@Butler, Sat. Jan. 27, 2:30pm, FS1/570AM

I wasn't a fan in 84 and I got knocked by one poster here when I went nuts when he didnt coach and sat and the scorers table and I brought up the name then and then was told I was wrong but I wild it again now. Clyde Drexler

That being said Mullin should get next year and If he doesn't make changes on his staff or guys leave then fire him after next year but he deserves next year

He'll get next year, but he sure as hell doesn't deserve it. Frankly, I think we're about to go 0-18 in the conference. I don't see any wins the remaining of the way.

How can someone who finishes 0-18 in their 3rd year deserves another season? Sorry, maher.

If anyone doesn't believe about potential roster fallout after a disastrous season, then you're fooling yourselves. I hope Ponds sticks around, but it seems like he's already checked out.
Dont worry about me MJ I totally hear you. The only difference with me you and some of the other guys is you dont complain every 5 minutes about the situation and you know I'm not happy right not either just we have slightly difffert opinions but I dont blame you for how you feel

This has become an insanely painful sports calamity for us to witness, as it is for the staff and the players to coach and play.
We have to bear up under the frustration. I do believe next year will be a winning year. I'm praying I'm not delusional. We shall see.

YES,doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is what they call insanity. Thats what we have

The team looked demoralized from the opening tip. Can’t blame them. Losing takes a toll. It’s obvious coach has lost this team.

Previous 2 seasons I’ve said it will wouid be fair to judge Mullins performance February of year 3. (Couple off days early) Results speak for themselves. 8-37 in the big east. I thought after last years 7-11BE record we would take a small Jump, bubble team most likely NIT. And hopefully be a top 6 BE team.

A lot of reasons for the struggle Lovett’s injury, lack of depth etc......, it comes down to wins & losses. Most coaches wouldn’t survive these 3 seasons. I don’t think he will be fired and I don’t think he will step down. And I don’t think Goff has the power you need to make a change unless he has been having secret meetings with major donors planing a coup on Chris? Unlikely.

We are a Big East laughing stock. Trying to be hopeful for next year, but any attempt at positive spin on this mess is just that.

Heard Mullin never showed up at SJU Alum gathering at St. Elmo's and went swimming at
the hotel instead !

For me, this is almost as bad as the way we lost if he was supposed to be there. For $2 million a year at a school like St. John's you have to show up to these things.
I dont know about this one but he has missed other things

Dave Chapelle is om the 10pm repeat on SNL. That will make us laugh

if you cant laugh at this I cant help you.

Steve Lavin 26 big east wins his first three years. Chris Mullin is 8-38.

A change needs to be made. That article is exactly what people are afraid to say.

If all this is true it sounds like he is heading toward Jarvi territory. Apologists will say he is concentrating on winning basketball games. Huh?

and Lavin wasn't exactly no pin wheel.

i was at the game. I was at St. Elmo's. There was no thought that he was supposed to be there. It was a dinner for donors, not an alumni event. You can criticize his coaching all you want but don't make the situation worse.

Agree. Maybe he wasn't invited.

It was not an alumni gathering. It was an event for donors. There was no expectation that any one on the staff would be there. I was there. if you ever go, the shrimp cocktail is awesome.

Hate to admit it, but this was the first time I've never even turned on the TV to watch a St. John's game -- something I used to live and die for. Totally demoralized ... and given the current state of our program, I'm concerned -- sorry Paultzman -- about J'Raan Brooks bailing out on us.

the one thing I've learned in fiancee when companies do road shows. The better the shrimp the worse the product coming. lol That actually seems to ring true in my business

Bam,
There is very little left to say that hasn't been said.  That there is nothing good to say is obvious, especially by those who were quick to criticize fellow fans for any negative comments that were obviously warranted at the time. Those critics of our critiques have basically gone silent because they too have nothing good to say looking at the rest of the season or into the future.

The article pointed to one embarrassing gimmick the PR schemers at St. John's have been using since Chris Mullin was hired and that is his absolute lack of experience or qualifications and, to-date, his embarrassing coaching record that cannot be even printed publicly by St. John's.  There is a lot of karma at play here given the characters involved in what is now a  "divine comedy" of tragic and sad proportions.  The program is being portrayed as a house of cards by some with the possibility of more defections with some protagonists responsible for this fiasco already deflecting blame and looking for sacrificial lambs.

The latest fall guy?  Matt Abdelmassih.  You see, Matt recruited all these kids therefore it is not Chris Mullin's inability to put three sentences together in practices or on the sidelines that make the team look lost and leaderless but Matt Abdelmassih's poor evaluation of talent.  Matt is now the target of a fan intent on driving him out of the program for possibly speaking to a sports reporter that this fan publicly humiliates on a daily basis.  Now, even I know that Matt is a loud mouth with a used car salesman schemers' mentality that drove Mullin to part with Slice but the little guy is the least of the problem.

As the reporter noted you can't build a program or player experience with defections that decimate your depth and force you to recruit transfers whose services you lose for a year.  No coach in recent memory has lost 5 of his players that could have been here this year, not including Marcus LoVett.  It is now painfully obvious that our entire front line is filled with one dimemensional players, none of whom have multilevel skills.  Perhaps some of the Matt criticism comes into play there but that is only part of the story.

The bigger issue is why has there been a total collapse in offensive discipline and absolutely zero improvement in defending shooters, especially from the 3 point line.  The individual player's shooting percentages have been mediocre with only Owens showing any percentage improvement.  That this is happening under the guidance, or lack thereof, of Mullin and Richmond gives ammunition to opposing recruiters that a player's growth will not be guaranteed under their teaching methods.
So, while some are running Matt out town, blaming Marcus LoVett, guessing and hoping for staff changes, the fact remains that if the man in charge even starts all over again next year it may mean it took 3 years of mistakes and poor decision making to just get to square one in building a program.  Most professionals in the business of college athletics would shake their heads at such a scenario.
