on, and Pitino was aware of it, I think a one game suspension is in order.
Chill a bit. If he was playing at the end, doubt coach is going to suspend him. Especially since we really need him against Xavier. Let's not create drama that doesn't exist.

I look at it like a fighter training for a fight. The trainer must have their fighter peak right before the fight. If he is peaking early, they shut him down and build him up again.

This is a good team that has not come close to peaking yet. I am confident it will, but unlike last season, they will peak and roll into the NCAA tournament.
Sincerely hope you're right; completely agree that we are a long way from peaking right now.

A special shout out to Aaron Scott, Zuby, RJ and Smith. All four were more than happy to chat and take pictures with my 7 year old after the game. They may not have played well tonight, but they were kind and generous with many young Johnny fans. And, as we all know, the base can use an influx of youthful fans.

he basically turned the game to our favor 6 minutes left with several huge plays. I doubt we win without him
In close games you can’t have him on the floor because makes Shaq look like Rick Barry from the line. Which is the point of the game when I posted that. Yes I am very happy he drank a Red Bull or had an adrenaline shot or something and mustered up 5 mins of playing hard.

Wilcher looked like he was playing out the clock, but some fans on the near side of him, were screaming at him to go to the basket. That's why he did what he did.

BTW, we were up by 10, and the line was 11.5. That's probably why the fans were screaming at Wilcher to do that. I'll give Sim the benefit of the doubt, and say that he was not aware of those fans' motives.
